3 STEWARDSHIP & FINANCE The New Year is upon us and we have a lot to look forward to in Before we get to the business of striving for 2013 goals and raising expectations for the coming months, we need to celebrate We completed the second year of our Forging the Future campaign and we have just $80,000 of the $300,000 loan left to pay. That is a remarkable accomplish. Despite a considerable amount of concern about how we would finish 2012, we were able to fully fund our budget. We had an incredible December thanks to the generosity of the members. Many churches were unable to pay their apportionments in full, but Hanscom did fulfill our commitment. The members were very active in Share distributions, Beyond the Walls events, Mardi Gras, Youth events and the Block Party. We even got the Big Garden off the ground and harvested lots of fresh vegetables. What a fantastic year. You truly are good stewards and thank you for all that you do. Let s make 2013 even better. Maurice Mashek Chair, Stewardship and Finance LENTEN SMALL GROUP STUDY Our Lenten journey for 2013 will be spent in the Book of Jonah. To help us make the most of our journey, you are invited to join a small group that will meet during Lent. The study will help us all realize how very close to home the story of Jonah hits. In one way or another, Jonah s story is the story of us. We are all Jonah. Jonah Our very own fish story. Sign-up cards are located on a table in the narthex. You may choose to host a small group in your home, the church or other locations or just attend. Please let us know when is the most convenient for you. 4 Youth Stock Sales of Youth Stock Certificates are in full swing. If a youth hasn t asked you to buy stock, nudge em and they will. It is your best opportunity to get a behind the scenes look at the mission work they will do this summer. Soup Luncheon High Tea THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. The Warm Water High Tea was a lot of fun for everyone involved. We sincerely thank everyone who attended and promise to make the next one even better. We are currently discussing dates as to when that will be. Again, thank you for coming and we hope to see you at future teas. Bob Austin Sunday, Jan 27, 2013 there will be our second Soup Luncheon. The first one was a great success and we are hoping this will be even tastier. Please attend after the second service on January 27th and support the youth mission trip this coming summer. Game Night/Sleepover Come one, come all. Hanscom Park will be having an awesome Game Night Feb 1, All fun games will be represented from Apples to Apples to Cards to the Wii. The Youth Group will be hosting the event and attending to your every whim. Like popcorn, hot dogs and chips soda, board games, card games, electronic games, chitting and chatting. Get reacquainted with fellow Hanscom Park UMC neighbors and relax while we do the work. Festivities begin at 7 p.m. and run until 10 p.m. At 10 p.m., the youth are invited to stay for a sleep over. A movie will be run on the big screen along with Hide and Seek and new games for your entertainment. Breakfast will be served around 7 a.m. and the doors will unlock at 8 a.m. Please RSVP to anyone in the MiM or MiM Youth committees.
