What if your pastor ate bugs? That would be strange. What if he still wore 70's fashion polyester coats? That might even be more strange. John the Baptist didn't wear polyester, but he did eat locusts and his coat was made of camel's hair. But did that matter? The important thing about John was that He wasn't a man who changed God's message so it sounded good to the people. What kind of pastor do you want? Pastors come in all shapes and sizes. Some are short. Some are bald. Some are both. Some are neither. Some are outgoing, some are not. Some are share an interest or talent of yours, some don't. Some are gifted in one way, others not as much. John's clothes were made of camel's hair, and he had a leather belt round his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey. Matthew 3:4 What kind of pastor do you want? Thank God if you have a pastor like John the Baptist, a pastor who is committed to preaching nothing but the Word, whether in style or not. You may not always like to hear what such a pastor has to say. When his message hits your heart, convicting you of sin, it may make you feel uncomfortable. But if your pastor preaches the Bible, and nothing but the Bible, thank God! He's a man who will be tough on sin, but who will also lead you Sunday after Sunday to the foot of Jesus' cross. His preaching will be what God is looking for: preaching that prepares the sinner for paradise. Your pastor isn't perfect. He's a sinner just like you. The rough edges of his personality may need to be smoothed over. He would probably be the first to say that he needs to hone his preaching and teaching skills. But if he is a preacher fashioned by God in the mold of John the Baptist, a preacher of Law and Gospel, thank God for sending such a man. Also pray for him. All of our studies this year will be geared toward making our family altar one that is uniquely Lutheran. We will be using Luther's Large Catechism for much of our yearly discussion as well as various Bible stories that correspond with those that the Sunday School children will be learning. FAMILY BIBLE STUDY & SUNDAY SCHOOL SUNDAY MORNINGS 9:15AM YOUTH BIBLE STUDY SUNDAY MORNINGS 9:15AM FAMILIES UNDER GOD THURSDAY EVENINGS 6:30PM TUESDAY MORNING MEN S STUDY: We continue working through the Psalms found in Christian Worship and used in our services. Each Tuesday takes us to a different psalm. Join us at 6AM. WEDNESDAY EVENING LADIES STUDY: The Ladies meet at 6:15PM to discuss the many lessons we learn from Genesis. FAMILIES UNDER GOD BIBLE STUDY: This Bible study focuses on relationships, marriage, parenting children and teens, and the family unit as we strive to daily live as Families Under GOD. We Thursdays 6:30-7:30PM in the Multi-purpose Room. Child care is provided. BIBLE INFORMATION CLASS: This class is a wonderful review for anyone wanting to brush up on the basic teachings of God s Word.
