The people and pastors of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church are committed to meeting you wherever you are on your journey in faith. If you are visiting and would like to know more about our church and our faith, please fill out the Connection Card in the back of the chair in front of you and place it in the offering plate. COMMUNION PROCEDURES Everyone who believes that Jesus Christ is truly present in the sacrament and sincerely wishes to commune with Him is welcome to participate. Children may come forward for a blessing. When you receive the wafer, you may dip it into the wine (red) or grape juice (white). Gluten Free wafer available upon request. If you would like to participate in the sacraments but are unable to come forward, please inform an usher and communion will be brought to you. Fall Fest Prizes Are Needed! Requesting your Help for Fall Fest Prizes! Items needed are: EVERYONE IS INVITED FOR REFRESHMENTS out on the patio. Please take a moment to share greetings and joy with one another. Make some new friends by introducing yourself to others. New or next to new stuffed animals Gift cards to stores, salons, restaurants ($5, $10, $15, $20 amounts) Or any small toys or items that would make a nice prize BIBLE ACTIVITY BAGS AVAILABLE FOR YOUNG CHILDREN during the worship service. Please ask the ushers for a bag. At the end of the service, return it to the usher so a child at another service can use the Bible Bag. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Fall Fest Volunteers Are Needed! In order to make Fall Fest a success, we need volunteers for many tasks including game attendants, food servers, face painters, set up, clean up and much more! If you would like to volunteer, sign up online at: OUR FAMILY ROOM is available for families with young children. It is equipped with sound and video from the sanctuary. SUBMIT YOUR PRAYER requests for this week by using a Connection Card found in the chair back. Pastor will include your request in today s service. All prayer requests will be prayed for by our Prayer Ministry during the week and included in next week s worship bulletin. ASSISTED HEARING DEVICES are available at the sound booth for use at the beginning of each service. These devices will help amplify the sounds of the service to a comfortable level for the hearing impaired. It will allow you to move out of the sanctuary and not miss one word. NOTES ON THE SERMON: If you would like to take notes during today s sermon, there is green paper in the back of the chair in front of you. 2 His Kids is in for an exciting treat today! The kids will start studying the 40 days of prayer kids curriculum. They will learn a lesson from this series every opening exercise day. His Kids will be learning the same message you as adults are learning in the small groups and sermons from our Pastors. This week they will learn that prayer is simply talking to God and we can pray to God anytime and anywhere! Don t worry about anything; instead pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done. - Philippians 4:6 Fort Lauderdale Christmas Pageant Travel on the church bus with the group from HSLC to the Christmas Pageant! You will need to purchase your own tickets and choose your seats at Flower Arrangers & Deliverers Needed! Each week the Altar Flowers are arranged into smaller arrangements and delivered to those who are unwell or unable to attend church. If you would like to help arrange the flowers or make deliveries on Monday afternoons, please contact Mary Ann Williams in the church office at or mwilliams@hslcjuno.org. No experience is necessary! Grief Group A Season of Grieving Grief support group will meet in the church Family Room at 2:00-3:15 pm on Tuesdays. Facilitators are Patty Cherry and Pastor Sid Nelson. Soulfire Youth Ministry Join us in the Learning Center for our indoor games day. It s a super board game challenge! Who will be crowned the champion? 11:00-1:00. Next week: CLUB 345 from 11:00-12:30. I need a few youth helpers! There is no Soulfire meeting. The pumpkins are coming!! Help us unload the truck on Saturday, Oct.13 at 9am! If you have wagons/wheel barrows, bring them along. Caring Card Ministry Making cards to send to those who are shut in, grieving, suffering, celebrating something special or just a note to say Hello is what we are all about. If you are interested, join us and have a creative hour of fun on the 2nd Sunday each month at 12:15 PM in the Learning Center room 208. You may volunteer online through our website or at: Lake Park Community Food Pantry Tragedy On Wednesday, August 29th, the Lake Park Community Food Pantry tragically burned, destroying tens of thousands of food and clothing items. Over 400 families in our community depend on the assistance of this food pantry. Holy Spirit Lutheran Church and Club 100 Charities are currently spearheading an initiative to raise the funds to rebuild the food pantry and clothing closet. Small size toiletries, band aids, sunscreen, bug spray and vitamins are needed. Please place in the patio storage room. We need laptops or ipads for families in transition from homelessness. If you have one to donate, please contact Harry Drier at There are many volunteer opportunities within the Care Ministry. Diaper Drive for Homeless Mothers Children s Home Society cares for young homeless mothers and their infants. CHS provides a 2 year program that teaches these young moms how to care responsibly for their baby, educates them and finds them work. HSLC can be supportive by providing diapers. Please bring them to church. Evelyn Lyerly is the leader of the diaper drive. Help Feed The Homeless And The Hungry You can help the Healthy Food, Healthy Living Food Pantry by donating your aluminum cans. Please rinse the cans, place in a bag at home and bring them to church on Sundays to place them in the barrel marked on the patio. During the week, place them in the barrel in the patio storage room. No steel cans please.
