It is important that PRAYER is at the heart of this exciting time of change in our congregation. Place your card & sticker where it will remind you to pray for each of these 5 things. Men at Work Will be meeting on Wednesday, April 18 th at 9:00 a.m. to continue working on small tasks around the church. Prayer Group Members of the Prayer Group are meeting the 3 rd Wednesday of each month in the Prayer Chapel at Atonement at 1:00pm. All are welcome. This month, the group is meeting on Wednesday, April 18 at 1:00pm. Blood Pressure Screening on Sunday, May 6 th. There will be a blood pressure screening before & after service on Sunday, May 6 th. This will be held in the Prayer Chapel. 5 Atonement Youth & Family National Youth Gathering 2018 Every three years, 30,000 high school youth and their adult leaders gather for a week of faith formation known as the ELCA Youth Gathering. Through days spent in interactive learning, worship, Bible study, service and fellowship, young people grow in faith and are challenged and inspired to live their faith in their daily lives. The next National Youth Gathering is scheduled for June 27-July 1, 2018 in Houston, TX. High School youth (high school age in 2018) and parents need to begin discussing this now and get it on your calendar. If your youth may be interested in learning more, sign up at the Youth & Family table in the Narthex. Vacation Bible School at Atonement (VBS) SAVE THE DATE! July :00 am- 3:00 pm, July 13-9:00 am-12:00 pm 4K-6th graders (for the school year) Older youth would make perfect volunteers! Preble Parking Volunteers are needed for Preble Parking. 6 Christian Education Confirmation Ministry 2018 CONFIRMATION WORSHIP HELPER SCHEDULE Each young adult that is part of our Confirmation Ministry is expected to be a worship helper to our pastor. As a Worship Helper you will arrive at 8:45 a.m. and do the following: Carry in Communion Items with Parents or other Adult as ushers come forward with the Offering Help with Holy Communion by distributing the wine. 7 Community Outreach: NEW Shelter Meal Signup sheet is on the Narthex Counter for Meal Coordinators/Servers for We will serve our usual spaghetti dinner and all the fixings. Please see the signup sheet in the narthex for ways you can help. We have a great crew that does prep work on Monday morning, you would need to haul the food over to the shelter in the late afternoon and be a part of serving the meal from 4:45 until 6:00 pm. You are done right after the meal is served. Please consider helping in this wonderful ministry. Sign up for one month or more. The bin is located in the Narthex cabinet labeled Freedom House. It is on the end of the Narthex counter, near the coat rack. Check the bin periodically during your month, if it is getting full, do a delivery. Thank you! Paul s Pantry We always collect Egg Cartons, Paper Bags, Plastic Bags, and Eye Glasses for Paul s Pantry. Put your donated items in the Narthex Counter cabinet marked Paul s Pantry. The pantry was founded in 1984 by the late Leo Frigo. Leo had retired as President of Frigo Cheese and wished to devote the remainder of his life to helping those in need. Leo realized that the amount of food being thrown away by business was shameful and that the unsalable but edible food could be used to benefit the needy in our local community. Please join us in supporting their mission by donating egg cartons, bags, eye glasses. Atonement's Prayer Chain The Prayer Chain consists of several people who are contacted via when someone has a prayer request. When an is received by the group, they each pray for the request. If you would like to be on the list to receive prayer requests, or if you would like the group to pray for you or a loved one, please contact me, Janet Jacobson at or jjanim@aol.com. In the Hospital? If you want us to know you are going to be and/or are hospitalized, please be sure to contact the church office, at When admitted to the hospital, tell them to contact Atonement. Even when you tell this to the hospital, sometimes we are called and sometimes we are not. The only way to be sure we know about your hospitalization is for you or a family member to contact us directly. Without your assistance, it is very possible your hospitalization will not be known to us. Festival Foods Invites Veterans Each Friday from 8:00 a.m. to noon Festival Foods on University Avenue (this location only) will provide complimentary coffee and donuts to veterans in the community conference room, located above the deli. All veterans are welcome each week to meet fellow veterans, share stories, and enjoy freshly baked treats and coffee. Large Print Bulletins are available from the ushers. Medical Equipment Loan Program Winiecki VFW Post 9677 in Bellevue has medical items that are available to anyone in need on an as is condition. The equipment is on loan and must be returned when no longer needed. Veterans have preference. Items available include: * Electric hospital beds * Hydraulic Get-U-Up lift * Bed canes * Knee scooters * Manual and electrical wheelchairs * 2-wheel walkers * Transfer wheelchairs * 4-wheel walkers * Wheelchair ramps * Crutches * Wheelchair trays * Canes * Electric scooters * Toilet risers * Electric lift chairs * Shower stools * Electric stair lifts hydraulic Hoyer lifts * Transfer shower chairs Some equipment may require a monetary deposit which is given back when the equipment is returned. He began the meeting with a devotional prayer. Introductions were given by all in attendance. Council will continue to meet on the 3 rd Thursday of the month in Executive committee meets at 6:15pm and full council meets at 6:30. Vacant officer positions for 2018: Vice President and Secretary. After discussion, Jason made a motion to approve Corey as Vice President and Lora as Secretary for Gene seconded. Motion carried. Multicultural Ministry Mission & Social Concerns Trust January committee reports were sent electronically to the council. The following items were discussed: MPS ADR fund has a balance of $ MPS is requesting $7,000 to pay down $7,500 of debentures. Gene made a motion to approve, Tori seconded. Motion carried. United 2 Serve Requesting $200 for March 3 rd Couple Game Night event. Gene made a motion to approve, Tori seconded. Motion carried. Youth & Family Discussed directing Lenten offerings to youth ministry. Corey made a motion to give Lenten service offerings to youth attending the National Youth Gathering and to give Lenten meal offerings to Youth ministry. Kevin seconded. Motion carried. Corey made a motion to approve all committee reports, Jason seconded. Motion carried. Pastor s Report Pastor David discussed his Lent series on science and creation of the earth. He requested prayers for the Zarnoth family and those suffering in the aftermath of the Florida shooting. There are 30 Lutheran churches in our area in transition; 800 churches in the nation looking for a pastor. Gene made a motion to approve Pastor David s report. Tori seconded. Motion carried. Treasurer s Report Julie reviewed the treasurer s report for January and explained the important sections of the Excel spreadsheet she sends monthly to the council. Revenue has been down in January. This could be due to many members giving large donations in December. Corey made a motion to approve Julie s report. Tim seconded. Motion carried. Old Business 1. Call Committee and Transition Team update. Jason is updating the church s profile which will repost it. He added a sabbatical, changed the experience level and wage to reflect the change to experience. Jason volunteered to be the Call Committee s connection to council so the council can receive updates. 2. Properties items: a. Locking doors need to ensure doors are locked after service on Sundays Properties team will discuss. b. Outer narthex TV who is turning it on/off? Who is updating the announcements? Worship tech will control the TV. Lori will insert a new flash drive each week with current announcements. c. Outer sign Lori is updating the text as needed. New Business 1. Office computers need to create a list of tech equipment/virus software, etc. Corey will take care of this. 2. Evaluate Revelations Julie reported that the Revelations software will no longer be supported after March We can continue using it without support, transfer to the online version of Revelations, or go to another online version for a monthly fee. We are not using Revelations to its full potential. Lora volunteered to work with Julie and Lori to research options. 3. Broadcasting services online CCLI would charge a fee based on attendance or membership. Corey will research our options (cost, resources and staff required) and report back to council. Other Items After the SOS dinner was set up on Friday, there was a theft of some decorations and the batteries were taken from the candles on the tables. No one could determine who stole the items. However, the Hispanic AA group was meeting Friday night. See if Jairo will talk to the group leader about security.

We will start a Hygiene drive in April for Edison Eagles this will take place whole month of April! 3. We need members for U2S-we need a council rep- Tim W.-has decided to be the U2 serve council rep, Patricia Perez and Nancy Teale are interested in joining U2 Serve Newsletter ideas- Lori-Bulletin insert please add either this Sunday or Palm Sunday Hygiene drive in April for Edison Eagles Upcoming Chicken Dinner is April 28 th. Please watch for sign-up sheets in narthex for ways to help for the biggest event of the year! We are in need of people to help go out and get gift certificates from local places in GB. See Donna for a drafted letter. In need of fun themed baskets for silent auction, for example-relaxing spa basket, movie day, kids, games, wine, bloody Mary, grill baskets etc.. So much fun to donate to Atonement s biggest event of the year.
