2 The tory fter King olomon, the twelve tribes of God s chosen people had many kings. Ten of the tribes lived together as the nation of srael, and the other two lived as the nation of Judah. The ten tribes of srael became wicked and disobedient and forgot everything Moses had taught them. Their last king, King oshea, did not love God. e killed God s prophets, and his people worshiped idols. Because of this sinful disobedience, the O sent halmaneser, king of ssyria, to remove the king and all the people of srael east into the land of ssyria. From there they were scattered through the country and never again returned to their homeland. Only Judah remained in Canaan, the romised and. King ezekiah was the leader of Judah. The Bible says he was a wonderful king. e loved the ord God and kept is commandments. e destroyed the idols that were in his country. The believers were very happy to have King ezekiah, and the O was with him. The city of Jerusalem was full of songs and psalms of praise to Jehovah. When their enemies, the ssyrians, tried to capture Judah, King ezekiah prayed to the O. The O spoke to the great prophet, saiah. e said, Tell King ezekiah that heard his prayer. The ssyrians and their new king ennacherib will not defeat your people. ou will be safe. When ennacherib and his army came to fight Judah, the O sent an angel into the camp of the ssyrians and killed 185,000 of the enemy soldiers. oon after this wonderful deliverance, ezekiah became very sick. saiah the prophet went to him and said, "The O says, 'et your house in order, for you shall die, and not live. Then ezekiah prayed to the O and cried in sadness. saiah again came to King ezekiah and said, The O said, have heard your prayer, have seen your tears; will heal you. ezekiah said to saiah, "What is the sign that the O will heal me? Then saiah said, o you want the O to make the shadow on the sundial move forward or backward? King ezekiah said, ave the O move it backward. o it happened that the O made the sun move backwards and made the day 10 hours longer. The O added 15 more years to King ezekiah s life. fter ezekiah died, his son Manasseh became the new king of Judah. The O has promised to answer the prayers of those who believe in im.
