GOOD NEWS CLUB AGENDA TABERNACLE #6 The High Priest (The Visualized Bible, Volume 10 Exodus Part 5) WEEK OF: MAIN TRUTH: God wants you to love His people deeply. TO DO AS THE CHILDREN ARRIVE: 1. Greet the children; make them feel welcome. 2. Take the attendance. 3. Listen to previous week s memory verse. 4. Have children put money in missions bank. PRE-SESSION ACTIVITY: 1. OLDER CHILD: The Priesthood 2. YOUNGER CHILD: Tabernacle Activity Sheet #6 SONG: (2 minutes) PRAYER: (4 minutes) 1. Prayer song: 2. Ask the children to share any Thank You Prayers or Please Prayers they have. 3. Lead the class in Thank You and Please prayers. MEMORY VERSE: (8 minutes) John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me. (The underlined portion of the verse indicates what the younger children should memorize. See Involvement Helps for Younger Children for helps in teaching the verse to the younger children.) Beanbag Toss After reading the verse from your Bible, explaining what it means, and repeating it at least two times, you may begin this drill. The group begins repeating the verse slowly. Toss the beanbag to any child. The child must then supply the next word. After the child says the next word, the entire group continues the verse until the beanbag is tossed by the child to another child. Again, the child who receives the beanbag says the next word followed by the entire group continuing the verse. Repeat as permitted. HYMN FOR TABERNACLE: (2 minutes) BIBLE LESSON: (20 minutes) TABERNACLE #6 The High Priest (See Involvement Helps for Younger Children for ways to involve the children in the Bible lesson.) COUNSEL TIME: (If you have a helper, hostess, or Teacher Junior Grade, let them do the review time while you counsel those who responded to the invitation. Otherwise, at the end of club, be sure to remind the children who responded to the invitation to stay after club for a few minutes.)

QUIET TIME NOTEBOOK: (1 minute) Briefly highlight what was learned from last week s Quiet Time. Ask the children to do one per day before the next club. They must show you their Q.T. Notebook next week. MISSIONARY TIME: (16 minutes) 1. Sing chorus while child comes to look in the Go and Tell Box. 2. Share missionary information for Week #20 using the Go and Tell Box. (See attached page.) 3. Pray for the missionary. 4. Show goal chart and mention the amount given so far. 5. Missions song: 6. Story: Secret in the Woods. Teach the portion of the story listed under Week #10. REVIEW ACTIVITY: (7 minutes ) Use the activity below or the Bible Learning Game from the Involvement Helps for Younger Children. Tabernacle Review Make a large red cross from felt. Place the pictures of the Tabernacle in a paper bag. Divide the class into two teams. When a child answers a review question, let him reach in the bag and pull out one picture and place it on the red cross. If it is placed in the proper place, he will earn 1,000 points for his team. If it is put in the wrong place, he loses 500 points for his team, and the picture must be put back in the bag. The object of the game is to place all the furniture in the proper order, forming a cross. Rita Lobdell, CEF OF EASTERN PA, INC. Review questions for TABERNACLE #6: 1. What color were the clothes of the priests? (White.) 2. What does the white linen remind us of? (Cleanness or righteousness of God.) 3. What was at the bottom of the blue robe that the high priest wore? (Gold bells and pomegranates a fruit that looks like an apple.) 4. What color was the ephod made of? (Blue, purple, scarlet, and gold.) 5. Describe the breastplate that the high priest wore? (It has 12 stones on it with the names of the tribes of Israel engraved on the stones.) 6. Name two places where the high priest had the names of the tribes on his garments. (On his shoulders where the ephod was fastened and on the breastplate.) 7. Why does the high priest have the names of the tribes of Israel on his shoulders and on the breastplate? (The shoulders are the place of strength; the high priest prays for the people so they will be strong in hard places. The breastplate is near the heart; it shows he loves them very much.) 8. Why were there bells on the bottom of the high priest s garment? (When the people heard the bells, they were reminded of God, and they knew the high priest was doing God s work.) 9. How often did the high priest wear these beautiful garments? (Every day except the Day of Atonement.) 10. What did the high priest wear on the Day of Atonement? (A plain white robe.) 11. How does the high priest, wearing a plain white robe on the Day of Atonement, remind us of Jesus? (Jesus left the beauty of Heaven and came to earth to die for us.) 12. What showed the people that God s presence was there in the Tabernacle? (There was a cloud right above the Tabernacle and the ark of the covenant.) *COUNSEL TIME: (*Only if you did not counsel with the children earlier.) SEND HOME WITH THE CHILDREN: 1. Pre-session papers for older and younger children 2. Memory verse token/take Time to Review 3. Quiet Time CHILD EVANGELISM FELLOWSHIP OF EASTERN PA, INC. P.O. BOX 4375 HARRISBURG, PA

MEMORY VERSE HELPS THE TABERNACLE LESSON #6 The High Priest John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me. (The underlined portion of the verse indicates what the younger children should memorize.) USE the visual and let the children read the verse with you. READ the verse from your Bible while holding the visual so the children can follow along. DO MOTIONS together with the children while you EXPLAIN the verse as follows: John 14:6 (Hold hands as an open Bible.) Jesus saith unto him, I am the Way, (Raise one finger.) the Truth, (Raise two fingers.) and the Life; (Raise three fingers.) no man cometh unto the Father, (Shake head no and cross hands back and forth in front of you. Then point toward Heaven.) but by Me. (Make cross with pointer fingers.) John 14:6 (Hold hands as an open Bible.) This is the address (where the verse is located in the Bible). This verse is found in the book of John, chapter 14, verse 6. Jesus is saying that He is the only way to get to Heaven. Jesus is God s perfect Son. He could never lie. Everything He said was true. Jesus is the only One who can give us life forever with God in Heaven when our life on earth is over. No one can go to Heaven where God lives on their own. You can t buy your way into Heaven with money. Doing good things, being baptized, or going to church will not get you to God. The only way is by trusting Jesus to be your personal Saviour. The book of John, chapter 14, verse 6. DRILL the verse with the activity listed on the Tabernacle #6 Agenda. TEST the children for their understanding of the verse. What is one name Jesus calls Himself in this verse? What is the only way to Heaven? CHILD EVANGELISM FELLOWSHIP OF EASTERN PA, INC. P.O. BOX 4375 HARRISBURG, PA

INVOLVEMENT HELPS FOR YOUNGER CHILDREN by Linda D. Ruth and Ralph Bechtel THE TABERNACLE #6 The High Priest MEMORY VERSE: Shortened verse John 14:6... I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me. Can be sung to the tune of God Is So Good. God is so good. God is so good.... I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; God is so good. He s so good to me. no man cometh unto the Fath- er, but by Me. John 14:6 Hold hands as an open Bible.... I am the Way, Put up one finger. the Truth, Put up second finger. and the Life; Add third finger. no man cometh unto Shake head from side to side, as saying no. the Father, Point to Heaven. but by Me. Clap on each word. John 14:6 Hold hands as an open Bible. BIBLE LESSON HELPS: Main Truth Each time Main Thrust is repeated, have children do the following motions. On God, point to Heaven. On you, point to self. On love, use both hands to make a heart shape, moving them from top center around to bottom point. On deeply, forearms crossed in front of your chest. Illustration 14 As Aaron, put long, blue robe over white linen robe. Put on shorter, sleeveless one (ephod). Put an onyx stone on both shoulders to fasten robe. Illustration 15 Illustration 16 Count aloud together the stones on the breastplate. Take off turban and say, Holiness unto the Lord. Walk in place and make the sound of the bells ringing. Touch your shoulder and say, Jesus carries me. (That means He helps me in hard times.) Place your hand over your heart and say, Jesus loves me very much. Review events of Jesus life with these motions: Left Heaven - Bring raised arms down. Came as a baby - Arms as if holding a baby. Died for our sins - Make cross with pointer fingers. Arose from the grave - Starting with arms low, move them upward. Lives in Heaven - Point to Heaven. BIBLE LEARNING GAME: Showing Love to Others Have children sit in circle with you in center. Pass around a bell while singing or saying memory verse together. At the end, child holding bell stands by you as you say, God showed His love to us by sending Jesus to die for our sins. We can show our love for God by loving His people. Child names one way we can show love to others. Play again. CHILD EVANGELISM FELLOWSHIP OF EASTERN PA, INC. P.O. BOX 4375 HARRISBURG, PA

GO AND TELL BOX Week #20 Who are the Snavelys? (Suggested item to put in the Go and Tell Box picture of bird.) What do you think a bird has to do with going and telling? (Let the children share their ideas.) The bird tells me something interesting about our missionary from when he was a boy. Listen closely, and you will find out why. WHO ARE THE SNAVELYS? (Use WHO wordstrip.) This week we will begin to talk about Mr. and Mrs. Mike Snavely. We will call them Mr. Mike and Mrs. Carrie. (Show their picture.) Mr. Mike was born in South Africa, where he lived with his parents, who were also missionaries. His father was a missionary pilot. Mr. Mike asked Jesus to be his Saviour when he was a child. Life was always an adventure for Mr. Mike because he was fascinated with animals and would bring different ones home as pets. Some of them included: monkeys, birds, chamaeleons, and snakes. Mr. Mike uses his interest and the knowledge that he has learned about God s creatures when he speaks to people about God, the awesome Creator. Mrs. Carrie was born and grew up near Hershey, Pennsylvania. She was raised in a Christian home and asked Jesus to be her Saviour when she was just ten years old. As a teenager, she grew in her faith and later attended Lancaster Bible College. Mr. Mike and Mrs. Carrie now live in Jonestown, Pennsylvania which is not far from Hershey. They will be moving soon into a new home where they can have more rooms for their missionary projects. LET S PRAY FOR OUR MISSIONARIES. THANK God for the Snavelys and for their willingness to serve as missionaries, telling people about our wonderful creator God. PRAY that Mr. Mike will have wisdom as he prepares lessons to teach about creation. ASK God to help Mrs. Carrie as she schedules their teaching meetings.
