4 for your information Breakfast with St. Nick December 1, am - 11 am Christmas Pageant Rehearsals Rehearsals for the Christmas Pageant will begin December 3 at 5:30 pm in between the PSR sessions and will continue Dec 10 and Dec 17. Breakfast with St. Nicholas: The Knights of Columbus will be sponsoring their annual Breakfast with St. Nicholas on Saturday, December 1, 8am - 11 am. The pancake and sausage breakfast includes drinks and a special appearance by that jolly elf in red. Costs: Age 12 - adult: $6 Age 4-11: $4 Under 4 is free with a $20 cap per family. Photos with St. Nick are $3.00, extra prints $2 ea, and for a $5 donation the digital photo will be ed to you. Ho! Ho! Ho! - Come join the fun! Season for Sharing & Giving - Dec. 5, 7 pm Come learn about all the ways St. Joseph Parish helps our community through various programs. See page 4 for details. Immaculate Conception Holy Day of Obligation Masses There will be a Vigil Mass on Friday, December 7 at 6:30 pm and Saturtday, Dec. 8 at 9 am. Both Masses will be held at the PAC. All Mass Minister positions are open. Please sign- up now. Giving Tree Tags / Distribution Night Dec. 17 The items from the Giving Tree Tags must be returned to the PAC or the church no later than Sunday, Dec. 16. Distribution night will be Monday, Dec. 17 at 6:30 pm. Pizza and drinks provided. Parish Advent Penance Service, Dec. 19, 7 pm St. Joseph Parish will hold a parish penance service on Wednesday, December 19 at the PAC. Many priests will be available. Celebrate the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ with a clean soul. It will be a special collection of baby supplies only and will begin on December 26 through February 3, This will follow the ancient custom of the Three Wise Men bringing gifts to the newborn King. Details coming soon. Giving Trees Now Available The tags on the giving trees are waiting for you to pick them to help those in need in Plain City and the Holy Family Food Pantry. Choose as many as you can and bring the product(s) back no later than Sunday, Dec. 16th. Distribution night will be Monday, Dec. 17th at the PAC after pageant rehearsal at 6:30 pm. Thank you for your continued generosity. St. Joseph Parish family really shines, especially this time of year. Keep Christ in Christmas Poster Contest The Knights of Columbus Council #12772, will hold a poster creation contest for children of the parish from 5 to 14 years old. There will be three age categories: 5-7 years, 8-10 years and years (age as of Nov 1). Poster boards and instructions will be available this Monday before / during each PSR session. Completed posters must be returned no later than Thursday, Dec. 6 to the office. First place in each age group will win $25 and their poster will be forwarded to the Knights of Columbus District for further competition with the potential of going all the way to the national competition. Good Luck and get creative! SEASON FOR SHARING AND GIVING ADVENT EVENT Advent is a season for sharing and giving. We at St. Joseph s Catholic Church, have a wonderful reputation for giving of our time, talent, and treasure. Come and hear from speakers from local charities: St. Martin de Porres, Plain City Food & Clothing Pantry and DNA about the opportunities they have this Advent, and all through the year, to help those in need of a helping hand in the Plain City area. The Season for Sharing and Giving event will be on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at 7:00 pm at the PAC. This event is open to all, and light refreshments will be served. Please come to hear how we can improve the holiday season for others and ourselves. If are able, please bring gloves, hats, scarves, socks to donate for distribution through DNA and/or Plain City Clothing Pantry during the holiday season. page 4

5 December 1st: Christmas Under the Clock This year during the Plain City Christmas Under the Clock celebration in conjunction with the Plain City Church Fellowship, St. Joseph Catholic Church is sponsoring a booth near DNA that will honor residents and family members of Plain City that we have lost this past year. Escape Room Event! We need volunteers to serve at the table and have guests sign the Memorial Book, light a candle and give each guest a gift bag. The hours are from 5 pm to 8 pm. This is a great service project for our teens (at least one adult must be present). Please contact Mary Rice in the office at to sign up for a 30 minute slot. Thank you! I Give Catholic Kicks Off Charitable Giving Season: Celebrated annually on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #igivecatholic.org is an online giving day that kicks off the charitable season and brings the Catholic community together to give thanks and give back. This year, St. Joseph Parish will be participating.
