4 ENLISTING WITNESSES FOR JESUS CHRIST Today is Catechetical Sunday. The 2018 theme is: Enlisting Witnesses for Jesus Christ. Those who the Community has designated to serve as catechists will be called forth to be commissioned for their ministry. Catechetical Sunday is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the role that each person plays, by virtue of Baptism, in handing on the faith and being a witness to the Gospel. Catechetical Sunday is an opportunity for all to rededicate themselves to this mission as a community of faith. We have selected Edgewater Place as the recipient of our efforts. Each month a different class room will be creating seasonal greeting cards or placemats or other paper projects and we will deliver them to the residents of Edgewater Place. It is our hope to help share the love of Christ from our students to the residents each month. O God, Our Heavenly Father, you have given us the gift of these catechists to be heralds of the Gospel to our Parish family. We lift them up in thanksgiving and intercede for them concerning their hopes and needs. May we be attentive to the presence of your Word in them, a Word that lifts up and affirms, call forth and challenges, is compassionate and consoles. We pray that our parish family will always be blessed with those that have responded to the call to share in Christ s prophetic mission as catechists. May we too be open to the univeral call to service that Christ addresses to all of His disciples, contributing our gifts to the communion of the faith, the Church. 5 Children s Liturgy of the Word Are you a Fisher of Men? CLW will begin again on October 7 during the 11 am Mass. All children ages pre-school to second grade are encouraged to attend so they can hear the Gospel story on a level they can understand. CLW is offered on the first two Sundays of each month. Seeking Children s Pageant Leader and helpers Advent and Christmas preparations have begun. We need several volunteers to help coordinate the PSR children s Christmas Pageant. Please see Father Trapp or Maria Vonada if you would like to assist our children in this time-honored tradition at St. Joseph. The Pageant will be performed at the Christmas Vigil Childrens Mass on December 24. S T.
