If PGCPS open late, the Pantry will be open from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 noon. If PGCPS close early or cancel afternoon/evening activities on a Tuesday, the Pantry will be CLOSED. Greatest Needs Soups Low salt/no salt canned vegetables Brown rice Condiments (Ketchup, mustard, salad dressing, etc.) Volunteer Opportunity (Temporary) We need a volunteer to pick up at Wegman's (Crofton) on Friday mornings in March and April. Pick up time is 8 a.m. The Pantry picks up bread/dessert items from the loading dock. We bring our own totes/bags to pack the items. The amount of the donation varies, but it is usually 2 full shopping carts so you need a good-size vehicle for transport. Please call the Pantry for additional information.

2 Page 2 Scouting Food Drive The Annual Scouting for Food Drive took place on November 10, The Pantry appreciates all the hard work and effort by the scouts who placed bags on neighborhood doors and collected the food donations. A special thank you to all the Scout leaders and parents who make this event a priority year after year. It takes a lot of coordination, manpower, and dedication to make this drive a success. We look forward to the Scouting for Food Drive each year to fill our shelves until the holiday food drives begin. Many thanks to all who left bags of food for the scouts to pick up; your generosity is much appreciated. Thanksgiving 2018 Thanks to the generosity of so many in our community, 149 families enjoyed a delicious Thanksgiving dinner. Non-Profit Status The Bowie Interfaith Pantry and Emergency Aid Fund is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. 93% of pantry donations go directly to assist clients. Tax receipts are available for all donations.

3 Page 3 Christmas families picked up Christmas dinner baskets at the Pantry. Baskets included a choice of meat (ham, turkey, chicken), fresh vegetables, sides, and dessert. Oak Church Sports Ministry Individual Donors Trees The Bowie Lions Club donated 2 live trees including decorations to two of our families. Thanks to all who helped make the holiday more festive for these families. They were overjoyed by your generosity. Christmas Stockings and Purses Our adult clients enjoyed receiving filled stockings/ purses this year. Stockings/purses were filled with many items including puzzle books, candies, tissues, and lotion. Our Mission We are a community-based social services program providing emergency food and financial assistance* to those in Bowie and Prince George s County, who are experiencing need without regard to race, creed or gender. If we are unable to meet the needs, we will make referrals to others who may be able to provide the needed assistance. To serve with respect, dignity and without discrimination those in need in our community by providing food, financial assistance and other resource referrals. *Financial assistance is only available to residents of the City of Bowie

6 Page 6 Our Individual Donors The Pantry would like to thank all those individuals and families who support the Pantry throughout the year. Each week we receive donations of money, food, personal care items, and paper products from residents in the area. Whether you donate money, bring your donation to the Pantry or drop it off at one of our donation sites or local churches or temple, we appreciate your support. Every single item that you donate makes a difference. We could not do this labor of love without you! Bowie Food Pantry Garden: 2018 Summary 2,839 units (bags, bunches, numbers) were harvested from our garden. Produce included peppers, squash, cucumbers, eggplant, lettuce, tomatoes, and herbs. Our pantry is committed to providing fresh vegetables and fruit for our clients. The garden is a big part of this program in addition to the Bowie Farmers Market and individual gardeners. We are grateful to John Teasdale whose vision and hard work have made the garden a tremendous success. John and his team of volunteers planned the garden, prepped the soil, planted, weeded, watered and harvested throughout the spring, summer and fall. Many thanks to the garden volunteers: Peggy Brow, Madonna Chernesky, Pam Fleming, Sue Goldberg, Rob Kellaway, Sue Livera, Patty McCaughey, Ralph Moultrie, Annellen Moore, Martha Schmidt, John Teasdale (coordinator), Verna Teasdale, Joshua Wooten, Becky Yoblin, and Sharon Young.
