2 BLOOD DRIVE HERE AT MESSIAH - JULY 17th We will give people an opportunity to sign up on Sunday, June 10th and again on Sunday, July 1st for a time to donate blood. You may also sign up for an appointment at redcrossblood.org or call Kay Kinzie at or Linda Schwanbeck at Remember every 2 seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood. Kids who are 16 may donate with parental permission and we will have the necessary form to be filled out by the parent on Sunday, June 10th WOM WOM just held their last meeting until September. We had 21 members attending the delicious pot luck dinner. At the meeting we celebrated three anniversaries, Conny Sherman and Donna Lekang for 45 years and Grace Johnson for 55 years. Thank you ladies for serving your Lord with Gladness. We had a Review of the Year, it is always amazing to hear of all the projects, funerals and events WOM worked on throughout the year and the spiritual gifts WOM gave to Missions and Messiah. This summer WOM is planning a mission project making hygiene kits for girls in remote places around the world. Watch for the date and time in the News & Notes. Be sure to pick up your copy of Women on a Mission located on the LWML bulletin board. The projects are listed that we are supporting with our mites. The Mite Box will be out the first Sunday of every month located on the Welcome Center counter. It's amazing how our mites add up to thousands of dollars for those listed projects. Continue to Serve the Lord with Gladness! 2

3 STEWARDSHIP Stewards Bear Fruit Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again the foundation (Hebrews 6:1), so wrote the writer to the Hebrews. He had rebuked his readers because they were...slow to learn we ought to be ready for the...solid food (which) is for the mature (Hebrews 5:11,12,14). What steps of faith are we taking as stewards obedient to our Lord? How are we expressing our maturity? How are we responding to Jesus words recorded in Matthew 7:24, Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock? That rock is Christ, Himself Who has brought us salvation; by His Spirit we live the sanctified life, standing on that Rock. Our houses, built on the Rock, have no fear, cannot be moved, and are empowered to carry out the commands God has given us. We are empowered through the gifts God gives us through His Spirit. Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God s grace in its various forms. The Apostle Peter described those gifts: loving one another deeply, cheerfully offering hospitality, speaking the Word of God, and serving in the strength of the Lord (1 Peter 4:8-11). As God s redeemed children, we are His stewards called to bear fruit. Jesus said, You did not choose Me, but I hose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit fruit that will last (John 15:16a). Jesus warned that the lack of bearing fruit is a serious matter: If anyone does not remain in Me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up and thrown in the fire and burned (John 15:6). On the positive side, we have Jesus own promise: If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit (John 15:5). God gives the command. He gives His Son. He gives the gifts. He gives us the Spirit. He gives us the right to be called His children (John 1:12). He gives us the privilege of being His stewards. 3

MESSIAH S COLUMBARIUM What is a columbarium? It is a respectful, peaceful repository for the ashes of your loved ones. Cremation has been growing in the U.S. in the last few decades and more than 50% of all deaths are being cremated.

Because property for a cemetery has become a thing of the past, we have chosen to install a columbarium here at Messiah to enable us to have our loved ones near us.

Cremation has been growing in the U.S. in the last few decades and more than 50% of all deaths are being cremated. Cremation offers a flexible and unique way to memorialize loves ones in a dignified and respectful manner. Because property for a cemetery has become a thing of the past, we have chosen to install a columbarium here at Messiah to enable us to have our loved ones near us. If you have not seen the columbarium, it is located on the southeast corner of the building. If you are interested in more information, contact the church office and they will refer you to a member of the committee.
