This kind of clarity leads to a mindful sort of living, in which the small gifts of each day are reason to celebrate. Exploring the wonders of this universe leads to an awe-filled life, as we discover our unique role in the unfolding plan of the cosmos. Worship conditions our relationship of gratitude toward the Universe. There are plans in the works to continue sharing a light meal and worship on Wednesday eves after Easter. 3 Talent show is coming! The youth will be hosting the annual talent show May 2nd at 7:00pm. Beverages and desserts will be provided. The cost is $7.00 for adults, kids 12 and under are $5.00. If you would like to participate please contact Paige Williams. Youth team rummage sale is coming! The rummage sale will run Friday April 24 th from 5:00 to 9:00pm and Saturday April 25 th from 9:00 to 1:00. If you would like to bring items please bring them to the church s sub-basement. If you have any questions please or call Paige. Rebekah Circle Rebekah Circle will meet on the afternoon of Tuesday, April 14 at 1:00pm at Faith Haven Apartments. Please read chapter 8 When All is Said and Done (Rachel) of Slightly Bad Girls of the Bible. In March our circle members gathered to assemble 15 gift bags for the women at the CHUM Drop-in Center. We would like to thank the congregational members who helped to supply personal care products from their hotel visits. Please continue to collect these items and leave them at the greeters desk. Thank you. APRIL: NATIONAL DISTRACTED DRIVING AWARENESS MONTH What is distracted driving? Distracted driving is any activity that could divert a person s attention away from the primary task of driving. All distractions endanger driver, passenger, and bystander safety. These types of distractions include: *Texting *Using a cell phone or smartphone *Eating and drinking *Talking to passengers *Grooming *Reading (including maps) *Using a navigation system *Watching a video *Adjusting a radio or CD player Because text messaging requires visual, manual and cognitive attention from the driver, it is by far the most alarming distraction. For example, 5 seconds is the average time your eyes are off the road while texting. When traveling at 55 mph, that s enough time to cover the length of a football field blindfolded. TAKE THE PLEDGE Distracted driving kills and injures thousands of people each year. I pledge to: *Protect lives by never texting or talking on the phone while driving. *Be a good passenger and speak out if the driver in my car is distracted. *Encourage my friends and family to drive phone-free. 4 Paige s Page Spring is finally making its way here! What does this mean? The grass will start to green, flowers will start to bloom, and of course who can forget about spring cleaning. However, I always look forward to spring because it almost feels like we have a chance to start over, make changes, and maybe spring clean our souls. It s the perfect time to get all that clutter out and start fresh and new! Philosopher Bernard Williams once said The day the Lord created hope was probably the same day he created spring. I think he was absolutely correct! Spring can bring wonderful changes and new hopes. In this house of the Lord that is exactly what is happening. We have such wonderful events and new ideas coming around the corner. First our annual talent show is set to hit the stage (or sanctuary) May 2nd at 7:00pm. I encourage everyone to attend and if you would like to be a part of the show please let me know! Vacation Bible School is being hosted here this year and is set for June 8 th 12 th. What I am the most excited for is coming this July; we are going to South Dakota! We are heading to Martin, SD for a youth mission trip. I went on this trip as a kid and now I am so excited to take our young to a place that can change lives. Another new idea I have for this church that is full of passion and talent is to create a church band. I want to create a group that loves music and wants to perform and just have time to gather with everyone and have an opportunity to express our different talents and passions for various music. My goal would be to begin performing for Act up Sundays. If this church band is a group you would like to be a part of please call or me. We would love to have you! There are so many wonderful changes and new hopes present in our lives every day. They are present in our church life, family life, and our personal lives. I hope each and every one of you can open your hearts, organize that clutter inside, and spring clean your souls. Trust in God to guide you and love you through every new change and just watch the new hopes and dreams come alive.
