Our next step is to work with the Diocesan Transition Team. We hope to meet again by the middle of September. We are all looking forward to seeing where this journey leads us. The United Thank Offering (UTO) is a program of The Episcopal Church for the mission of the whole Church, founded by and administered by women since All of the grants given each year are funded from donations put in the little blue boxes which you'll find in the pews this month. Blessings given from blessings you receive. All money is used for UTO grants to mission ministries throughout the world. See the 2018 Grant Awards on the bulletin board. The UTO In-Gathering is Sunday, October 7. Please turn your change into a check or dollars and cents. It is a big help to our counters. Thank you for helping to change our world. ~ Mike Ramsey, UTO Chair Random Acts of Kindness Send a note! Did you know there s a basket of note cards and envelopes in the back of the Nave? Take one and write a note to a church member perhaps to someone on the prayer list, a college student, or one of our homebound members. Just put their name on it and leave it in the secretary s mailbox. Carol will address it, add a stamp and mail it! Knowing they are thought about by their church family can raise their spirits and brighten their day.

4 Parish Life Page 4 SAFEGUARDING TRAINING ARE YOU UP TO DATE? Clergy, vestry members, employees, key holders and all who work in children s ministries are required to take Safeguarding Training every three years. If the last time you took a module was in 2014, then you must repeat that training by the end of The Abuse Refresher course replaces Sam and It Happened to Me. The diocese checks our records in January for compliance. So how do you know if your 3 years are up and it s time to renew? Log in to safeguardingonline.org and look at each module completion date. Don t remember your login or need a login? Send an to stthomasepis@aol.com or call the office: Keeping our children, members, and our church safe is everyone s duty. EQUIPMENT FAILURES LEAD TO REPLACEMENTS The freezer died and we had water all over the kitchen. Thanks to Jim Phillips for coordinating the removal of the old freezer and for buying the new smaller and energy-efficient freezer with his military discount! Many thanks to all who donated to cover the cost of the freezer! Our four-year old church computer crashed last month after two weeks of up and down time. A hardware scan showed bad sectors on the drive. All files were backed-up and Carol brought her personal laptop in to keep the job flow going. Vestry approved a new computer and it has been installed. Thanks to everyone who donated to the new computer! On behalf of the Interchurch Food Pantry we would like to thank you for your very generous donations of food*, monetary donations, and for your wonderful volunteers! Your support is awesome! Thank you! Carol Phipps, Pantry Manager *Bring food donations for the pantry on Sundays and put them in the back of the Nave. Want to volunteer at the Food Pantry? Just sign up on the Ministry Sign Up Board & show up at the pantry on the 4th Monday of the month. Come one month or as often as you like. We received a beautiful thank you card and a generous donation from Girl Scout Troop 580 for using our facility with this handwritten note: Troop 580 thanks you for opening your doors and allowing us to meet here! Eva Coleman (Troop leader), Robin, Joan, Amy, Robin, Megan, Riley, Lindsay, Kamryn, Kailynn, Chloe, Carson, Emily & Sara PASTORAL CARE NEEDS Be a blessing! Time to restock the new freezer If you can provide a meal for someone in need, please let Cynthia Dozier, our Pastoral Care Coordinator, know or call the office. You may bring the meal to the kitchen freezer. Please mark it with the name of the meal and the date prepared.
