2 Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, A WORD FROM FR. IVAN This Sunday we celebrate the Epiphany or the Feast of the Three Kings. It is also called the Christmas of the pagan/foreigners, since these three kings represent the pagan and non Jews. The three Kings had made a long and risky journey to arrive to Bethlehem to find the King of Kings. On this same Sunday the Catholic Church in Minnesota designated this Sunday to be Immigration Sunday. Our Church has been founded by immigrants in the late 1800s. More than a century after we are still an immigrant parish. This is thanks to the openness to welcome our brothers and sisters from the Karenni and the Karen community. To welcome and be open to the needy and vulnerable of our society always brings a blessing. I am sure that the Lord will continue to bless our parish as we strive to be witnesses of unity. The church always has defended the immigrant and the refugee. Here are some of the teachings that our bishops have handed over to us. From the Catechism of the Catholic Church. 1911: Internal quote is from Gaudium et Spes: The unity of the human family, embracing people who enjoy equal natural dignity, implies a universal common good. Public authorities should see to it that the natural right is respected that places a guest under the protection of those who receive him. 2433: Access to employment and to professions must be hope to all without unjust discrimination; men and women, healthy and disabled, natives and immigrants. 4 Parish News & Events Youth Scrutatio with Bishop Cozzens We invite all the youth today Sunday, January 7 from 4pm onwards an evening with the word of God, adoration of the blessed sacrament and dinner. Together with bishop Cozzens. Organized by the NeoCatechumenal Communities of our Parish. We meet in the Grade School Building. Free Store Information "Free Store" will be held next Sunday, January 13 from 11:30 to 12:00 in the gym. Please communicate the word to those who might need these services. Items to be given out include: clothing for the family, personal care items, toys, household items and food. The lot will be cabled off until it is plowed. Cars may be towed at the owner s expense if left in the lot when it needs to be plowed. Thanks for your cooperation. Capital Campaign Update There is a lot of news to share about the Moving Forward in Faith Capital Campaign.
