2 Welcome and Grace of Hospitality *Bringing In the Light of Christ and Opening Praise *Call to Worship (responsively) Strength is commanding the wind and sea to obey. Strength is wielding a slingshot in the face of a raging giant. Strength is accepting vulnerability from inside the boat. Strength is standing in solidarity with the powerless. Strength is turning a cheek. Strength is loving an enemy. We come now to worship the One, True God. God who redefines our vision of strength. *Hymn No. 133 Prayer of Approach Leaning on the Everlasting Arms (in unison) Mighty God, who speaks a word of peace to calm our troubled sea; Caring God, who nudges us away from fear and toward faith; Ever-present God, who fills us with awe but also raises many questions without easy answers; open our eyes to see you in our boat today. Between all of the planning, the saving, the waiting, there is still some fun to be had. Diana is registered at Buy Buy Baby and Walmart. Sugar and spice and everything nice, that s what our girl is made of. Little bows, pink toys, little toys, lifetime of joys. Tickle us pink! There s a new mommy to be! Help us welcome into this world our newest baby girl.

6 MARYS House MINISTRY ALLIANCE FOR REGAINING YOUR SAFETY MARYS House is a 501(c) (3) organization that exists to ensure safety, advocacy, and independence for victims of domestic violence. MARYS House provides emergency safe shelter for families who are victims of domestic violence. While providing a safe place to stay they also provide food, clothing, personal hygiene items, counseling, resources and referrals according to individual needs. During the stay at our shelter, each client works with our professional staff to identify needs and set goals. Clients receive individual and group counseling, case management, referrals, advocacy, and all basic living necessities during their shelter stay. MARYS Hope is a transitional program to assist in regaining independence. Hope will help start a new life with self-confidence, a life free from abuse. Hope assists individuals in building self-esteem with education and employment assistance, teaches budgeting and socialization skills. Hope also offers workshops, support groups and Bible studies, along with a variety of classes and therapies to develop healthy life coping skills. What is domestic violence? Physical abuse is the use of physical force against someone in a way that injures or endangers that person. Physical assault or battering is a crime, whether it occurs inside or outside of the family. Any situation in which you are forced to participate in unwanted, unsafe, or degrading sexual activity is sexual abuse. Forced sex, even by a spouse or intimate partner with whom you also have consensual sex, is an act of aggression and violence. Violence is not always physical. Many men and women suffer from emotional abuse, which is no less destructive. Unfortunately, emotional abuse is often minimized or overlooked even by the person being abused. Emotional abuse includes verbal abuse such as yelling, name-calling, blaming, and shaming. Isolation, intimidation, and controlling behavior also fall under emotional abuse. Additionally, abusers who use emotional or psychological abuse often throw in threats of physical violence or other repercussions if you don t do what they want. Economic abuse Rigidly controlling your finances, withholding money, making you account for every penny spent, withholding basic necessities, restricting you to an allowance, and stealing from you. Ways to help: Financial contributions are always needed. Pantry Drives: MARYS House provides meals for our victims who stay in our shelters as well as give assistant to those who are transitioning to independent living. We always need pasta noodles and sauces, breakfast cereals, fresh fruits and vegetables, fruit juices, flour, cornmeal, sugar and spices. We also need other supplies such as toilet paper, paper towels, tissues, laundry detergent, dish detergent and allpurpose cleaners.
