2 From Pastor Dave: How can we follow up on a celebration for the resurrection of our Lord and Savior? If you weren t able to be with us for the Resurrection Service Easter morning, please go to our web site; connersvillefirst.org, and watch the service. I am so proud of our church and the many things we are doing to celebrate Jesus. There are so many folks I d like to thank, that I know I d leave someone out so please know that you are all a blessing to our church, the Kingdom of God, and me. What s on the horizon? Well, I m glad you asked! Your Staff Parish Relations Committee is looking for a person to get our Children and Youth ministries flying. I don t know if we put the egg before the chicken or vise versa, I only know that we are doing something. I pray that we are seeking God s will for Connersville First United Methodist Church. I am convinced that we are to be doing anything we can to create a place where all people can get to know our Savior better. In some cases, it might be for the very first time. We might hold the key for just one person to make a decision for Jesus Christ and that person might go out and be a blessing to the entire community. As I look at the river that runs through our beautiful community I can t help but think that we should be like that river, moving forward and every once in a while, like today, be way out of our comfort zone/banks, and be a place where folks will be moved to love Jesus. You are the key to that happening. You/We can do a lot of good in this town, and we do! You might be amazed at how many folks look forward to the second and fourth Thursdays of each month when the Free Clinic is open. Some of our neighbors don t have the money or the insurance to get healthy. We help neighbors come into Bonnie s office on Thursdays and receive gifts from the Giving Closet that you fill with your love. We have helped many folks with a few nights of rest at a motel, given many thousands of dollars to missions, and you make that happen. There are many people who receive the love of God through your church. Smile, God is blessed! I hope to see you in church every Sunday. We ve actually had several visitors in the past five weeks since I challenged you to increase our Sunday worship attendance by 10%. It isn t so we can boast that we have 125 or 190 OR 300 PEOPLE IN CHURCH, IT IS THE FACT THAT IF WE CAN HAVE THESE FRIENDS LEARN ABOUT Jesus and learn to love and trust Him that we will be doing exactly what God has asked us to do. Our denomination has a wonderful Mission Statement: Making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Our Statement is similar: We are committed to Leading people to Christ, Feeding the Flock and Serving others or Leading, Feeding, and Serving. I thank you for all you do for our church, our community, and the Kingdom of God. In the Service of Christ, Pastor Dave *************** THREE NEW BOOKS Thank you to Ed Slaybaugh for donating the following books to our library. In Heaven is for Real, when three-year-old Colton Burpo experienced an out-of-body experience during emergency surgery, he claimed to have visited heaven. He told about people there whom he had never met in his physical life and shared events that happened before he was born. His descriptions of heaven matched those in the Bible, though he had not yet learned to read. (2010, 154 pages) Beth Moore s Praying God s Word has over a million copies in print. Moore shows how praying the scriptures can help her readers deal with such problems as depression, bitterness, rejection, doubt and un-forgiveness. (2009, 340 pages) James and Betty Robison, co-hosts of television s Life Today, don t claim to be marriage experts, but after 50 years they say they are more in love now than ever before. In Living in Love, they share the secrets of staying love as they deal with topics like expectations, trust, communication, money, parenting and sex. (2010, 230 pages) These books will be available on the shelf below the bulletin board during May. After May, Burpo s book can be found in 248, Moore s in and Robisons in

The Supper Quilt, pieced together by Dr. Don Locke, DDS, was inspired by Leonardo da Vinci s painting of the Last Supper. The 15 ¼ feet by 5 ½ feet quilt has 51,816 one-half inch squares of fabric and was machine quilted by Linda Taylor of Melissa, Texas. 4 UMW TO GO TO BEEF & BOARD CHURCH BASMENT LADIES The United Methodist Women will again this year attend Beef & Board. The production is Church Basement Ladies 2. We have at present 28 tickets reserved and after May 1 st reservations will be open to first come, first serve. The production will be on Wednesday, July 20, We will plan to be there by 11:00am. The buffet is at 11:30am and the play at 1:00pm. Cost is $39.00 per person. This includes the buffet, tea, coffee, or lemonade and the gratuity. Of course, other drinks are available at cost. We will need to know how many want to go as soon as possible. Please reserve your place by May 10 th and have your money to Elizabeth Holmes by June 3 rd. Also if you can drive, please let Sylvia Gibson know. We had a wonderful time last year and I m sure we will all be looking forward to the second run. Pastor Dave & First United Methodist Church Huge thanks for your support of The Storm! We saw near 1500 in attendance with some 150 adult volunteers. God truly allowed us a great opportunity to minister and we saw His mighty hand at work. Some students went forth to make a decision for Christ with 60 emerging with a new found Savior! The book is based on a true story of a child who experiences Heaven but returns and through the innocence of a child, shares his glimpses of our heavenly home. It s such a heart warming, thought provoking story much too good to be kept on the shelf. If you are interested, please let me (Ava) know as soon as possible so that books may be ordered. Cost of the book will be approximately $15.00, or you can check it out in our church Library or visit the public Library. (It s a quick read). You won t necessarily need a book to participate, but you will need to have read it. The study group will meet immediately following our worship service.
