1 Welcome to "Heard on the Hill"! This is an blast to keep all our friends and members informed of all the activities here at Willistown UMC. Please let editor, Sara Beam, know of any team meetings or events of interest that we can pass on to both the church community and our neighbors in the geographic community. Our RED CROSS blood drive is TODAY: 2:00 to 6:30 pm. There are still slots available. If you walk-in, we will fit you in as quickly as possible. You have read or heard what a difficult year 2018 has been. The Red Cross has a crucial need for donors, so tell your friends! A Prayer, Healing and Wholeness Service will be TOMORROW, Saturday, November 17 th at 4:00 pm. Join us for this wonderful opportunity to experience God s healing hand and a time for renewal through prayer and worship. Sunday is Commitment Sunday. Pledge cards will be blessed during worship. Please prayerfully consider your blessings and your service to Christ s community. You may return the card in an envelope addressed to Curt Wise AND BRING THIS Sunday morning. UPCOMING Twenty-Two Members, Friends and West Chester University's Grace Note Singers gathered on November 11th (Veterans Day) for our METHODIST BREAKFAST. The Grace Notes, a regular wonderful part of our church's programs, entertained us with several songs including Mr. Sandman (Remember that one?) and Swing Low Sweet Chariot. Each cast member introduced themselves and told us of their hometown, and major: Stephanie Vallinino (Belmont Hills) ~ Early Grades Prep. Anna Luchetti (West Chester) ~ Music Ed Karly Thomas (West Chester) ~ English, Journalism Lily Pedlow (Wayne) ~ Physics, French, Astronomy Jessie Hazell (Bucks County) Early Grades, Special Ed Sydney Thorpe (Lancaster County) Spanish, Peace Studies Our wonderful breakfast was, once again, prepared by Chef Kim Pierce and her incredible crew Grace Miller, Beth Southern and Bill Keating. A special note of thanks: The previous evening our very busy church hosted the very successful: "Concert for Those in Need". Afterwards a WUMC crew made sure the tables were set and ready for the METHODIST BREAKFAST. Many kudos. Christmas Flowers: Help decorate our church with Poinsettias for Christmas! Order them as a memorial to, or in honor of, a loved one. See insert on Sunday or attachment to order flowers. Deadline is December 2, Hilltoppers Trim-the-Tree Party will be held on Tuesday, November 27, Trimming will begin at 10:00 am followed by lunch at Fellini s at 11:30. 2 Next month's METHODIST BREAKFAST: Do you remember Martina Keogan, the artist whose program helped us learn about art and why we may prefer one painting over another? On December the 9th, she will again be our program and this time discuss the very appropriate "Religious Symbolism of Art". This should not be missed! Breakfast is at 7:45 am and program at 8:00 am. Tell Gil Fell if you can attend. Not too early to think about Christmas! On Sunday, December 2 nd, John Coakley and the Chester County Singers will be our choir and will perform for us at the 10:30 service. On December 16 th, our own wonderful choir will perform The Christmas Cantata, Mary Did You Know? at the 10:30 service. Don t miss these inspired musical events! Exodus 16:4 Cut out a portion of meat in your diet, either eating vegetarian for one day a week, or eating lower on the food chain throughout the week. It takes 12 pounds of grain to produce one pound of hamburger. This could make 8 loaves of bread or 24 plates of spaghetti. It takes 2,500 gallons of water to produce one pound of hamburger. This could be used to grow more than 50 pounds of fruits and vegetables. 2
