1 Making Disciples of those Nearest, our Neighbors and the Nations February 2017 Keeping Carmel Connected

2 February 2017 Carmel Friends and Family: Not so long ago, television broadcasting transitioned from black and white to color. I fondly remember the first time I watched a TV show (The Wonderful World of Disney on NBC) in color. The clarity, detail and visual richness was incredible. When I traveled to Israel for the first time in 2009 and walked dusty trails to places I had studied, it was like my Bible turned from black, white, and red to technicolor. It was an unforgettable experience that helped me fully understand - for the first time - the Jewish history behind our faith in Christ. I hope you ll join me on Saturday morning March 4 - not in Israel, but in Uptown Auditorium - for this year s Life in Christ Conference. Israel expert and trip leader Brad Gray will bring to life the scripture and history of Christ in a way you have never experienced! All the details are to your right on Page 2. As disciples of Jesus Christ - THE Rabbi - we are called to follow behind him, walk in His ways and be transformed for His glory. Come on Carmel - let s get dusty! Let s follow in His footsteps - no orange Birkenstocks required. Love you Carmel, Pastor Alex 1 Visit us at carmelbaptist.org

3 Explore the Bible in it s context. Change the way you read scripture. Energize your faith journey. Experience a dynamic morning of learning from Brad Gray and others who ve traveled the Holy Land at Life in Christ Conference Walking in the Dust of The Rabbi Saturday, March 4-8:30am - 12:30pm The deadline to register at carmelbaptist.org is Sunday, February 26 Got Kids? We ve got complimentary childcare AND camel rides! When you register for the Life in Christ Conference you can also register your kids (infant - 6th Grade) for complimentary childcare. The morning will fly by as the kids are cared for while enjoying fun activities, crafts, and entertainment - including real camel rides! About Brad Gray Brad is a Teaching Pastor, author, and Biblical trip guide from Nashville, TN who s time in the Holy Land drastically changed the landscape of his life. Understanding the Bible in its historical, cultural, and geographical contexts unleashed for him the depth and nuance of the Bible in the most compelling and awe-inspiring of ways. Brad loves his family, enjoys the outdoors and admits to being a sucker for chocolate, fajitas, and tangerines. Carmel s annual Life in Christ Conference is designed to equip, challenge and encourage all to be followers of Christ in learning and learning. Visit us at carmelbaptist.org 2
