COMMUNITY HOLOCAUST OBSERVANCE Our community Yom HaShoah commemoration will be held on Sunday evening, May 7 at 7:00 p.m. at Congregation B'nai Jacob, 176 West Side Avenue.

2 COMMUNITY HOLOCAUST OBSERVANCE Our community Yom HaShoah commemoration will be held on Sunday evening, May 7 at 7:00 p.m. at Congregation B'nai Jacob, 176 West Side Avenue. Rabbi Brickman will participate in this commemoration of the Holocaust, which is always a very moving ceremony. We hope that you will join us for this important event. The annual Holocaust commemoration sponsored by the Jewish War Veterans at Liberty State Park will he held on Sunday, April 30, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. at the base of the Liberator Monument. BRASS SEAT PLATE ENDOWMENT FUND The Temple has undertaken a very important fund-raising project to increase our congregation's endowment funds. For $150, you can have a brass plate installed on one of the seats in our sanctuary. The deadline for placing your order is June 30, 2000, so the plates can be installed by Rosh HaShanah. Remember we need a minimum order of 100 seat plates, so every one counts. Call the Temple office now for an order form, or if you have any questions. GROUP TO DISCUSS "THE RED TENT" Beginning on Wednesday evening, May 3, the Rabbi will lead a discussion group on Anita Diament' s new book, "The Red Tent." The novel is based on the life of the biblical character, Dena, and has become a best seller across the county. The group will meet at 7:30 p.m. in the library in the Temple House at the comer of Bentley Avenue. If you are interested in joining this discussion group, please call Rabbi Brickman, , and let him know. "The Red Tent" is available in bookstores in paperback.

AM OPPOR'J'UMITI FOR A MITZVAH There are many opportunities to perform a mitzvah at the Temple. Among them are: Blessing the Shabbat candles or reading the prayer before the Kiddush at our Friday night services; Reading the Aliyah at services; Haftarah or having an our Saturday Morning sponsoring an oneg Shabbat after Friday evening services either in honor of a special occasion in your life or for no reason at all. 5 FUND-RAISING COMMITTEE EVENTS Sunday, May 7 Cantor Schwartz and Karen Elkind will present a delightful afternoon concert at the home of Nancy and Nathan Sambul, 97 Mercer Street in downtown Jersey City. The concert will begin at 3:00 p.m. Tickets are $18.00 Wednesday, May 10 Our day will begin with a tour of the Daily News Building, and we will conclude our visit to New York City with a tour of Channel 13 in the afternoon. In between, there will be an opportunity for lunch on your own in the Daily News Building. The bus will leave from the Temple at 9:45 a.m. and from the St. Johns Apartments at 10:00 a.m. The cost of this event is $ Sunday, June 4 The rabbi is preparing an intimate dinner at the Temple at 6:00 p.m. in the social hall. The reservations are limited to 50 people. The cost is $25.75 per person (including a contribution to MAZON}). Thursday, July 13 Trip to the Paper Mill Playhouse to see "Pippin."
