9 INTRODUCTION Dreams are one of the greatest gifts a person can give to him or herself. Talking about the dreams which you see by your open eyes not by your closed eyes. Many people make their dreams to die under the family and society. Dreams are not trash! They are the passion. If you will kill your passion, nothing would be left after that. This sci-fi book is all about that. People says that don't dream big, I say you to dream big! 90% people fail in their life not because they dreamed so high, They got failed because they dreamed very much low. This book is for dream followers and for the people who wants to do an extraordinary things in their life. This book is surely gonna help you to work on your dreams. 12 Prateek Pandey It was sunday morning, I was a teen of sixteen of class tenth,studying in verandah. My board exams were over. Well others study before exams but i used to study after it. My dad at the very moment brought a gift for me! I was very much excited for that. Looking at it with my glittering eyes. It was packed with a newspaper. "Unwrap it son. look what's in it! ". My father said. I happily opened that with lots of excitement. It was a book-'your friend written by Prateek Pandey'. It was a book related to The Universe. I was expecting anything else but a gift is always a gift. "Wow dad, A book on cosmos. You are the best dad of the world! ". I said. Well it's common to say this to flutter your dad but as all other teens, I usually felt that my mom and dad are annoying. I don't know the reason. But on that day when i was happy with my book and my dad i saw a newspaper article on extraterrestrial existence. The article was of the same newspaper from which my book was packed. "OK, Son now I am going to get ready for going to your Uncle Rahul's house you also get ready. ". My dad said. Then he went inside the house. I didn't exactly remember what was written in it but i still remember that somewhere it affected my mind. I had just read two paragraphs suddenly, "Come on Sid. We are going to your aunt Sangeeta's home", My mom said. 1

13 The War Against Future My mind was for sometime hanged or don't know what happened but i didn't spoke. This time in an angry voice "Sid! what are you thinking". Mom shouted. This time i said "Awmm nothing mom coming". That newspaper article somewhere affected my mind. My mind was struggling to know the answer of a very old mystery. Are we alone in this infinite Universe? My heart was saying not to go to aunt's house but my mind was in the favour. I favoured heart. Again "Sid are you ready or not? " Mom said in a cool voice. "NO mom I have to study my history lessons. I am not going! ". Surprisingly she agreed. I was not much interested in my new book rather than my mind was busy with that article. That article made me to think again and again and AGAIN! I was not able to sleep also that night. On the next day, Early morning at 6 a voice shouted "Wake-up Sid and get ready for school". It was my alarm clock. That day my alarm clock tried five or six times to wake me up but that was not sufficient for me. Finally, Mom came and said"wake-up son otherwise you know what i will do". In a strong voice. "OK mom OK". I said but still at this age also I don't know what she always used talks about to do, Mmmmm may be to pour a glass of water on my face! I woke-up like a snail-brushed like a lazy cat 2

14 3 Prateek Pandey and dressed up like a sloth. In a week I used to bath only for two days -Tuesday and Thursday. So that day was not allotted for bath. When I got ready for my breakfast it was already 7:30. I started calculation in my mind, The result-i was late. So that day I didn't ate my breakfast and marched towards my school. Without breakfast! Because of not eating breakfast I was feeling tired. I must say it was my good luck or bad luck i don't know but on that day when i was feeling tired and was already late for my school, On my way to school, A dog started chasing me. That dog was a Neapolitan Mastiff. Large white teeths ready to broke the shell of a tortoise also. I started running with my full speed. That dog didn't chased me for a long time, Maybe he chased me for maximum one minute but that one minute was like an hour. That day I realised that time is an illusion. Einstein was right! It was my bad luck because a dog chased me! Good luck because I reached the school quite early. Means I was late but not the latest. The latest was my friend Kapil. As he was a good student my maths teacher didn't scolded him. I felt little bad. Well after getting two slaps on my soft cheeks I sat on my bench. The last bench. I was a last bencher. My maths teacher was a good person and... nothing else I now remember about him. That day he teached us Circles. The next period was of english. I can't forget the scoldings by my english teacher. She was also a good teacher but she never liked me because I and my friends always used to talk in her period.

15 The War Against Future On that day when she came, I saw me throwing paper balls on Kapil. "Sid come here". She said. In a low voice I answered"sorry Mam". I said She shouted "Are you listening or not? Come here! " I started quivering in fear, My mind started hammering, Legs started shaking. My mind and heart both were yelling to run but I was in such a situation that I couldn't favour any of them. I slowly went there. "Come On do fifty sit-ups". She said. Everyone started laughing at me. I said "Come On I am a healthy boy". I started ONE-TWO-THREE-FOUR...EIGHT...TWELVE and then surrendered. "Sorry mam i will not do it again". As I already said she was a good teacher, She did'nt agreed. "No MR Sid come on you are a healthy boy. Start doing it right now. " Again TWELVE- THIRTEEN-FOURTEEN-FIFTEEN...FORTY- EIGHT...FIFTY! The word fifty was like a treasure. "Oh! Such tiring sit-ups". I said in a tired voice. My legs were having no more power. It was like somebody soaked all my power! Rest all the periods were good. I now only recognize only three teachers-maths, English and History. My history teacher was very much knowledgeable and he always used to be very passionate towards his teaching. His teaching tricks were as much good as he can educate a real donkey also but I was more than a donkey. 4

16 Prateek Pandey When the classes got over at 2:00PM, I started walking toward my house with one of my classmate. He suddenly started talking about Parallel Universe. I asked"what is parallel universe? ". "Awwww... you don't know about parallel universe. Come On dude you should know it". Then he started telling it to everyone as if I did something wrong. Everyone started laughing at me but i was knowing that many of them don't know! Do you know? After spreading it everywhere he joined me back. In a low voice "Well what's your plan Sid for our football tournament? Means you are the best player of our team! Yes I was a good football player in my school days. I answered "Well good players don't plan they just play". In a heroic way. He laughed cunningly. I then reached my home and said goodbye to him. As I entered my house my mom started asking various questions-how was your day? -what new things you learned? I just ignored her and went inside my room. Turned my shoes, Niggered my bag on my chair and my socks on the floor and sat on the bed. At the very moment my mom entered the room. I watched her facial expressions changed. "Sorry mom, I will updo all this". I said in a buzzing sound. "Hmmmmm in five minutes I will come back". She said. I started from my socks. I kept them into my shoes then folded my school uniform and i went on 5

17 The War Against Future doing this. After some time... "Phewwww...what an active boy I am,i did so much of work in less than five minutes". I said in a tired voice. Then I reclined on my bed and started thinking about my football match. I started imagining... I am playing so nice, I scored four goal in four seconds!! Suddenly my mom came in the field and.... "Sid! Five minutes are over son". My mom said. Within few second I came back to my room from the football stadium. "Now study! ". Mom said "What study. Mom i just came from school". "You will study or not? " "I will! -I will! ". I murmured. "You don't know son life is a race in which only few are winners" "But mom see Thomas Alva Edison he was a fool in his childhood days but he invented bulb" "Son they were special. GOD GIFTED! " "Ok Ok". Then she left. As you know that i used to study after exams. YOU KNOW THE REASON FOR THAT? THINK! I tried to studying. As I was in no mood to study my mind started thinking about ALIENS!...Before reading that newspaper article also I read many articles, Saw many documentaries on extraterrestrial life but nothing before disturbed me again and again and AGAIN!...It was like Newton's apple. He must have seen many things before also falling but when 6

18 Prateek Pandey an apple fell on his head then only he asked why?... Well it's a wrong story. While thinking i thought to make the sketch of an alien. I started, I made his head like human being, His hands like human being, His chest and stomach like a human being, His, legs also like a human being. Finally I realised that I made a human being! At the very moment my mom came. "what you were studying? ". She said. I got scared. "Nothing just making diagram of a human body". I said. "Hmmm... good show me your diagram! ". I showed her the diagram, She got very happy. "Nice, study you are surely going to get good marks in board exam". She said very happily and then she left, I felt shame on me! Mom and Dad do so much for us why we don't make them happy. Sometimes we hurt them for a good will and for sometimes bad wills. I started my studies. I took out triangles(maths)! The first question was...i think it was given that- Name the polygon with the least number of sides possible? You know? I skipped that question. Then the second question was to find the area of an triangle of side 12 cm and height 6cm. I skipped that question. Then I started skipping each and every question. Finally i got bored in just ten minutes. I then took out the book which my dad gave me-your friend -Written by Prateek Pandey. As i opened that I found many 7

19 The War Against Future terms related to cosmos which i never heard before. Well from my knowledge i think that the laws of physics and chemistry works on the whole Universe but it's not sure that the biology would also be same as it is on the earth. Well i can't be sure for physics and chemistry also. I opened the section-the expanding universeand started reading it... ' The great dark universe not as we think it is. It is something very much dark, having lots of hidden secrets in it. ' I just read only these line and then i started feeling bore. BORE! Then after that tough one hour i came out of my room as a prisoner who really wanted freedom, But "Hmmm your studies are over? " "Yes mom over". I said. "In just one hour? What you studied? " "Maths, Maths and Maths and Your friend. This much i studied". I answered. "Wow! Nice". Mom said. "Mom your child has a hidden potential". I answered. "Hmmm...nice. Just bring 8 CGPA in class tenth and we will do a trip to kashmir! ". "Ok. I will". I said Well when i was in class tenth, It was the year of our school's golden jubilee! Sorry but that was not a moment to be happy. That year our principal ordered students that the school will continue for 2 days after final exams also, So that the students who were not going to take admission in this school after 8

20 Prateek Pandey that year can talk to their teachers!... Is school is the only place where we can meet our teachers, Because of this only i had to go to school even after board exams also! After that hard one hour i took a long sleep. That day i dreamed very odd dream!... The results of boards exams were declared. I, My mom and dad were sitting and were ready for the results!...i got A1 in all the subjects! My mom-dad everyone was happy. My parents started calling my grandparents and to all the relatives. They were so much happy to say that i got A1 in all the subjects! But that was only my dream that i saw by my closed eyes! I woke-up shouting MOOOM!. She came in my room. "What happened son? ". she asked restlessly. I told nothing to her because of fear. The fear of that what will happen if she will listen that i saw a dream which can never be possible. "Nothing its was just a horror movie scene! ". Then also she was not willing to leave me alone but i told her that i am fine! Well she said one thing while she was leaving the room. "Sid start your studies! ". At that time i thought that -Is she really loves me? I then started my studies. Again with maths. This time the question was-what is the formula for the sum of AP?. The answer is simple but for me it was like someone told me to learn the whole periodic table in just thirty seconds! Most of us can not recite it also. I again started getting bore! So, i again started making the sketch of an alien. My alien 9

21 The War Against Future was having eyes like eggs, head was like a bell, he was not having mouth like us instead he was having a vacuum pump like structure, his middle body was like us and his legs were also like us. This was the new sketch of an alien. You think that it was funny, Think again! every thing in this Universe happens for some purpose. Can you imagine this sketch? TRY! I then started coloring my alien with beautiful colours but at the very moment my mom came. "What you are doing? ". She asked. I answered"nothing just i was studying". "Show me your copy! ". She was looking at me in a very fearful way. Her eyes were getting redder and redder and REDDER! Her eyebrows were looking like a bow. OOOooooo... what a fearful situation that was. After seeing my copy she asked"which type of human is this? ". Then something unusual happened. She started laughing. I asked"what happened mom? ". She said nothing and continued her laugh. I also closed my eyes and started laughing. I thought that she will just laugh and will go but suddenly the sound of her laugh stopped coming. When i opened my eyes i saw her angry face. Firstly she gave me a slap then again a slap on the other cheek and then lectures. "You know nothing Sid, You are just a kid". "I know that this is a cruel world so what? ".I said. "So you should study hard son. Otherwise there is no place where you will be happy".mom said. 10
