4 AREA DAY SOCIAL ACTION PROJECT Homelessness has grown tremendously in our community. There are homeless people on freeway entrances and exits, under bridges, and on the streets. This year for our Area Day social action project, we will make individual bags that can be handed out to homeless individuals we encounter in our neighborhoods. We will be asking each sisterhood to bring one (or more) of the items listed below to contribute to this project. We will each sisterhood president with a request for a donation from the sisterhood. Sisterhoods may sign up at the link below. All items can be found at the 99 Cent Store or Dollar Tree. Individuals may also contribute an item. Sign up at the link below. At Area Day, we will make bags for each registrant to take home with her. These bags are ideal to carry in our cars and to hand out to the homeless people we encounter at intersections and on the street. The people who receive these bags appreciate them. Our hope is that you will continue to make bags after Area Day and carry them with you on your daily car trips. You can include any useful items you wish and we will provide instructions on how to replicate this project in your community. We also hope you will share this project with your families and friends. Thank you for your help in this project! Items We Will Need from Sisterhoods to Make the Bags: Protein bars - 25 Peanut butter single serving cups - 25 Small water bottles 8 oz. (case of 24) Fruit cups - 25 Vienna Sausages 25 (Individuals may also contribute.) To sign up go to Questions? Please contact: Jodie Reff at reffhouse@sbcglobal.net. 4
