Through the use of language, imagery, and metaphors that are inclusive of gender, sexual orientation, race and ability, we affirm that all of creation bears the image of God. 6 Mobile offering First United accepts offering by mobile phone. Please text funkelowna to Hospitality, Human Rights and Sumud Thank you so much to everyone who came out on June 4. Together we raised over $ for Skate Qilya, sent over 30 letters to our MP and Prime Minister, supported Palestinian producers and crafts people by buying six olive trees to replace those that have been destroyed by setters and the Israeli army. A huge thanks to Alyssa, Terry, Dale, Diane, Donald and Mahmut for their behind the scenes support and to Sean Watson at Safeway for his generous donation of food for the meal. Monthly Prayer Shawl Ministry Anyone interested in knitting or crocheting prayer shawls for our congregation and the community is invited to join us at 1:00 pm in Room 14 on Thursday June 15. Help is available for those who are just beginning knitters or crocheters. On Sunday, June 18, we re having a Hawaiian Sunday! This is a chance to get that dusty aloha shirt or mu umu u out of the closet and put it on, and come prepared to enjoy a worship service that will feature some Hawaiian hymns (you d be amazed at how easily you can sing in Hawaiian) as well as scripture in Hawaiian and Pidgin (the local dialect) and some stories and insights about the history of Christianity in Hawaii. Come and bring a friend! The First United Men's Group Father s Day BBQ is following the Hawaiian church service outside on the patio. By donation - all proceeds to our El Salvador project. Grads Are you, or someone in your family graduating from high school or postsecondary this year? We want to hear from you! Please provide a short biography about your (or their) studies, so that we can celebrate everyone s achievements on Grad Sunday (June 25).
