2 BOB S THOUGHTS MORE THAN WORDS When children are learning to read, there is a time where a gap exists between the words they form with their lips and the concepts those words convey. With time and practice that gap begins to close, and, eventually, they move beyond just simply forming words to understanding the message of the written word. Bible study has a similar process. I often asked, How can I become more knowledgeable about the Bible? The short answer is, Read it. Yet, understand that it does take time to develop a working knowledge of the scriptures. When a new Christian or Bible novice begins reading the scriptures regularly, there is indeed a level of comprehension, but much of it is essentially just words on a page. In my judgement, this is what causes many newcomers to the Bible to become frustrated with their efforts to study and read. However, given time and consistency, those words will eventually begin to have a deeper comprehension. As you become more familiar with the words, your mind will be able to shift its focus from contents to concepts, and slowly, but surely, your working knowledge of the Bible will become more comprehensive. So are you up on your daily Bible reading? If you are, then keep it up! If not, you can get caught up. Let s develop these good habits together so we can grow in our Bible knowledge! May the Lord work in us to make the Bible more than just words on a page! THANK YOU Have a Great Week! SUNNY GLEN CHILDREN S HOME A generous friend of Sunny Glen Children s Home has issued a matching challenge to donors & friends. Any monetary donations given from now through June 30th, will be matched dollar for dollar up to $30,000. This means a big boost in funding for the children at Sunny Glen.
