3 Children s Ministry Ethel Pawley Page 3 As parents spend much of August getting their children ready for school, the Children s Ministry getting ready for the fall kick off with new curriculum and children promoting to new classes. The new classes will start on Sunday, September 6 th. The classes will be: Preschool VPK Room 115 Kindergarten - 2 nd grade Room rd 5 th grades Room th 8 th grades Room 109 In addition to our new curriculum which will help children relate their faith to daily living, we will begin to integrate mission projects, encourage children to give their own offerings, create opportunities to help children learn about the Bible, memorize Bible verses and learn other aspects of our traditions of faith. Introducing our new fall curriculum DEEP BLUE Deep Blue is the new awe-inspiring resource for children which includes adventure, exciting stories, science experiments, arts and crafts, animated video storytelling, and active games -all combined into a living faith experience that will help children discover what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ today! We are excited to be using a curriculum that is relevant with today s culture; helping children to relate their faith to daily living. Volunteers are needed... To help in the Children s Ministry in a variety of positions. From sorting and organizing curriculum, helping in nursery or teaching a class once a month, there is an opportunity for you to make eternal footprints in the life of a child. More info: ethel@parrishumc.com Happy Anniversary to Linda Britt! Linda celebrates her third anniversary as our nursery worker. Mary Comstock. Kathie Meiklejohn, Sharyl Phillips, Stacey Karns, John & Mae Rombough, Georgia Miller, and Kaylena Biamonte are our staff of volunteers who faithfully serve in our Little Lambs Nursery. They are a blessing to our church family. Thank you so very much!

4 Page 4 Meet our Stephen Minister Jim Mulanix with wife, Darlene Stephen Ministry One of the main reasons that I become a Stephen Minister is I felt a need to serve our Lord. That was not happening at the time. It almost felt as though something in my life was missing. I would come to church, help as an usher, socialize, go to dinners. You know, all the usual things. Yet, in the back of my mind there was this tiny little piece that was missing or out of line. I had heard about the Stephen Ministers, but had not a clue as to what they did, so one Sunday I stopped a person wearing a blue badge and asked what it was that he did as a Stephen Minister. He told me about listening to people who were troubled. That as a Stephen Minister we work with folks who have lost a friend or family member. We make visitations to hospitals, rehabs and hospice. Every person we see or speak with, we do so in the Healing and Loving Spirit of Jesus Christ. The Stephen Minister is but a messenger with a cool drink of water and the Light of Christ. There is more, but I'll let that go until next month. Oh, that little piece that was out of kilter - it feels much better now, but still a wee, small space exists, I guess God isn't done with me yet. Stephen Ministers are only the CAREgivers Christ is the CUREgiver.

7 Route 66 Page 7 bringing Jesus Christ into the lives of teenagers through Bible study, prayer and fellowship. Youth Leaders Joe & Julie McNaughton Thank you to our wonderful congrega on for their love and support for 28 of our youth and children (plus three adult volunteers) who a ended a week away at the Warren Willis Camp near Leesburg, Florida. The theme of the week was Echo: Living a Life Worth Living and the small group discussions, devo ons and worship services built upon how we can echo the life of Christ throughout our lives and the way we live and love. It is difficult to capture in a few photographs the variety of ac vi es that the students par cipated in, but here are a few pictures from the week. We will begin planning next summer s week at camp by Christmas, so keep a lookout if you know someone who may want to go next year! The youth will be a ending this year s Night of Joy on Friday, September 11th. Ar sts performing that evening include MercyMe, Francesca Ba stelli and Toby- Mac. We will order our ckets as a group, so we need cket orders and money by August 12. The $65 price includes admission to the park, parking, and a light dinner at the church at 4:00 before leaving for the Magic Kingdom. Upcoming Events: Aug. 12 Money due for NOJ Aug. 26 The Way I m Wired Sept. 11 Night of Joy Sept. 18 Family Night 6th 12th graders are always welcome to join us in the Youth Hall at 6:30 pm on Wednesdays.
