10 X F V V F J he osary of the Virgin ary, which gradually took form in the second millennium under the guidance of the pirit of od, is a prayer loved by countless aints and encouraged by the agisterium. imple yet profound, it still remains, at the dawn of this third millennium, a prayer of great significance, destined to bring forth a harvest of holiness. t blends easily into the spiritual journey of the hristian life, which, after two thousand years, has lost none of the freshness of its beginnings and feels drawn by the pirit of od to set out into the deep (uc in altum!) in order once more to proclaim, and even cry out, before the world that Jesus hrist is ord and avior, the way, and the truth and the life (J 14:6), the goal of human history and the point on which the desires of history and civilization turn. he osary, though clearly arian in character, is at heart a hristocentric prayer. n the sobriety of its elements, it has all the depth of the ospel message in its entirety, of which it can be said to be a compendium. t is an echo of the prayer of ary, her perennial agnificat for the work of the redemptive ncarnation which began in her virginal womb. With the osary, the hristian people sits at the school of ary and is led to contemplate the beauty on the face of hrist and to experience the depths of his love. hrough the osary the faithful receive abundant grace, as though form the very hands of the other of the edeemer. postolic etter osarium Virginis ariae 18. he osary is one of the traditional paths of hristian prayer directed to the contemplation of hrist s face. ope aul V described it in these words: s a ospel prayer, centered on the mystery of the redemptive ncarnation, the osary is a prayer with a clearly hristological orientation. ts most characteristic element, in fact, the litany like succession of ail arys, becomes in itself an unceasing praise of hrist, who is the ultimate object both of the ngel s announcement and of the greeting of the other of John the aptist: lessed is the fruit of your womb (k 1:42). We would go further and say that the succession of ail arys constitutes the warp on which is woven the contemplation of the mysteries. he Jesus that each ail ary recalls is the same Jesus whom the succession of mysteries proposes to us now as the on of od, now as the on of the Virgin postolic etter osarium Virginis ariae 19 believe, however, that to bring out fully the hristological depth of the osary it would be suitable to make an addition to the traditional pattern which, while left to the freedom of individuals and communities, could broaden it to include the mysteries of hrist s public ministry between his aptism and his assion. n the course of those mysteries we contemplate important aspects of the person of hrist as the definitive revelation of od. eclared the beloved on of the Father at aptism in the Jordan, hrist is the one who announces the coming of the Kingdom, bears witness to it in his works and proclaims its demands. t is during the years of his public ministry that the mystery of hrist is most evidently a mystery of light: while am in the world, am the light of the world (Jn 9:5). onsequently, for the osary to become more fully a compendium of the ospel, it is fitting to add, following reflection on the ncarnation and the hidden life of hrist (the joyful mysteries) and before focusing on the sufferings of his assion (the sorrowful mysteries) and the triumph of his esurrection (the glorious mysteries), a meditation on certain particularly significant moments in his public ministry (the mysteries of light). his addition of these new mysteries, without prejudice to any essential aspect of the prayer s traditional format, is meant to give it fresh life and to doorway to the depths of the eart of hrist, ocean of joy and of light, of suffering and of glory.

11 he lessed other appeared at Fatima, in ortugal, to three shepherd children, ucia dos antos, Francisco and Jacinta arto, on six occasions between ay 13th and ctober 13th in ary revealed herself as ur ady of the osary and called for conversion in the lives of tall od s people. ay is the month of the lessed other and ctober is the month of the osary fter these events Fatima became a very popular place for prayer. large church was build near the place where ary visited the three children. wo of the children, Jacinta and Francisco, died soon after ary s visits. ucia, however, grew up and became a sister. We remember ary s visits and celebrate her title as ur ady of the osary on ctober 7.

17 F 1) onsecrate your body, your five senses, and all you have... V Y e was form a wealthy family. is father owned a nice clothing store. e had more than enough money. e wasn t interested in studying, only in parties and music. ut he never turned his back on a poor person. When he was 20 years old, he went to war and was imprisoned. When was freed, he bought himself the best armor and horse an went back to war. n his way back, he encountered a poor soldier who didn t have the money to buy armor and a horse. Francis was moved and gave the poor soldier his own. hat night e dreamed that in exchange for that gesture, he would receive better armor to fight the enemies of the spirit. e never made it to the battlefield because he become ill. e heard a voice say to him, nstead of serving men, why don t you consecrate your self and serve the upreme hief of all? e returned home silently and thought about his future. e was not the same Francis as before. e was very silently and pensive. hanks to an inspiration by od he gave everything away and went to live amidst the poor. ne day he encountered a leper and was disgusted. e heard a voice say to him that to be a saint, you must dominate your instincts and tame your senses. e kissed the leper s sores and from then on dedicated himself to visiting the sick. e took some of his dad s materials and sold them to fix the village church. is dad was furious and disowned him. ince he had given away all his closets, the ishop gave him robe of the farm workers with a rope to tie around his waist. his would be his clothes for always. e dedicated his life to prayer and to the poor and the sick. e was often attacked by impure sensations of the senses. o conquer there bodily passions (overeating, seeing or listening to vulgarities, saying bad words) he once rolled in thorns. e would say, treat my body harshly, because my body wants to treat my soul harshly. e dominated his senses. any people and animals followed him. he doves followed him and formed a cross over him while he preached. ven a ferocious wolf converted and become tame. e invited people to love Jesus. e love poverty. e realized that often material things separate us from the path to od. iscussion What is humility? t is simplicity of heart, and of spirit. t is to learn from Jesus and learn of is greatness t is not believe ourselves greater than others. umility is, like ary, to say Yes to od.

18 F 2)onsecrate our memory, intelligence, imagination, words, and all of our gifts V F e was the youngest of 3 brothers. e was from a middle class family. is father wanted him to dedicate himself to business. is mother wanted him to be a priest. e wanted to be a teacher. hey were a very devout family. hey lived with piety, serenity, joy, and peace. is mother died when he was fourteen years old. efore she died, she asked him to become priest. e wanted to follow her advice, but before doing so he put this in the hands of the Virgin ary saying, always want to belong to Jesus. his was his first offering. efore doing anything, he would ask, oes od want this? oes Jesus want this? e would act, converse, talk and love as Jesus would. e always accepted the will of od. e was a priest for 26 years. n his first mass he said, remember my to mothers: mmaculate ary and mama icaela. is model was t. eresa of vila. e wrote much to spread the doctrine and message of loving Jesus and ary: books, magazines, newspapers. e also founded institutions for children (Friends of Jesus), young adults, and adults. e would say: ive freely what was given to you freely. is virtue: Faith. e was attacked often by the envy of others. ut he never criticized them nor lost confidence in the ord. e always defended truth and justice. e knew od would not abandon him. is motto was, e silent, pray and wait. e would always wait for od s response to his prayers. n the face of problems, prayer would support him and give him strength to be silent with patience. e is the patron saint of the Friends of Jesus and ary. iscussion What is Faith? Faith is to believe before seeing. Faith is to pray and to have confidence in Jesus. Faith is, like the Virgin ary, to ask from Jesus and is favor to receive. Faith is to follow Jesus nd in Jesus and ary live

For the next edition, each country will contribute at least two songs in whatever language. he songs must be sent to the Florida enter for eace by eptember 30, We need to find a way to keep the adolescents that have been in our groups for many years. n these two years, our prayers and efforts should be for the ages 12 and on. We should develop a guide for the pre-adolescents and the adolescents. ur goal is to make them the future leaders of our groups. he need to find uniforms for the children and the leaders for special occasions was brought to our attention. ach country promised to design a uniform by eptember 30, We will vote on the best one and the winner will be announced in ecember. any voiced the need for an nternational ongress for children. We all agreed to place this need in prayer and to explore the possibilities of making this dream come true. he minimum contribution of $25 per country will continue to be collected. We ask all countries to continue sending the contribution because the funds are necessary to continue operations. We need a piritual irector for the movement. We asked Father anuel ernandez to help us and he promised to give us an answer. ll countries should pray much so that od sends us a piritual irector. We reminded all countries that the Formation raining ession for new leaders is available. country in need of a raining ession should contact the Florida enter for eace at least six months in advance. We ask all countries that belong to this movement to continue praying for the countries that do not speak panish as a primary language and that we continue helping each other in daily prayer. his is a movement of Jesus and ary. We are simple instruments. We must always remember that they are the head.
