This Sunday is Pentecost Sunday. Pentecost is one of the 7 Feasts of Israel and the most recent to have a New Covenant fulfillment, which happened on the Day of Pentecost following the death and resurrection of Jesus. After the original Passover of the Exodus, on the same exact date that would become the Day of Pentecost, Moses was given the Law on Mt. Sinai and the nation of Israel was born. On the Pentecost following the death and resurrection of Jesus, the ultimate Passover Lamb, the Spirit was poured out and the Church was born. Tongues of fire appeared over the heads of the disciples as they spoke in languages they had never known declaring the wonderful works of God. (Acts 2:11) This was a fulfillment of the promise Jesus made to His disciples when He told them to NOT begin ministry yet but to WAIT for the Promise of the Father, the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 1:4-5) But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. (Acts 1:8) And thus the Church was born, having the power available to fulfill the Great Commission. In celebration of this birthday, wear red this Sunday to symbolize the tongues of fire. 2 F U S I O N FUSION RECAP SUMMER IS HERE! Here at FCC, we love Summer. Students going to camp! Students going on a mission trip! Seeing these students serve others is incredible! This also means that our Wednesday nights are filled with fun, excitement and a lot of water! Hope to see you this Summer! Thanks to all who donated shoes for the Soles4Souls project! Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7 There is no doubt that life can be stressful sometimes. My advice today: HAVE FUN! Don t let the little things get you down today! God gave you breath today, let us not take that for granted. It was a huge success! Together we collected 251 pairs of shoes. 3 WE ARE SO EXCITED ABOUT SUMMER HERE AT FCC! OUR FCC KIDS GET TO HAVE SO MUCH FUN AND LEARN ABOUT JESUS ALL AT THE SAME TIME! On Wednesday nights, we will be outside (Weather Permitting) playing games and enjoying the awesome summer that we wait for all year long. This is a great time to come, have fun, and invite your friends! Also through the summer, we will participate in service projects to help others in our community. We want to Love God and Love People. 4 FISH FRY 2017 To some people I m sure they would think that the Fish Fry was a bust. Sure we didn t meet our monetary goal, but it is not always about that. We should always make it about the fellowship and we had plenty of that plus good food and an awesome fun Saturday. For those who came out to support us in one way or another, we say Thank You! And for those who couldn t make it, we missed you and you missed an awesome time. I personally would like to thank the rest of the membership committee: Ron & Barbara Ford, Dianna Buis, Mary Gragg, Mike Simpson, and Bernie Kearns for helping me pull this all together in the absence of our leader, Bryan Bloomer. Our hearts and prayers go out to Bryan and Jamie on the death of her mother. I would like to also thank our extra helpers: Doug Buis, Mary Lesher, Rebecca Williams and MaKenzie Dickens. 5 M I S S I O N S M O N T H W R A P U P We, as a congregation, have spent the month of May focusing on various mission opportunities in our community, nation, and world. We have had speakers from local and national missions like Harris Hills and the Group WorkCamps our youth attend. The three international opportunities in Ecuador, Guatemala, and Kenya were also presented by the missionaries we will support. The Missions Ministry Team hopes that you were impacted by these speakers and have a renewed fervor to serve God by meeting the needs of those around us. As Christians, and more specifically, members of this FCC body, it is imperative that we serve those we encounter. It is also a promise that God will not call us to do anything He will not equip us to do. In other words, there is a service that everyone can do, regardless of age, health, or any other condition. God has a mission planned out for each member of this congregation, and the opportunities you have learned about this month may be the starting place for you to find that God-ordained niche. There are opportunities for everyone, doing anything from light yardwork to running errands to going to South America or Africa. We encourage you to get out of the pews to find your spot and to take the opportunities God has presented you with, whatever they might be. If you don t know where to start or what opportunities may be available for you, please feel free to contact any member of the Missions Ministry Team with any questions. 6 Girl Scout Troop #1629 Will be hosting a special Flag Day Celebration Wednesday, June 14 At 6:30 pm At the Flag Pole at FCC Guest Speaker: The former Mrs. Kentucky 2016, Mrs. Jackie Luttrell-Greenwalt, will be the guest speaker. Mrs. Luttrell-Greenwalt is an Edmonson County native and was named the winner of the 2016 Mrs. Kentucky pageant held at the Oldham County Art Center in Crestwood, Kentucky on January 23, There were 20 women in the pageant that represented areas from all over the State of Kentucky. Jackie, a 1993 graduate of ECHS, represented Kentucky in the Mrs. America Pageant which was held in August, From previous reports, Jackie is a very motivated and inspirational speaker. Girl Scout Sara Baker, daughter of Jeff & Elisabeth Baker, is working toward her Bronze Award in Girl Scouts and has taken on this project. Sara has been in Girl Scouts since kindergarten and just completed 5th grade at Science Hill. 7 FATHER S DAY IS JUNE 18 Like Mother s Day, Father s Day has a modern origin. The idea came to Mrs. John Dodd as she sat listening to a Mother s Day sermon in Her father, William Smart, had raised his SIX children alone on his farm in Washington after his wife died giving birth to their sixth child. Mrs. Dodd proposed to the Spokane Ministerial Association and the YMCA that they celebrate a father s day. She chose the 5th of June because it was her father s birthday. The idea received strong support, but the good ministers of Spokane asked that the day be changed to give them extra time to prepare sermons on the unexplored subject of fathers. The first Father s Day was observed on June 19, 1910, in Spokane, Washington, and soon other towns had their own celebrations. In spite of widespread support, Father s Day did not become a permanent national holiday until 1972, when President Richard Nixon signed a law declaring that it be celebrated annually on the third Sunday in June. 7

If we can get a couple of drivers, then a driver may only have to drive twice a month. Please let me know if this will work out for you. Volunteers Still Needed for Family Night Volunteers are needed on Wednesday nights to help clean up in the kitchen after the Wednesday Family Night meals just one time a month.
