"Get up and pray so that you will not fall into temptation." "es, it is as you say," Jesus replied. 4hen ilate announced to the chief priests and the crowd, " find no basis for a charge against this man." 5But they insisted, "He stirs up the people all over Judea[b]by his teaching. He started in Galilee and has come all the way here." lide earning uke 23 6n hearing this, ilate asked if the man was a Galilean. 7When he learned that Jesus was under Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who was also in Jerusalem at that time. M ilate sends Jesus to Herod (uke 23:6-7) lide earning M Jesus appears before Herod (uke 23:8-10) uke 23 8When Herod saw Jesus, he was greatly pleased, because for a long time he had been wanting to see him. From what he had heard about him, he hoped to see him perform some miracle. 9He plied him with many questions, but Jesus gave him no answer. 10he chief priests and the teachers of the law were standing there, vehemently accusing him. 4 of 8

Dressing him in an elegant robe, they sent him back to ilate. 12hat day Herod and ilate became friends before this they had been enemies. M Jesus is ridiculed (uke 23:11-12) lide earning 4nce more ilate came out and said to the Jews, "ook, am bringing him out to you to let you know that find no basis for a charge against him." M Jesus before the crowd (:4) lide earning M crown of thorns (:5-6) 5When Jesus came out wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe, ilate said to them, "Here is the man!" 6s soon as the chief priests and their officials saw him, they shouted, "rucify! rucify!" But ilate answered, "ou take him and crucify him. s for me, find no basis for a charge against him." 5 of 8

" am innocent of this man's blood," he said. "t is your responsibility!" 25ll the people answered, "et his blood be on us and on our children!" 26hen he released Barabbas to them. But he had Jesus flogged, and handed him over to be crucified. lide earning 16Finally ilate handed him over to them to be crucified. o the soldiers took charge of Jesus. 17arrying his own cross, he went out to the place of the kull (which in ramaic is called Golgotha). M Jesus carries his cross (:16-17) lide earning 18Here they crucified him, and with him two others one on each side and Jesus in the middle. M Jesus is crucified (:18) 6 of 8

M Jesus insulted by criminal (uke 23:39) lide earning M he other criminal s request (uke 23:40-43) uke 23 40But the other criminal rebuked him. "Don't you fear God," he said, "since you are under the same sentence? 41We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong." 42hen he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom." 43Jesus answered him, " tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise." 7 of 8

"et's decide by lot who will get it." his happened that the scripture might be fulfilled which said, "hey divided my garments among them and cast lots for my clothing." o this is what the soldiers did. lide earning 28ater, knowing that all was now completed, and so that the cripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, " am thirsty." 29 jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus' lips.
