He was also a cherished Zaida to 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He adored his family and they felt the same about him. Jack z l is missed every day and will never be forgotten by all who knew him. A hearty welcome to many members of the Midlash clan, who came to honour Jack Sculnick Z L, was extended to the families on behalf of the Young Israel. LIQUOR DONATIONS: A bottle was donated by Len Dworkin this week to honour the Yahrzeit of his late beloved mother Irene RABBI BANON S CLASS: The Rabbi s class this week will take place B H on Thursday Mar 7, at 7:45 PM after Ma ariv services. YAHRZEITS: a) We will need a morning service Tuesday morning March 5th for David Blobstein who has Yahrzeit for his mother; everyone is requested to attend. b) On Friday 1 Adar II / Feb 8 - your humble servant has Yahrzeit after his beloved mother Shifra who passed away 57 years ago. A Minyan is needed so I can say Kaddish. Please make every effort to attend. Breakfast supplied.

2 BIRTHDAYS: HAPPY BIRTHDAY and MAZAL TOV to Marilyn Narvey who celebrates her special day on Tuesday March 5th with her loving family. AD 120 and to many more! MAZAL TOV: MAZAL TOV to Daisy and Chuck Millman, long time members of our shul who now live in Cote St. Luc, on the birth of their first grandchild, a beautiful baby daughter born this week. Lots of naches to the entire family. SHUL NEWS: A number of members have asked us when we are planning to bring in new Mehitzas to replace the poor excuse of what we have today. The Executive had also indicated it s desire to do a new paint job, change the stairs on the stage, put in carpets, and do a few other Sanctuary enhancements. Given that elections will be held in 6 weeks, these projects, which of course are not urgent, are currently on hold for the new (old) Executive to finalize at the appropriate time. CONDOLENCES: The Young Israel of Chomedey and its members extend their deepest sympathies to long-time members, Leona & Hy Sternfeld on the loss of their brother & brother-in-law Sol Israel Sternfeld. May the family know no further sorrow. PURIM: Purim tickets are selling at a brisk pace. With 3+ weeks to go, we are already up to appx 75 tickets sold. At $20 a ticket for a super deluxe kosher meal with wine, that is a real bargain. Breaking news! We will have musical entertainment in the form of a keyboard pianist who will provide us with Purim and other appropriate music for the occasion. There will be gifts for all kids courtesy of Natalie and Adrian Bercovici. And we are confirming that we will have considerably worthwhile prizes for best adult and best children s costumes. There may be other surprises. Please get your tickets ASAP - no tickets sold at the door. We are shooting for tickets to be sold. Join your fellow shul members in one of the happiest holidays on the Jewish calendar. REFUAH SHLEMA: a) A REFUAH SHLEMA to Rabbi David Banon, our Rabbi s father, who underwent an abdominal hernia operation last Monday, and is now home recovering. 4 PARSHAT HASHAVUA - WEEKLY TORAH PORTION The Parshah in a Nutshell Pekudei Exodus 38:21 40:38 An accounting is made of the gold, silver and copper donated by the people for the making of the Mishkan. Betzalel, Aholiav and their assistants make the eight priestly garments the apron, breastplate, cloak, crown, hat, tunic, sash and breeches according to the specifications communicated to Moses in the Parshah of Tetzaveh. The Mishkan is completed and all its components are brought to Moses, who erects it and anoints it with the holy anointing oil, and initiates Aaron and his four sons into the priesthood. A cloud appears over the Mishkan, signifying the Divine Presence that has come to dwell within it.

5 MEMORY LANE # 11 (EDITED) FROM THE BULLETIN OF THE JEWISH CONGREGATION OF ST.MARTIN SEPTEMBER 1960 EDITION NOSTALGIA EDUCATION We are pleased to announce that registration for Hebrew Kindergarten and Nursery classes have now been completed, and 130 children have been enrolled! There will be 3 Hebrew classes weekly for each grade of 1 ½ hours each. We were fortunate to enroll teachers from our own community. They are: Mrs. Bernice Berbrier, Mrs. Claire Leaman, Mrs. Paula Blaichman, Mrs. Barbara Dumansky, and Mrs. Margaret Schramm. Our Rabbi will act as Principal and will also teach more advanced pupils. MAZAL TOV TO THEM AS FUTURE SUCCESSFUL JEWISH CITIZENS OF OUR COMMUNITY WELCOME TO OUR COMMUNITY We are indeed fortunate that two young doctors have decided to take up residence in St.Martin. Both will have offices at 1039 Notre Dame. Dr.Rubin M.Feldman received his BSc from McGill and is married to Minnie Bistritsky. They moved to France where he attended medical school at the University of Montpellier, while his wife worked as a teacher. They have a son who was born in France. Upon their return, he interned at the Jewish General and the Queen Mary Veteran s Hospital. He is assistant resident in medicine of the University Medical Clinic which is a research unit of the Montreal General Hospital. He is also on staff at the Jean Talon Hospital. Dr. Sidney Feldman is not related to Dr. Rubin Feldman. He attended Folk Shule in Montreal until he was 16, and he speaks Hebrew fluently. He attended McGill University where he received his BSc. He is single and he also went to France to study medicine at the Universite de Paris. In 1953 he went to Israel with a group of French students. He stayed on when the rest returned to France, where he worked at Mishmar Hanegev and at K far Saba Hospital. Upon his return to Montreal in 1955 he interned at the Jewish General. From there he went to Florida and spent a year at the Orange Memorial Hospital in Orlando. From there he spent a year at the famous Cleveland Clinic, and upon his return to Montreal he spent a year at the Queen Mary Veterans Hospital. In 1959 he wrote a paper on diabetes in pregnancy which was presented to the Universite de Paris. He is also a teacher at McGill in internal medicine. They will be on call to our community 24/7 and are equipped to handle any emergencies. WE ARE THRILLED TO WELCOME THEM TO OUR COMMUNITY, AND WISH THEM SUCCESS!
