3 Letter from Jerusalem about the foods and their ingredients which are part of our Torah and our other Holy books. A Personal Update: Biblical Foods: I was talking with my personal trainer who told me of some more interesting details of her mother-in-law 's work. Previously, I had written that there is a restaurant in Tel-Aviv which served foods found in the Bible once a week. Dr. Tova Dikshtein was their consultant. Recently, some of her work includes bringing her foods and giving a demonstration regularly at the Migdal Daveed museum in Jerusalem's Old City. She has researched grain that was thought to be "chametz" and her research showed this isn't so. She has planted an amazing botanical garden and placed within it a large calendar in a park called Neot Kedumim. There, visitors can see the specific plants that bloom at a specific month of the year. One can see the plants referred to in the Mishna, the Gemorah and the Bible. Actually, many non-jews visit to learn of the plants which were mentioned in the time of Jesus. The Neot Kedumim Park, located not far from Lod, is the only place in the world which has plants and trees relating to Jewish history. Israel holds an annual Bible Quiz and the contestants as well as professors and rabbis are among those that come to hear Dr. Dikshtein's lectures. It was inspiring to hear how our People of the Book are so eager to learn 3 My book is now being sold by the Book Depository, as well as by Amazon. It is also available in the Jewish Book store in Milwaukee and the Temple Israel gift shop in West Lafayette, Indiana. In addition, my local English speaking chapter of Emunah, a women's organization which supports educational institutions here, has chosen me to be their honoree of the year. My orchestra has performed for the group with great success on a number of occasions. I hope, in the future, to describe the ceremony that should take place in February, The Talk of the Town: Thank G-d it is not of missiles and rockets, but of snow. Unlike the last big snow fall, schools were closed in time, main transportation arteries were blocked off early in the day, and just about every activity, store, concert hall, etc. is cancelled.
