PROCLAMATION PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH Morning Worship, pg.3 11 a.m. Church News, pg. May 4, 2014 To Glorify God & EnJoy Him Forever.

Welcome The Lord s Day Sunday, May 4, 2014 Welcome to Proclamation Presbyterian Church! This morning we offer a special welcome to all those visiting Proclamation as a part of the Philadelphia Conference on Reformed Theology. Having the PCRT here at Proclamation has been a special privilege for us. As followers of the Lord Jesus we are glad to be able to serve our Savior by serving you and the church at large. I don t want to neglect others of you visiting with us this morning. My hope is that you will find worship at Proclamation satisfying and will return again. To all of you who show up Sunday after Sunday at Proclamation Welcome! I know you come to worship God with his people. Nevertheless, I hope your attendance at worship is as encouraging to you as it is to me. As the PCRT winds up Dr. Richard Phillips will be preaching this morning. The Rev. Mr. Phillips is the senior pastor of Second Presbyterian Church in Greenville, SC. He also serves as chairman of the PCRT. Let me also remind you not to come to worship at PPC this evening. No I have not lost my mind; we have canceled our evening worship service. Instead I hope you will join the unity worship service sponsored by the regional body to which Proclamation belongs, namely, the Philadelphia Metro West Presbytery of the PCA. This special worship service will take place at Springton Lake PCA, 3090 South Newtown Street Road, Newtown Square, at 5:00 p.m. This is a good time to meet others who share our commitment to the principles of Biblical Presbyterianism and with whom we work together in planting churches in Delaware and Chester counties. If any of you would like to learn more about Proclamation or have someone pray with you, Elder George McKenzie will be available following the morning service. 2 ***Please take a moment to silence all electronic devices. Also, there are large print Bibles and hearing assist devices available in the narthex. We ask visitors and members alike to sign the Friendship Pad as it is passed down the row. As the pad is passed back along the row, I encourage you look at the names. Then you can greet one another by name.

THE RESURRECTION OF CHRIST 35But someone may ask, "How are the dead raised? With what kind of body will they come?" 36 How foolish! What you sow does not come to life unless it dies. 37 When you sow, you do not plant the body that will be, but just a seed, perhaps of wheat or of something else. 38 But God gives it a body as he has determined, and to each kind of seed he gives its own body. 39 ll flesh is not the same :Men have one kind of flesh, animals have another, birds another and fish another. 40 There are also heavenly bodies and there are earthly bodies; but the splendor of the heavenly bodies is one kind, and the splendor of the earthly bodies is another. 41 The sun has one kind of splendor, the moon another and the stars another; and star differs from star in splendor. 42 So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; 43 it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; 44 it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. 45 So it is written: "The first man Adam became a living being"; the last Adam, a life- giving spirit. 46 The spiritual did not come first, but the natural, and after that the spiritual. 47 The first man was of the dust of the earth, the second man from heaven. 48 As was the earthly man, so are those who are of the earth; and as is the man from heaven, so also are those who are of heaven. 49 And just as we have borne the likeness of the earthly man, so shall we bear the likeness of the man from heaven. 50 I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. 1 Corinthians 15:35-50 MORNING WORSHIP Preparation for Worship: Meditation and Prayer Vasa Dei Symphony #5 (Reformation), mov. 3 & 4 Mendelssohn, arr. J.R. Moser Welcome and Announcements Missions Moment Jeremy Johnson/Youth Missions Trip Record of your Presence Please sign the blue attendance pad found in the pew back in front of you, pass it down the pew for everyone to sign and then return it to the end of the pew from which it was passed. PRAYER OF INVOCATION* CALL TO WORSHIP* 1 Corinthians 15:51-52, Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed 52 in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 54 When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory." 55"Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?" * Those who are able please stand. 3

DECLARATION OF FAITH* The Apostles Creed All: I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our LORD, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen READING THROUGH THE BIBLE Psalms 127 and 128, p.441 in the pew Bible; Elder George MacKenzie Leader: 1 Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain. All: 2 In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat for he grants sleep to those he loves. Leader: 3 Sons are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from him. All: 4 Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one's youth. Leader: 5 Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their enemies in the gate. All: 1 Blessed are all who fear the LORD, who walk in his ways. Leader: 2 You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours. All: 3 Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your sons will be like olive shoots around your table. Leader: 4 Thus is the man blessed who fears the LORD. All: 5 May the LORD bless you from Zion all the days of your life; may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem, Leader: 6 and may you live to see your children's children. Peace be upon Israel. 7 WORSHIP IN GIVING Chancel Choir Declare His Glory J.W. Peterson Declare His glory among the heathen, His wonders among all people, for the LORD is great, and greatly to be praised: He is to be feared above all gods, for the gods of the nations are idols, but the LORD made the heavens. Honor and majesty are before Him. Strength and beauty are in His sanctuary: Give unto the LORD, O Ye kindred of the people, give unto the LORD the glory due unto His name. Bring an offering and come into His courts: O worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness, Fear before Him all the earth. PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING FOR THE OFFERING Children, ages seven (7) years and younger, may be dismissed to Rooms 147 & 149 for Children s Church. SERMON SCRIPTURE Revelation 7:9-17, p.871 in the pew Bible 9 After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. 10 And they cried out in a loud voice: "Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb." 11 All the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures. they fell down on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, 12 saying: "Amen! Praise and glory and wisdom and thanks and honor and power and strength be to our God for ever and ever. Amen!" 13 Then one of the elders asked me, "These in white robes who are they, and where did they come from?" 14 I answered, "Sir, you know." And he said, "These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. 15 Therefore, "they are before the throne of God and serve him day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the throne will spread his tent over them. 16 Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat upon them, nor any scorching heat. 17 For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes." 7

THE LORD S PRAYER* All: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our debts as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. INVITATION TO THE LORD S SUPPER We welcome you to our Communion service this morning and invite to the table all those who believe in Jesus Christ and are members in good standing in a Bible-believing church. It is our custom to hold the elements and commune together. *If you have not yet embraced Jesus Christ by faith, we invite you to reflect on one of the following prayers. Prayer for those searching for Truth: Lord Jesus, you claim you are the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Please guide me by your Holy Spirit and open my heart and mind to receive the life you promise. Give me grace to repent of my sin and trust in your perfect sacrifice on my behalf. Teach me what it means to faithfully follow you as Lord. Amen. Prayer of Faith: Lord Jesus Christ, I confess that I am sinful. I have sinned by thought, word, and deed. But through your sacrifice I am loved and accepted by my heavenly Father. Thank you for paying my debt on the cross and for taking the punishment I deserve. I turn from my sins and trust in you as my living Savior and Lord. Amen. 9
