See YOU on April 14 at our VBS Training Linda Chinery, HVBA Director As we think forward to VBS 2012, what particularly comes to your mind: Could it be: Not already! Where will we get the workers? Who will teach? Who will prepare food? Who will lead music? Who will transport kids? Who will gather materials for crafts? Who will lead recreation? Who? Who? Who? Does the thought of VBS overwhelm you? For me NOT AT ALL!!! I look forward to the opportunity to find workers who are excited about sharing Jesus with boys and girls, their families through teaching God s word; singing and doing the motions to fun songs that tell about Jesus; by making crafts that place an emphasis on life application and Bible verses; through games that build relationships; by preparing food and snacks, with loving hands, for boys and girls; the smiles, the hugs, the rewards of knowing one more child has heard that Jesus loves them: that is my motivation! When I stop and take into consideration that over 216,000 were enrolled in VBS last year and more than 6100 made a profession of faith as a direct result of VBS well, it doesn t take long for me to get excited about VBS 2012!!! It is not about a particular curriculum or theme it is about being obedient and going, doing and sharing the gospel of Jesus with boys, girls, families and communities! How do you look forward to VBS 2012?? Preschool Directors and Workers Come join us as we fly to some of the world s greatest natural wonders! Each day we will have preflight inspections, develop our flight plan, and soar full throttle to Victoria Falls, the Northern Lights, Paricutin Volcano, the Great Barrier Reef, and Grand Canyon, and the Matterhorn. During our Journey, we ll learn a lot about God, His amazing power, and His great love for us! As we gain altitude, we ll learn about all the curriculum changes before it s time for baggage claim. So, come on! It s time to board the plane! Jill, Penny and Linda Children s Directors and Workers Bible Study Crafts Missions Join the Younger and Middle Children s Bible Study team as we gather at Victoria Falls to kick off each day s Bible Study. We ll look at the literature and learn how to customize it to your church s individual needs. We ll look at different ways to share out Awesome God s Amazing Powers with children in 1st and 2nd grades (younger children) and 3rd and 4th grades (middle children). Bring your best ideas to share and go home with new excitement and ideas. Be sure to jump-start this year s VBS at the Amazing Wonders Children s workers training. Elaine, Naomi and Margaret 2

3 Calling All VBX Teachers 5 6 Graders ex- 5th and 6th grade leaders: Let s get ready to take off and visit some of God s Awesome Wonders this year in VBS. I will introduce you to VBX. VBX is designed specifically for 5th and 6th grade preteens to get them excited about God s Word and also they will learn about some God s most awesome wonders in the world. I can t wait to see you there as we prepare for an citing VBS experience for our preteens!! of Melissa Montgomery Youth VBS YES! There is VBS for Youth! Attention Youth VBS leaders, the weather is warming up and that means Associational training is coming soon. This years youth VBS, The Race: Experiencing God s Great Power, is going to take students on an amazing journey around the world where they race to natural wonders and encounter God s power. Let s get prepared together, to experience and share the power of Christ! (Psalm 147:5) Rev. Blake Montgomery Adult VBS Time sure does fly! It is hard to believe it is time to take off on another high flying adventure in Adult VBS. Time is not the only thing flying this year either. The adults who join us in Adult VBS this year will be flying high on God s Amazing Wonder Aviation. I want to challenge every church in the Holston Valley Association of Baptists to have at least one Adult VBS group this year. Begin now to pray daily for Adult VBS. Set and publicize your dates and place. You can do adult VBS when the rest of your church does VBS, for those parents dropping off kids, and the adults who are not otherwise involved in VBS. It can be done on Wednesday nights as Bible Study, or as a short term Sunday School or Discipleship Training class. Hey, there is a great parenting component to the adult curriculum as well. Check it out in the Adult Leaders Pack with Enhanced Interactive DVD. Who knows you might find some new teachers and prospects for your church to help her fly high as well. Time to take flight. 4 Attention All Commissioned Co-Pilots (Church VBS Directors) Of Amazing Wonders Aviation Psalm 147:5 Encountering God s Awesome Power You might wonder why we would see our Church VBS Directors as Co- Pilots and not Pilots. Have you ever seen the bumper stickers that read God is my Co-Pilot? When it comes to this year s VBS we want God to be the Pilot, and we will gladly serve as His Co-Pilots. Thank you for serving as your church s VBS Director and as a co-pilot as God leads you and your church VBS team in all your flight preparations for the best Bible School ever. Thank you for setting a good example for your church VBS team by leading the way to the Association s Church VBS Clinic on Saturday, April 14, at East Rogersville. Kathie and I will do our best to make sure that all your final pre-flight checks are a.o.k. and that you have earned your wings. Begin your journey with a stop in the Aviation Hanger for a glimpse of the Aviator Pops before we take off to view some of God s amazing wonders beginning with the Northern Lights, where you will see Northern Lights Cookies. At the Matterhorn you will see the beautiful Matterhorn Strawberry Peaks then journey on to the Paricutin Volcano for Petite Paricutin Sandwiches. The journey would not be complete without a view of the Grand Canyon where we will view Grand Canyon Parfaits. A snack will be provided for you to enjoy on your return to the Aviation Hangar. 5 5 VBS Materials Are Ready to View and Place Your Order! Are you finding it hard to think of VBS at this time of year! VBS time will be here soon! We will be getting our VBS materials this year from LIFEWAY (not Morristown Christian Bookstore) but the fairly NEW STORE in Morristown, 130 Terrace Lane, Suite 3, (across from Morristown all on the east end of Morristown). We will be working with them to get our VBS materials. We will be happy to get your materials for you just as we have done every year with no shipping cost. Just come by and view the materials and place your order to call and give me your order on the phone. If you want to help the association with our consignment, call the association office ASAP and order your VBS materials today. This will help us by letting us help you. If you are in the Surgoinsville Church Hill Mount Carmel area, we will be glad to get your materials for you. I know it would be closer for you to the Kingsport store but if you allow us to get the materials, Holston Valley will get the consignment which will greatly help our budget. Materials are NOW in the office for you to view! WOW! The materials are great and I get excited just looking over them. Amazing Wonders Aviation OR Space Quest. You can have a first hand look at the material and all the goodies that come with it. VBS Open House will be on March 9th but you do not have to wait until then to see the materials and place your order. Just come by any day between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. (we are usually out for lunch between 11:30 1:00). Just give us a call if you are coming around lunch time. Sometimes we get out at 11:30 and other days it is later when we get to leave. Materials are ordered, so the earlier you get your material, the earlier you can begin studying, planning, gathering supplies for your class and praying over them every day until VBS. REMEMBER you do not need to wait until March 9 or April 14 to get your materials. I already have the materials for you to see. So come by and place your order NOW to get your materials before the clinic or give me a call and place your order on the phone! THE SOONER YOU ORDER THE BETTER! IT WILL TAKE SOME TIME TO GET THE MATERIALS HERE! SPACE TO EARTH THIS IS YOUR COMMANDER SPEAKING: WELCOME TO CLUB VBS: SPACEQUEST STATION I invite you to accompany me, in our SpaceQuest Capsule, as we embark on an out of this world adventure! So buckle up and hang on tight and lift off and explore the craters and crevices of Club VBS 2012: SPACEQUEST. We are going to have a galaxy of fun while we journey into space and have mission briefings about ways to share Jesus mission with our kids aka Astronaut and their families through: Mission Celebration; Mission Preparation; Mission Accepted; Mission Accomplished; and Mission Continues. Discovering that Jesus is The Way, The Truth and The Life! Before entering back into the atmosphere, we will tether up to the craft space station, the recreation space station and the snack space station and observe all that SPACEQUEST has to offer.
