FROM THE PASTOR S DESK By Pastor Dele Oke Prayer of agreement 19 Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.

Matthew 18:19-20 (ESV) The prayer of agreement is when two or more people come together and agree with one another and with the Word of God that something specific will be done.

3 FROM THE PASTOR S DESK By Pastor Dele Oke Prayer of agreement 19 Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them. Matthew 18:19-20 (ESV) The prayer of agreement is when two or more people come together and agree with one another and with the Word of God that something specific will be done. The Bible records numerous examples of people coming together in agreement and accomplishing things (Exodus 17:8-13; Psalm 133:1-3; Acts 4:23; Hebrews 10:24-25.). Being in agreement is much more than simply being together physically in the same room (although it does help tremendously and is highly recommended), but where this is not practicable for unavoidable reasons you can still stand in agreement and see your prayers answered (Matthew 8:5-13). God has given power and authority to the Church, and when we stand together in unity we can see more of God's power released (Matthew 28:16-20). Unity is standing together with one purpose, sharing a joint vision and trusting God's Word to be fulfilled. We need to appreciate the power of unity if we are to see God's power released. Every Sunday morning, every last Friday of the month and our often advertised Friday Focus prayer times are opportunities for us to meet together and pray. Besides that, we all have the privilege of getting together with our family or other fellow believers to pray together and see God work among us make sure you take advantage of this privilege God has given us. I would like to say thank you to Suzanne, for her steadfast dedication, as Church secretary over the years. Suzanne will do a handover session with me which I trust will be very soon. As I find my feet I am trusting that the Lord will give me insight and grace to be able to fulfil all that is expected and more. Thomas Family Condolences to Yvonne and her family on the passing of her husband Sonny Thomas in January. Watoto Concert If you were there, fantastic, but if you were unable to make it, here is little taste of what we were blessed in seeing what lovely children. These photos were taken by Pastor Dele from the front row. A big thanks to all of you who were able to attend at CBC on Wednesday 22 February to watch the Watoto Uganda children choir concert. It was a superb time of worship and encouragement. When Page 6 of 15

It really was an occasion to thank God for. Thank you once again to everyone who was able to come on the day and supported them in one way or another, and to those who donated prior to the concert. Five hundred and seventy pounds ( ) was raised on the night for the support of the Watoto children. Other donations will be given. The grand total was not available by the time this edition of CN went to print. May we all be blessed and continue to pray not just for these children but for all the Children in the world. 8 REPORTS Reports from across the Church THANKSGIVING & PRAYER REQUESTS By Nab Mills-Robertson/Visiting Team (12/01/2017) Ethlyn Salmon Ethlyn is improving each day with her health after going through a very difficult time in her life. She trusts and has faith that God s way is perfect. It s our prayer that she may be encouraged by the Lord and finds a new perspective on what is happening. Doreen Waterman She gives thanks to the Lord for how she feels in recent weeks. God is working day to day to restore her strength, renew her spirit and return her to complete health. She wants us to pray for her sister. Virginia Reynolds Each day brings her hope although she experiences pain some days. We pray that God will stand by her side and see her through each day and may she feel His presence as He brings her back to good health. Pray for her family Myrtle & Frank Smith God did an amazing thing for Mrs Myrtle last month. The kidney stone was not found when the time came for her operation. With grateful hearts they give thanks to God for His bountiful blessing. Please pray that Uncle Frank will have confidence as he waits for God s healing on the itching skin and faith to know that He will do whatever is best for him. Icilda May The team visited her at home. We were well received by her son. Icilda looked particularly well and hearty as usual. She is still having problems with her ears. We pray the Lord continue to strengthen and increase her faith. Mr Moses Williams We couldn t visit him last month as we planned to. He was taken to A&E but praise God he has been recovering since then. Page 8 of 15

9 Vera Lewis and Lebert Lawrence Vera s physio went well and Lebert has been going to the day care centre. They are hoping to get a new place that will meet their needs. Please pray for the Lord s intervention. May Gardner She needs our prayer support while she considers what step to take regarding her knees, as she finds it difficult to move about. Prayer By Vivienne Oke Those of you that attended the Bible Studies in Church, may recall that one of the questions asked was What is worship? I heard one of the participants succinctly say: Worship is saying - God s will be done and Gods Kingdom come, the person went on to explain that when you make God s will and Kingdom your heart felt passion. WORSHIP will become your talk, your song, your walk and prayer. I like this definition of worship as God will certainly be glorified - in all we do. If God s will and Kingdom is our focus. John 4:24 (NIV) God is Spirit and His worshippers must worship in spirit and truth Pray for our Children who are currently away at University, College or working hard in the workplace, (Leon, Shade, Abigail, Kenneth, Zac, Andrew, Rachel, Victory. Halima, Osazi, Nenyi, Melanie, John and Aaron,) Pray that they will grow in Christ and that they will not be lead into temptation. Pray for Tonji and David, Freddie and others seeking a total recovery. Please pray for the Pastor and the current deacons; Sylvester, Jane, Algi, Nab and Steve. Please pray that God will grant favour in the workplace, particularly those seeking to be released on Sundays. Please pray for Marjorie, Suzanne, Augusta, Magdalene, Folu. Page 9 of 15

Your Prayer is vital and will bring the supply of God's Spirit in the various situations we encounter. Thank You - Night Shelter By CBC Night Shelter coordinators A BIG THANK YOU goes to everyone for supporting this years Night Shelter at our Church and for your generous contributions, and most of all the time you gave, to give the guests a welcoming safe time at the Central. The Guests were very appreciative of the meals we had at Central and expressed their thanks. 14 NEWS FROM CORNWALL By Ron Meloy (6th February 2017) Our Church recently received a generous legacy from the estate of a lady who was a loyal and faithful member for many years. Throughout her long illness she was an inspiration to everyone. We now seek the Lord s guidance as to how to use the gift in His work and witness. A Church Lunch was held after the morning service last December which was a great success. Like Oliver Twist we have had a request for more so we shall meet again next Sunday. It is encouraging to have a congregation so willing to get fed up. In my youth I often helped to cut the hedge in the Central s garden and to pull it up. A Cornish hedge is built of stone and earth. Over the years the stone is hidden by grass, wild flowers, shrubs and even trees which provide homes for mice, birds and all kinds of insects. It has been estimated that around 30,000 miles of hedges criss-cross Cornwall. There is mention in Isaiah 5/5 of a hedge. Last month it was reported that a precious metal lithium could be extracted from deep underground in Cornwall. Work will soon begin prospecting for this valuable metal which could be worth 56 billion in the next three years. I was once told that the Bible was like a mine with inexhaustible treasures waiting to be discovered. If you would like to undertake some mining try Proverbs Developers would like to build 85 houses in Mount Hawke in a field not far from where we live. Many objections have been raised to this and the Council is considering these before making any decisions. The local radio has warned people to be aware of the power of the sea if they intend to take photos of the waves. The RNLI the Charity that provides various types of rescue crafts from the donations they receive report that from 1st July 30th September 2016, 3697 launches were made. A PRAYER: Lord, grant us both the opportunity and the will to serve you day by day.
