Many Thanks to the Good Stewards of God's Grace! - who assisted in many ways with the funeral Mass for Rudy DiTrapano! - who helped to celebrate the Baptism of Finley Christopher Stevenson! - who have agreed to serve as sponsors for our RCIA inquirers! - who minister to our sick and disabled parishioners in many ways! - who prepare "Cooked with Love" meals averaging 40 meals per month! - who brought tons of food items for the Coalburg food pantry! - who loaded, transported, unloaded and sorted all that food in Coalburg! - who generously agreed to assist with the lunch for this Saturday's workshop! - who came forth enthusiastically to support Michael Osuji and Jocelyn Ponciano in their time of need! - who candidly shared their objections to the political tone of last week's announcement about Michael! - who participated and assisted in our liturgies for All Saints and All Souls! Pray She Rests in Peace Our sister in Christ, Libby McGinn, died on Wednesday of this week. Libby s children are developing plans for a memorial Mass celebration, tentatively for Saturday, December 2. Libby had indicated that she wanted her body to be donated for scientific research.

2 Another Special Parents Outing Is Coming! Sunday, November 19, 1:00 4:00pm Parents, treat yourselves to an afternoon to do holiday shopping, baking or whatever suits your pleasure. Your parish family will provide the babysitting! Drop your children off any time between 1:00-4:00pm and we will treat them to crafts, games, snacks, etc. Reservations are preferred and can be made with Jeanne Haas by texting or or sign up in the gathering space. This special childcare is free; donations always appreciated. WE WILL NEED many adult and teen volunteers! You will assist with babysitting, craft-making, games, etc. Any time you can give during the afternoon would be very helpful. Please contact Jeanne Haas by texting or ing College Students Once again, we would like to send "We Care" packages to all parishioners who are away at college. Please write your student s current address in the appropriate space on the table in our Gathering Space or us at haasjeanne@hotmail.com. The deadline is Wednesday, November 22 nd. If your child s name is not listed, please add it for us! They are all an important part of our parish family. Attention Parents of Children in Grades 1-12! In accordance with the directives from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), Blessed Sacrament Parish will present two lessons from the Touching Safety program to Grades 1-12 on Sunday, November 12th. This program is provided by the Diocese of Wheeling Charleston, and is part of our ongoing effort to help create and maintain a safe environment for children and to protect all children from sexual abuse. Copies of your child s lesson plans are available in the church office for your review if you so desire. As a parent, you have the right to choose whether your child participates. Please contact Jeanne Haas in the church office if you have questions about the program or the lessons. If you determine that you DO NOT wish your child(ren) to participate, please notify Jeanne (haasjeanne@hotmail.com) no later than November 12th. 3 The Big Blue Guy Our big blue guy is back. Each slip of paper on this fellow has a food or personal care item noted on it. Please take as many slips of paper as you can and bring those items back here. We will collect these items in the hall by the office. Just before Thanksgiving (see below), these items will be sorted and placed in boxes to be given to families in our local area and Coalburg who are unable to afford a Thanksgiving dinner. Volunteers are needed to take Thanksgiving boxes to Coalburg and to addresses in the South Charleston area on Monday morning, November 20 th beginning bright and early at 9am. If you have a truck/van and would like to help, please sign up in the gathering space. Two more groups of volunteers are needed on Sunday morning, November 20 th (no sign-ups needed). Between the Masses, from 10:15 to 11:30am, help is needed to move donated food items into room 5 and sort them into groups. Our Partners in Community Service Children's Therapy Clinic The Children's Therapy Clinic will need volunteers for the Light the Way 5K walk/run that will take place at Coonskin Park on Friday, November 17 at 6:00pm. Volunteers are needed to help with set up/clean up, registration, hot chocolate, caroling, and water station/help along the route. Volunteers will be needed about 4pm or so that day. This event is before the lights display is open to the public - a chance to get a "sneak peek". Please contact Valicia Leary if you can help at (valicia@childrenstherapyclinic.com or ) Faith in Action of the Greater Kanawha Valley We will need the following volunteers for our Senior Christmas Bureau, dates are all TBD: 1) Stocking Stuffers - an assembly line approach to filling 75+ stockings with goodies 2) Wrapping & Staging - helping to wrap gifts and stage pick-ups by Delivery Elves 3) Delivery Elves - individuals or families who will serve to deliver the Christmas goods to a senior and visit with them for a bit. 4 We are in search of a cook: West Virginia Institute for Spirituality Job Duties: Cook, prepare and serve food, maintain proper grill cooking temperatures, ensure that all kitchen equipment is clean and professional in appearance always, encourage good customer relations through product promotion. Requirements for consideration: Minimum of 1 year cooking experience, ability to work independently, must be client-oriented, able to work quietly organized, detail oriented, able to occasionally lift 30 pounds, ability to multi-task in a fast pace environment, bending, standing, moving, carrying, writing, lifting, reaching, prepare and cook for groups of 10-30, candidates must be able to successfully pass a Federal/State background check and a preemployment drug test.
