4 Missions Here are a few excerpts from Rikki H. s about her YWAM missions trip. There are a few copies of her full on the bulletin table. At the end of May, all of the DTS students arrived back from our outreach phase in Thailand, Cambodia, East Timor/Darwin. The first two weeks we were in Battambang working with street kids. We picked them up from their homes in the morning, bathed, clothed, fed, and took them to school! After school, we would play with them and teach them English. The next two weeks, we went to Phnom Penh. Half of our team went to the slums of Cambodia and taught kids music, and the other half went to a Vietnamese island and ran kids programs. On Friday evenings, we were involved in a ministry called "Wat Phnom". We would walk around a temple where prostitutes and homeless people were, and we would invite them for supper. While eating supper we would sing worship music, perform a skit, and share a testimony/message. The last two weeks in Cambodia were spent in a village, teaching kids English. When we played music, taught dance, shared testimonies/ messages, prayed for people, etc., you could see the joy in their eyes and that it really meant something when we took the time to do these things with them! After outreach, we had two weeks of lectures back in Toowoomba, Australia about re-entering our own culture and how we can use the gifts God has given us. Something that definitely stuck out to me was to never underestimate the gift God has given you. If you are a musician, dancer, painter, writer, etc., but you think you are bad or your music isn't good enough, that is wrong. You never know how you can bless somebody through your gift. A painting you made could change someone s perspective; a line in a song you wrote could shift someone s heart; a dance you choreographed could tell a story and relate to a person whose watching it. What I learned here, the people I met, and the challenges I went through that grew me, will stay close to my heart. God has changed my life through DTS, and I recommend it to everyone!! I would like to thank all of those who supported me financially and through prayer! Words cannot describe how much I appreciate your kindness and generosity!
