Sunrise Drive, for the March General Membership Meeting and to hear our guest speakers, Arizona Speaker of the House, candidate for U.S. Congress, Andy Tobin and candidate for Arizona State Treasurer, Hugh Hallman. More information about these two speakers is included on page 3. Asiago Crusted Chicken with Wild Mushroom cream sauce, served with roasted garlic whipped potatoes and seasoned vegetables OR Grilled Mahi Mahi with Mango salsa, served with lemongrass scented jasmine rice and grilled asparagus (or seasoned vegetables). The meal includes house salad, choice of 2 dressings on tables, rolls & butter & chef s choice of dessert. The cost is $25.00 per person. 2 Page 2 PRESIDENT S MESSAGE I write this before our February meeting, which I hope many of you will attend. There are so many candidates for all the offices and we are lucky to be able to bring them to you. I also hope you enjoy our new lunch venue and our upcoming March dinner meeting location, as well. I was one of only three members from our region at the AzFRW meeting in Lake Havasu and I wish more of you could have been there. I learned some new things that will help our Club s efforts and met new friends and old acquaintances. Our next quarterly meeting will be the last weekend in June and hosted by our region. Please plan to attend all or part if you can costs are usually very affordable and you will meet some dynamic women. My door is always open to your calls, s, etc with ideas you may have to make us an even better PCRWC. I promised you an exciting and fun year, and with your help, we can accomplish that goal. Thanks always for your support and encouragement. Meeting Information Board Meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month. General Membership Meetings are held the fourth Thursday of each month, unless there is a major holiday on that date. The meetings will rotate between lunch and dinner. Brush Ash, National Committeeman and Christina Coireri from the Goldwater Institute, were the guest speakers. Many candidates were there to reach out to our contingency. Awards were handed out to the top Legislative District volunteers, the Party s Top Volunteer, the Chairman s Award and a lifetime achievement award, The Art Wales Award. Paul Marsh was the recipient of the Art Wales Award this year and our Arizona Federation Members who received awards were: Chairman Award Anne and Walt Stephenson; Legislative District 4 Mikki Niemi (aux member); Legislative District 10 Parralee Schneider Congratulations to those dedicated individuals who always step forward with a passion for the cause of our Republican Party. We were proud to have sponsored 2 tables for Pima County Republican Women. The Silent Auction items were a special treat but to have an evening to celebrate all that our volunteers do, was award enough.

3 Page 3 DO YOU KNOW THE ROLE OF THE HISTORIAN AND SCRAPBOOK CHAIRMAN? Every term of our President is recorded by events that transpired during their term. Some Presidents serve for one year, some for two or more. Keeping documents that represent the term of that President and the club activities that made up that year will be coordinated by one of our women who puts together a scrapbook. There is a suggested list of items that should go into the scrapbook but clubs are encouraged to keep a wonderful historical record of their club in any fashion they wish. During the term of that President, this chairman will gather flyers and newspaper clippings, along with wrangling pictures from the official photographer and any other photos that are volunteered. At the biennial State Convention these scrapbooks will be presented for inspection by a committee who will give a top award to the scrapbook they like best. This is a work of pride by our club and our chairman, Marilyn Zerull. We can all support her by collecting items that could be included in that scrapbook. 90 AT 90 By Susan K. Smith We are going to be 90!! This year marks our 90th birthday so we want to grow our membership to 90 members!!! We need everyone to renew their membership and encourage others to join our club. With everyone's help we can reach our goal. 90 at 90. Remember that one membership payment gives you membership in 3 organizations--pcwrc, AzFRW & NFRW. REMINDER TO KEEP TRACK OF YOUR VOLUNTEER HOURS It is early in the year but if we keep tab of our volunteerism, when it is time to turn those hours in for tallying by clubs, we will be able to draw that information easily. This is an important part of our awards criteria and we will have an article in a future newsletter to describe how to report hours. Andy Tobin and Hugh Hallman Guest Speakers at March Luncheon If you attended February s luncheon you know how information packed a meeting it was. March s speakers will be more of the same. Running for the U.S. Congress, Andy Tobin has served as the Speaker of the House for the Arizona Legislature, in addition to his private sector leadership experience. He has built successful careers in the real estate, banking and insurance industries prior to his service as an elected official. Hugh Hallman is running for Arizona State Treasurer and has a long history of service to the Republican Party. He served as a City Councilman and Mayor of Tempe and also served on the Maricopa Association of Governments. His private sector experience is diversified as he has worked as an attorney, headmaster of Tempe Prep Academy and a civic volunteer. Both of these men have extensive resumes describing their service to the public so please join us to find out more and pose any questions you may have.

The date for the fair is April 17th through 27th. We are in booth #86 in Thurber Hall. At the time of publication we don t know which day our club will be working. Sherry Potter is working with Republican HQ to get an assigned date. CAMPAIGN REPORT CHAIRMAN SHERRY POTTER It s going to be a busy year for candidates. One of the more important things we can do for all candidates is register voters. If you are interested in helping register voters, please e -mail me at slpotter57@gmail.com and let me know what part of town you live in. We ll try to schedule places near your home. The current registration in Pima County is: REP 146,831 DEM 178,970 LBT 3,908 GRN 1,800 AEL 54 OTHER 153,725 TOTAL 485,288 AZFRW DAY AT THE LEGISLATURE Every two years the Arizona Federation of Republican Women gather at the State Legislature. Members are encouraged to wear red so that we can be seen, visually, as a block of Republican political leaders. Our representatives show us around their offices and the chambers, let us watch their activities and typically host a small reception for us. A tour of the Capital Museum (and gift shop) is a must. Transportation can be coordinated from southern Arizona and there may be a box lunch available for purchase. For those who have never seen their legislature in action, this is an exciting and informative event. According to the AzFRW website, April 2nd is the tentative date for this year s event. When details are more finalized they will send out an blast to all members and our club President will also be briefed and asked to reach out to her members.
