2 2 The theme of this year s SHABBOS TIFERES,. כל העולם כולו גשר צר מאד was,שבת פרשת וישלח held Shabbos Tiferes has a powerful impact on the rest of the year. Filled with inspiring Divrei Torah, enriching מוצאי שבת activities, meaningful murals, delicious food, a moving choir presentation, and an incredible program, this year s action-packed weekend, arranged by students from grades 9 and 12, was no different. Our guest speaker, Mrs. Faygie Minkowich, honoured us with her presence and her words throughout Shabbos. She offered many insights and sources into the theme of our Shabbos, understanding that ה is always taking care of us. Many thanks to our Shabbos Tiferes Heads, Chavi Marder, Sarah Mammon, and Sarah Frisch Israel, who worked tirelessly with student council head, Mrs. Pazit Shukroon, to arrange such a magnificent Shabbos. Thank you to all our Committees for their hard work and dedication: Baking, Centrepieces, Choir, Decorations, Divrei Torah, Food, Kits, Motzei Shabbos, and Murals. Much gratitude to our Host Families, Brody, Ciss, Hytman, Jacobs, Kaiser, Klompas, Marder, Marder, Nadoff, Nemetz, Plonka, Rubinoff, Spiro, Spitzer, for opening their homes to our students and guests. 3 3 This year s SHABBOS TIFERES CHOIR performed a song written by our very own, Neima Mandel and Miriam Schlam (grade 12). When you re blinded by darkness or blinded by light You feel it s not easy to get through the night, Just close your eyes and remember the time when everything turned out just fine. Every step that we take and every choice that we make will change who we are, and changes what will be, So just go ahead and take your step fearlessly. 6 6 A CHANUKA YOM IYUN, held in conjunction with the Chanuka Mesiba, enhanced our students understanding of to יוונים in direct opposition of the goal of the,גדולי התורה eradicate תורה learning. As always, a sincere thank you goes to Mrs. Lipner, Shaina Forman, and Levana Ouanounou. 7 7 The SHINING HINING STARS CHESED PROGRAM had our students preparing Chanuka Gift Bags for children with special needs. The event was arranged by Shining Stars representatives, Nechama Kaiser & Dafna Somogyi. The program ended with Sara Gitty Lemberger ( 09) thanking our current volunteers and encouraging our students to participate in this meaningful experience. Headed by Miriam Hytman and Avigayil Skosowski, this year s MISHEMERES program is well under way. The לפי מחסום is observed daily at 11:00 am, as a רפואה שלמה or as an עליה for a.נשמה You can contact the school office to add a name for the לפי.מחסום CHESED HEADS, Talia Klein & Chavi Wagowsky, continue to network with city organizations to find chesed opportunities for our students and to provide help wherever it is needed in our community. Join your friends every Tuesday at 8:30 pm for COFFEE SHOP - an inspirational חברותא learning experience with young women from the community. Contact: Atara Katscher (647) ספר תהלים The first five minutes of lunch every Tuesday are dedicated to reciting the entire UESDAYS. זאב ישראל בן אסתר Salmon, for Dr. רפואה שלמה for a זכות was started as a TEHILLIM TUESDAYS Our PEER TUTORING GROUPS continue to help fellow students acclimate to the increased work-load of high school. Thank you to our Special Ed. Department, Mrs. Shayna Friedman and Mrs. Lynn Lichtenstein, for creating this program, and to our volunteers for giving their personal time to assist their peers.

8 8 We d like to thank all of our ACTIVITY PERIOD TEACHERS for another successful session. The girls enjoy this weekly break from classes and the chance to learn new skills. 9 PAGE 9 ET G F OR P: N T O V D RS TO The DESSERT RECEPTION FOR WOMEN & GIRLS will be on Motzei Shabbos, December 28. Our FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE, Daliah Adler, Elisheva Nemetz, and Michal Silver, continue selling coffee every day, in addition to Muffin Wednesdays and Pizza Fridays. They are also selling fresh soups once a week. All money raised goes towards the senior graduation trip at the end of the year. Our YEARBOOK EDITORS continue their efforts to create a colourful keepsake of their senior year. The girls are busy raising money for the yearbook by selling ads. You can help too! All parents, family, and friends are invited to PURCHASE A YEARBOOK AD to honour their graduate. See order form on page 12. Reminder: All ad text is due by January 14th. Dr. Norman Smith, Guidance Consultant Dr. Esther Shkop, Dean of TTI Seniors who are interested in pursuing careers in the Social Sciences had the opportunity to speak to Dr. Norman Smith during a lunchtime questionanswer period. The senior class heard from representatives of Darchei Bina, Emunah v Omanut, Machon Ra aya, Scharfman s, Stern College, TTI, Tomer Devorah, and Touro College, when they visited the school this month.

10 10 Tiferes Bais Yaakov is proud of its efforts in maintaining a close קשר with our graduates and we offer many opportunities for our alumnae to gather together and keep their connection to Tiferes strong throughout the year. CHANUKA GET TOGETHERS took place in Toronto and Yerushalayim this past week. The Class of 2010 gathered at the home of classmate, Nava Berenblut, for latke making, cookie decorating, and of course lots of eating. Mrs. Orly Turtel spoke to the class about recognizing the everyday ניסים that ה does for us. The Jacobs family hosted the class of 2013 for a pizza party in Yerushalayim during Chanuka. It was nice to see Nava Berenblut ( 10), Hindy Edell ( 11), Sarah Encaoua ( 11), Shira Kurtz ( 09), Sara Gitty Lemberg ( 09), and Ariella Weinberg ( 11) this month. ALUMNAE VISITORS - BE IN TOUCH!
