2 2 Kol Isha January/February, 2019 ~ Tevet Shevat / Shevat Adar I 5779 Spirituality President s Message Happy 2019, Sisterhood Members & Friends! A new year brings a fresh beginning as well as a continuation of that which has occurred before. As I write, it s the last night of Chanukah and I m looking at my menorahs, lined up end-to-end with candles. Tomorrow they ll be cleaned of stray wax and put away for another year. The whole cycle ends and begins anew. Some things change and some things stay the same. The most enduring part of our lives are our family members and friends; and I ll always cherish those rocks of stability in my life. We re kicking off 2019 with 2 fabulous programs, ranging from an historical presentation of Jews in Ventura County to meeting the author of Forbidden by Faith. You are also invited to participate in a Sisterhood social action program for Many Mansions. And, of course, January means our annual Mah Jongg Tournament. Get ready to order your delicious hamentaschen, because before you know it, Purim will be here too. As always, you can find all of our events in the Bazman, the Kol Isha, the temple website, Facebook, and the blasts we send out. Dates and times will be included on these sites. And we always invite EVERYONE to come to all of our events. Sisterhood sets up the wine and challah for the family, and we re asking for volunteers to accomplish this. You need to arrive half an hour before services begin (9:30 a.m. or 4:30 p.m.).

The following is a list of available upcoming dates through June, 2018 where we can use your help. NEW VOLUNTEERS WANTED AND NEEDED! We would love to train you it s easy, rewarding, and a mitzvah. Sisterhood sets up the wine and challah for the family, and we re asking for volunteers to accomplish this. You need to arrive half an hour before services begin (9:30 a.m. or 4:30 p.m.). It takes about hours of your time including a short clean-up after services. You ll receive 15 donor credits. If you ve never done it before, there s always someone willing to teach you. Be an Academic Angel by spending only 1 morning sorting & organizing books in the children's library - to create a more effective environment for study & homework people needed. 2.)
