7 LITERATURE REVIEW Cosmic energy is the energy which is present in the universe, this energy can be healed by human by doing some mediations. From the ancient time this comic energy is healed by mediation by all the human beings to live a positive and peaceful life. The ancient people in the olden days used to spend more time meditation to achieve more cosmic energy from the universe. This people who spent more time in meditation are called as Rishi or Maharshi. It is believed that my obtaining more cosmic energy one can leave for more than 150 years. In Himalayas there are many rishi or maharishis who dedicated there life to god and doing meditations for many years for more cosmic energy. By meditation we can achieve more cosmic energy from the universe which helps to get more and more positive and good health. From the ancient time to modern life time the process of obtaining cosmic energy is same but the meditation style changed due to pollution. More cosmic energy is gained by the universe if the meditation is done in pyramid shape structure. The rishi or sadhus or maharishis do there meditation in Himalayas or in the mountain areas because of the shape of the mountain. The mountain acts as the pyramid and gives more concentration to the person to meditate. The process of obtaining cosmic energy will never change from the ancient time to modern time because the people and the environment changes but the energy in the universe will not change and it should be obtained in peaceful manner. The most popular and old science on the nation is said to be vastu Shastra. The concept vastu Shastra came from the ancient people who started changing their modern life from caves to houses. When the ancient peoples started developing their life s in building their houses. The houses which are built by the ancient people were totally based upon the elements of nature which helps to get more natural energy from the nature. This arrangement of elements vi

8 in nature is said to be vastu Shastra. The house or building should be ventilated with nature light and air flow then it is said to be a proper vastu house. The concept of the vastu Shastra is totally based on the five elements of nature. Once the elements are arranged in the house then that houses is said to be a well element based house. In other words it is said to be pure vastu house. From the ancient time the concept of this vastu Shastra doesn t change. In this modern life the house and buildings are constructed as per vastu in which the principle was maintained same from the olden days. The vastu guru or lord of vastu Vishwa Karma constructed many towns and areas by the principle of this vastu. vii

The vastu guru or the lord of architect Vishwa karma builds all the areas and colonies and the forts by the principle of vastu Shastra. The vastu Shastra is the oldest science which is used by all the civil engineers and architects. The concept of this vastu Shastra is to arrange the five elements of nature in each and every house and room. 2. VASTU SHASTRA The information about vastu Shastra is available from last 5000 to 6000 years only. But the information was destroyed by time of vastu before 5000 to 6000 years. FIG 1: VASTU SHASTRA 1

11 Vastu Shastra and Cosmic Energy When load manu started new life after the universal destruction i.e. after parlay, it was a new beginning of human life with new civilization. In Himalayan terrain there was a woman named Sharaddha who came across manu. Their offspring s came to known as Manav the man or human being of new civilization. When these new civilization people came out of there caves for new and modern life to make their artificial residences it became the first step towards vastu Shastra. The environment and the nature provide us many things for construction like stone, wood, mud, bamboo etc. by this the construction in modern life or civilization which give birth to planning and design of town. Vastu is the art and science which deals with the principles of architecture and town planning. Vastu it is playing the major role from the ancient time to the modern life. It is connected to the human life everywhere and every time. The importance of vastu is to control the five elements of nature. Vastu means the dwelling of humans & Gods. Vastu Shastra is an ancient science which helps one to get the natural benefits freely offered by the five basic elements of the universe in which we all live. These basic elements are Akash (SKY), Prithvi (EARTH), Paani (WATER), Agni (FIRE), and Vayu (WIND). Vastu Shastra can be applied by keeping in harmony with these basic five elements of nature. Vastu Shastra is an edifice science that was developed by our learned people thousands of years ago. Its application today is purely architectural and its principles are based on becoming one with nature. Many Vastu rules are derived from Vastu Purusha Mandala which is depicted as a man lying with his head pointing north east, in a grid of usually 64 squares. The different directions and sectors are assigned to different Gods and Guardians. In doing Vastu of any place, home, work place, building, factory, land or plot we try to harmonize the place with respect to the five basic elements called as Panchbhoota namely Air, Water, Fire, Earth and Space. We shall discuss about importance of each of this 2

12 Dr Ranjeet Pujala element and how well we can harmonize them to relieve a stressful life, protection and prosperity in our lives. 3. ELEMENTS OF VASTU Vastu Shastra is totally connected to five elements of nature. Vastu use the utility maximum from nature in order to make human life happy and prosperous, vastu use the natural elements in construction to get good result for the person or family. The five elements of nature: 1. Earth / Land. 2. Water. 3. Air. 4. Fire. 5. Space / Sky. 4. DIRECTIONS AND THEIR IMPORTANCE IN VASTU In vastu there are 8 directions out of this 4 are coordinal direction and these directions are EAST, WEST, NORTH and SOUTH. The rest four are sub-coordinal directions and these directions are North-West, North-East, South-East and South-West. All the directions have a specific effect in vastu Shastra, these are the foundation stone of vastu, based on the directions a house and the rooms in houses are constructed. Every direction has its own importance in vastu 4.1. North Direction As per vastu the North direction is dedicated for the land of KUBER. He is the god who controls prosperity and wealth. Northern part of the house is treated to be a place which will involve a lot of wealth and prosperity for the residents. There are few other gods who are representing this North direction like, DITI, ADITI, SARP, SOMA, BHALLAT etc. other than KUBER. The north part of the house which is constructed should be open and free of air flow should be more. 3

13 Vastu Shastra and Cosmic Energy Northern part of the house should be low in height as compared to the other direction because of this lord kuber will bestow blessing and prosperity for the residence. If a house is facing North direction then more open space should be left for verandah in the North direction and the main door should be bigger than other doors at this side when compared with other, then this house will accrue positive energy North East Direction North-East direction is represented by the Lord of LORDS; this direction is related with health, wealth and source of prosperity. North-East direction is also called as EESANYA in vastu. To accrue positive energy, northeastern part of the house should be kept light and no heavy objects should be kept at this place. To get proper effects of Lord Brahma that part should be as lightest as possible. North-East direction is important because of the combination of magnetic rays of North and solar of the East. The place at North- East direction should be kept open with more open space and it should be kept lower in level compared to other parts. With the lower level in North-East it attracts good health, wealth and long life. This direction is belongs to the water element so at this direction the storage of water should be kept in the form of underground water tanks. This direction should be more than the other sides in the plot East Direction East direction is dedicated to the Lord Indra. God Indra is the symbol of prosperity thus this direction brings prosperity. If the house is constructed the east side place should have an open space because of the flow of solar energy or sun energy and the light. Eastern side should be at lower level when compared to other directions it help to flow the sun energy properly. This direction is mainly related to forefathers and parents and it is the source of more male children. There are few more gods who are dedicated with direction like EESH, JAYANT, SURYA, SATYA, AKASH, AGNI, etc. 4
