2 Welcome to Holy Trinity! lease take a moment to sign the welcome folder located at the end of the pew. Everyone is invited to receive communion. Non-communing children and adults are invited to come forward for a blessing. If you would like to receive communion in your pew, please let an usher know. If you would like a prayer included in the prayers, please fill out a prayer card located in the pew racks and put it in the offering plate. Restrooms are located on the main level off the ommunity enter. Hearing assistance devices and cushions are available from the ushers. An elevator with access to all floors is located at the Division Street entrance. Exit the sanctuary through the double doors on the east side to use the elevator. Holy Trinity is family friendly! Busy bags are available in the back of the sanctuary (behind the glass partition) if your child needs an activity during worship. If your child needs some wiggle room or a place to explore, please use the back of the sanctuary. There is a rocking chair for your use and you will still be able to hear the worship service. Blessed be the holy Trinity, one God, full of compassion and mercy, abounding in steadfast love. Trusting God s promise of forgiveness, let us confess our sin against God and one another.

GOSEL Mark 7:1-8, 14-15, The holy gospel according to John raise to you, O hrist 1 Now when the harisees and some of the scribes who had come from Jerusalem gathered around [Jesus], 2 they noticed that some of his disciples were eating with defiled hands, that is, without washing them. 3 (For the harisees, and all the Jews, do not eat unless they thoroughly wash their hands, thus observing the tradition of the elders; 4 and they do not eat anything from the market unless they wash it; and there are also many other traditions that they observe, the washing of cups, pots, and bronze kettles.) 5 So the harisees and the scribes asked him, Why do your disciples not live according to the tradition of the elders, but eat with defiled hands? 6 He said to them, Isaiah prophesied rightly about you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honors me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me; 7 in vain do they worship me, teaching human precepts as doctrines. 8 You abandon the commandment of God and hold to human tradition. 14 Then he called the crowd again and said to them, Listen to me, all of you, and understand: 15 there is nothing outside a person that by going in can defile, but the things that come out are what defile. 21 For it is from within, from the human heart, that evil intentions come: fornication, theft, murder, 22 adultery, avarice, wickedness, deceit,

8 BATISM OF MAKAYLA RAE BARNES Makayla Rae was born December to Bethany and Steven Barnes. Godparents are Justin uckett and Johanna uckett. God, who is rich in mercy and love, gives us a new birth into a living hope through the sacrament of baptism. By water and the Word God delivers us from sin and death and raises us to new life in Jesus hrist. We are united with all the baptized in the one body of hrist, anointed with the gift of the Holy Spirit, and joined in God's mission for the life of the world. Do you renounce the devil and all the forces that defy God, the powers of this world that rebel against God, and the ways of sin that draw you from God? I renounce them. Do you believe in God the Father? I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. Do you believe in Jesus hrist, the Son of God? I believe in Jesus hrist, God s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under ontius ilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. Do you believe in God the Holy Spirit? I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Bless our vocations as we fill the cups of the thirsty, the plates of the hungry, and the hearts of the lonely. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer. Welcoming God, at tables around the world, through story and meal, strangers become guests and guests become friends. Embolden this congregation to always extend the wide-armed welcome you extend to us. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer. With thanksgiving, we remember the cloud of witnesses whose lives inspire us to loving service. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
