4 SACRED HEART OF JESUS PARISH WEBSTER, MASSACHUSETTS PARISH EVENTS/NEWS FROM THE RESPECT LIFE MINISTRY ST VINCENT DE PAUL MINUTE In today s Gospel, Jesus tells us that Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him. As we know, our loving God cannot be seen by our eyes, but only experienced through loving people. With love for your neighbors who have nothing, look around your house to see what furniture, household items, and clothing you no longer use and give it to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Psalms: The School of Prayer At the heart of the Bible are the Psalms, prayers from God that help us learn to pray. The Holy Spirit inspired them. Israel sang them. Christ himself prayed them, as did our Blessed Mother. These sacred hymns become our heartfelt response to God s loving and wondrous deeds for us. Their words captivate the imagination and draw us into a deeply personal encounter with God. "Human life is sacred because from its beginning it involves the creative action of God and it remains for ever in a special relationship with the Creator, who is its sole end. God alone is the Lord of life from its beginning until its end: no one can under any circumstance claim for himself the right directly to destroy an innocent human being." EARLY REGISTRATION FOR RELIGIOUS EDUCATION Registration for Religious Ed classes for the upcoming year are now open. If for some reason you did not receive an with the registration sheets attached or you don t have access to a printer to print out and return the forms, there are blank copies available at both entrances to the church. Please take advantage of this early registration so we have an idea of how many books/ supplies to order and start this year off on the right foot. Classes start Sept. 9 th MASS BOOK The 2019 Mass book will be ready to book Mass intentions on the first business day of September. We will be keeping to the first business day of September as a standard yearly date. Please know that there are still dates available for this year to book, so please call the office if you'd like to book Masses for the remaining of PARISH TREES! Due to the tornado, the trees that lined the Granite Street side of the rectory and parking lot were damaged. From that damage, along with their overall age, it became apparent that there were safety issues which required them to be taken down.

There are many large prizes on the ticket front, and many more will be added to the list by the September 4 th meeting and drawing, such as Theme Baskets and multiple Gift Cards. One of these theme baskets will contain $100 worth of scratch tickets. Please support this event, as the monies received from our work will be then distributed to local charities. We are especially proud to provide the Penn Dutch Trip, as the show is brand new at the Milleniun Theater in Lancaster, PA JESUS. The results thus far have been that this is the most moving, spiritual show of all time. Right now, you still have time to hop on and join the spiritual ride with us, which we are sure you will never forget. You may have seen the yellow flyers around the Church; feel free to read what is included in this trip. Hopefully, you will be blessed and your soul renewed. If you or someone you know would like to learn more about our new peer recovery center, please join us. Our peer recovery coaches, mentors, and others in the recovery community will be present to answer questions. We will have free snacks and beverages available. Everyone is welcome! Questions? Call Pastor Janice at OPENING THE WORD PEER RECOVERY CENTER 10 MECHANIC STREET WEBSTER, MA OTWPRC is a facility operated by the Church of the Reconciliation as an outreach ministry focused on supporting the recovery of individuals who suffer from substance abuse disorder. The facility is open to the public and there is no fee required to obtain services. Though we are a Christian-based ministry, we accept and encourage people of all faiths to use our center. OTWRC is staffed by volunteers, and the range of services includes, peer recovery coaching, spiritual direction, allrecovery meetings, recovery Bible study, mentoring, and women s support groups. Counseling, medical care, psychiatric services, medication assisted treatment, needle exchange and drug screening are NOT provided. WORLDWIDE MARRIAGE ENCOUNTER Taste and see the goodness of the Lord. Put Christ s love into your relationship by attending a Worldwide Marriage Encounter Weekend. What you may not know is that The Blessed Backpack Brigade lost all of the items it was storing in those damaged buildings. Below is a list of item that were destroyed and need replacing. Donations can also be sent to the address included. The Blessed Backpack Brigade helps the homeless in the Webster Dudley Area. This is our chance to help them help others. Items can be dropped off at Dudley Police Station, the foyer of Webster Town Hall, Luminosity Hair Salon. Hours of operation are as follows: For peer recovery coaching Wednesday 8:30 a.m.- 11:00 a.m. for walk-ins; Fridays 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. by appointment and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to noon by appointment. (Individuals are encouraged make appointments with the coaches to avoid having to wait, but walkins are also welcome.) ANDREW BOBOLA POLISH FESTIVAL St. Andrew Bobola Church will hold it's fourth annual Parish Polish Festival - on Friday and Saturday, August 24 and 25, 2018 on the church grounds at 54 West Main St, Dudley, MA. It will be two days of family fun and entertainment, Polish and American Food, Grand Prize money raffle, Gift basket raffles, hourly 50/50 money raffles, Flea Market, Games of Chance, Pastry Booth, Quilt raffle, Major Prizes raffle( i.e. lottery trees, etc.), and kids games and prizes/raffles booth! Festivities start Friday at 4:30 pm. with music for dancing provided by Maestro s Men, starting at 6. Saturday's events begin at 11 am with a Chicken Bar-B-Que ( advance sale tickets only, available from the rectory) at 12:30pm. An Outdoor Mass will be held at 4pm, followed by entertainment and dancing to The Eddie Foreman Orchestra beginning at 5pm. Polish food includes Cheese Pierogi, Cabbage Pierogi, Kielbasa, Kapusta, Golabki, and a Polish Platter ( ALL made by the local parishioners)! American Food includes Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, Cheeseburgers and French Fries, cooked to order. Pierogis, frozen by the half or dozen, will also be available for take out. So mark your calendars and come join in the fun, great food, dancing and entertainment at the St. Andrew Bobola Polish Festival! Hope to see you there! FLEA MARKET & VENDOR FAIR IN OXFORD St. Roch Parish will host a Flea Market and Vendor Fair on Saturday, Aug. 25 and Sunday, Aug. 26 from 7 am - 4 pm in the St. Roch Church Lot next to Oxford Common, 342 Main Street, Rt. 12, Oxford. Lots of Shopping! Vendors still welcome! $25 for 10 x 20 space both days! Call CHICKEN BARBEQUE AND FAMILY FAIR IN NORTH BROOKFIELD The 38 th Annual Chicken Barbecue and Family Fair will be held on Saturday, Sept. 8, 4 8 pm and Sunday, Sept am 4 pm at St. Joseph Parish Rectory Grounds: 28 Mt. Pleasant Street, North Brookfield. Come join us for a delicious chicken dinner (served Sunday from 1-2pm; $12/adults $6/children 12 & under) and other food available all weekend (hamburgers, hot dogs, steak grinders, chili, fried dough, French fries, pizza, ice cream sundaes and more!). Entertainment includes The Otters on Saturday night, and DJ Richard Tabby LeBlanc on Sunday, our ever popular flea market, games, baked goods, crafts, basket raffles, exciting raffle prizes (including a 2 night off season stay for up to 6 guests at Misty Harbor in Maine), a Large gift card tree and much, much more. Reserve space at St. Joseph-St. Pius X Parish Fair on Sept. 22 beginning at 10 am (with a 4:00 pm outdoor Mass followed by a chicken BBQ). The Fair will take place on the grounds of St. Joseph Church, 759 Main Street, Leicester. FAMILY FUN FEST/FALL FESTIVAL Family Fun Fest/Fall Festival at St. Patrick's Church, Whitinsville on Sunday, Sept. 23 from 11 am 4 pm. The festival will include vendor tables, bake sale, toy table, raffles, cup cake decorating, food, games, music and much more! Vendor spaces are available to rent for $30.
