1 C A L D W E L L U N I T E D M E T H O D I S T C H U R C H THE JANUARY 2019 CHIMES To offer hope to our community and world through the Good News, and to make disciples of Jesus Christ based on Matthew 28:19 A new year - already? It's time to write 2019 on our checks and letters. It doesn't seem possible that another year has flown by already has left a mark on our hearts and in our lives. Some of us lost loved ones and friends in Some of us changed jobs or moved (yep, I'm one of those). Some of us started new relationships or welcomed new family members. Some of us have had health concerns and worries was a year of "ups and downs." So we look forward to with all its hopes and dreams and possibilities! Yet, we know that every year has its "ups and downs" and many things we expect to happen will not happen, and things we have not expected will occur! God knows what 2019 will hold for each of us. As we step forward in faith, we should look around and count our blessings and hold those dear to us even closer. Tell the folks you care about how much they mean to you. While the calendar may change, we remember days gone by and missed opportunities to express how we feel, so don't miss those moments that will live in your heart forever. I love to play with words and enjoy acrostics. So, as we finalize our Christmas plans and share the end of 2018 and the new beginning of 2019, I leave you with this thought: May you have JOY in your heart and life. JOY stands for "Jesus - Others - Yourself." How do we begin a new year? With JOY: putting everything in its proper order - Jesus first, others second and ourselves last. I look forward to meeting all of you and working with you as we discover 2019 together. Caldwell UMC is a very special place with wonderful people who know true JOY. 3 The Children and Youth Ministries team sponsored a Card Workshop in December with profits to go to the Elevator Fund in honor of Jerry Lowers. Jerry was one of our members who would have benefited from the use of an elevator in our church. He also was in support of this project and the Youth wanted to honor him. A donation of $500 was presented to the Church. Twenty-eight persons came out and made beautiful cards for the season. We want to thank Karen and Valeri for conducting our workshop, and your donations to our church. Thank you to all who attended and for the donations we received. 4 This year s Children s Program, under the direction of Joy Feldner and Rachel Pfeffer, was held Sunday, December 9th during the 10:30 worship service.
