In New Bern alone 455 people were rescued from ﬂooded homes, 30 roads were unpassable and 4200 homes were damaged. Enter Manna One.

The NC Bap st Men do the cooking and serving of food purchased by the American Red Cross.

Originally described as a Category 4 hurricane it dwindled to a Category 2 hurricane by the me it hit the NC coast. Hurricane force winds were listed around 100 miles per hour rather than 125 miles per hour. That should be good news, but tell that to the people in New Bern and Wilmington. As the hurricane stalled it dumped 20 inches of rain on these coast ci es in two days. The Cape Fear and Neuse rivers ﬂooded their banks, adding to the misery. In New Bern alone 455 people were rescued from ﬂooded homes, 30 roads were unpassable and 4200 homes were damaged. Enter Manna One. Manna One is the massive 40 x 8 foot food truck owned and operated by NC Bap st Men. It is fully self-suﬃcient so it can go into an area with no water or power and serve 30,000 meals a day. The NC Bap st Men do the cooking and serving of food purchased by the American Red Cross. It s a partnership that has been going on for years that has literally saved lives, fed the hungry, and oﬀered hope in the name of Jesus Christ. And who is in charge of Manna One? Woody Tucker, a fellow member of FBC Hickory. Woody, along with John Tron and Robin Abbot arrived in New Bern with Manna One to begin feeding people aﬀected by Hurricane Florence. The name Manna One comes from the Exodus story of the Israelites ﬁnding bread-like wafer ﬂakes on the ground each morning while traveling through the wilderness. The word manna is a Hebrew word which means, What is it? It was the ques on the Hebrews had when they ﬁrst saw this miracle lying on the desert ﬂoor. The answer was, It was bread from heaven, sent by God to feed his people. The NC Bap st Men go into devastated areas where there is hunger, fear and despair. They bring bread from heaven to feed the mul tudes like God did in the desert with the Hebrew salves and like Jesus did with the 5000 who were hungry sheep without a shepherd. This is the work of Jesus in the world today and we have the sacred privilege of being part of it. I hope you will support these eﬀorts with your ﬁnances, physical involvement, and words of encouragement to our church members who are going into the world s places of devasta on with the bread of heaven in their hands and the love of Jesus in their hearts. 6 Reserva0ons Reserva%ons must be made every week The deadline each week for reserva%ons will be Monday at 5:00pm. Reserva%ons can be made as early as the prior Wednesday at the cashier s desk. In order to eliminate the possibility of individuals with standing reserva%ons not showing up for a meal, thus causing the church to lose money, we will not have standing reserva%ons.
