Preparing the Soil: Communal Involvement in the RCIA (community) o Fr. Gary Dowsey & Michael Raposa (Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Dunedin) How do we form the community and parish ministries to be the locus for Christian initiation? Going beyond pulpit announcements, how is the assembly prepared to celebrate the rites and welcome newcomers? Are your Catholic schools aware of the RCIA process and where are uninitiated children funneled for sacramental/faith formation? A2. Seeds: Scattered and Sown Invitation to the RCIA (evangelization) o Diane Kledzik (Associate Dir. for Evangelization, Small Christian Communities & Adult Faith Formation) An evangelizing parish sets the environment for a flourishing RCIA process. This session will explore the many opportunities we have to invite those with no faith community to Come and See. Come with a desire to share your own experiences, hopes and dreams and be open to discovering new tools for evangelization. A3. Four Seasons of Growth: The Periods of the RCIA (process) o Deacon Jerry Crall (St. Timothy Parish, Lutz) There are different season to the RCIA process that unfold throughout the year. We should ignore the Gregorian calendar, except for the Lenten Period of Purification & Enlightenment, and stress the importance to entering into an entire liturgical cycle to form well-rounded Catholic Christians. A4. Nurturing the Vineyard Workers: The Spirituality of the Team (team building) o Phyllis Hachey (St. Timothy Parish, Lutz) How do we offer growth opportunities to our RCIA Team members so that those who are asked to be living water for others are able to be refreshed renewed, and live faith lives as salt and light? There is much to nurturing the spiritual growth of an RCIA Team and this session will explore ways and opportunities to communicate, enliven and invigorate your team throughout the year. A5. Grafted to the Vine: Sharing the Life of Christian Faith o Deacon Peter J. Burns (St. Timothy Parish, Lutz) The RCIA is an apprenticeship into the life, faith and ministry of Christ and the Christian community. According to RCIA #75, the formation of catechumens and candidates from their initial inquiry to mystagogy and beyond is an amalgamation of immersion into personal and communal prayer, liturgy, catechesis, community and service. There is no need to wait until the end, start at the very beginning to apprentice them into the life of Christ. B2. Tending the Vine, Fostering Growth: The Importance of Discernment Throughout the Process o Linda Johnston (Holy Family Parish, St. Petersburg) Discernment is integral to the whole process of the RCIA.it is not herd mentality. Prior to each ritual celebration the RCIA states that discernment is critical before the individual seeker moves on to the next step. This session will explore ways in which all who are involved in the initiation process catechumen, candidate, sponsor, RCIA Team member, and clergy are invited to discern the promptings of the Holy Spirit. B3. Reaping a Rich Harvest: Developing Formed and Transformed Catholics o Brian Lemoi, (Director of Evangelization & Lifelong Faith Formation) The story of the Road to Emmaus is the paradigm for moving from catechesis focused on information to catechesis that leads to transformation, thus fostering the development of faithfilled disciples of Jesus. This session will investigate Shared Christian Praxis and other models of formation that are holistic and multidimensional so that the head, heart and hands of the catechumens and candidates are engaged throughout the RCIA process. 3 P a g e

Blowing in the Wind: Music to Accompany the Journey o Jeff FitzCharles (Espiritu Santo Parish, Safety Harbor) Have you wondered how to incorporate music during the celebration of the various rites? Is music even considered? Each season of the RCIA process calls for music to accompany the pilgrims on their journey. In this workshop the various options and examples of music that can be incorporated into the key ritual moments will be presented, shared and sung. B5. La Recojida de la Cosecha o Bertica Juanpere (Incarnation Parish, Tampa) & Theresa Hernandez (Most Holy Redeemer Parish, Tampa) El RICA es vivir y experimentar el misterio de Cristo, en mi vida y en la comunidad de fe. The rituals of the RCIA are the bridges to the next period, so the content of the rite presumes a lot about the candidate. Do we?
