2 PRELUDE / PERSONAL REFLECTION & PREPARATION CALL TO WORSHIP L: Jesus the Good Shepherd calls our names to come and follow Him. P: His voice, speaking our names, draws us to Him. L: We follow without fear, for the Shepherd cares for us. P: Our hearts rejoice and we can place our trust in the Good Shepherd. L: Come, let us enter the gate with thanksgiving! 6 SUNDAY : Ponder and Pray My heart says of you, Seek his face! Your face, Lord, I seek, Do not hide your face from me, Do not turn your servant away in anger; You have been my helper. Do not reject me or forsake me, O God my Savior (Psalm 27:8-9) Easter came and we celebrated the resurrection with great rejoicing. What happens next? Bishop Emeritus Dr. Hwa Yung, prayed for God to do a new thing in our church, CGMC, so that we can make a difference in the city of Ipoh and our beloved country, Malaysia. Bishop Emeritus guided us thus: Pray : To seek God in holiness (Psalm 27:8-9; Hebrews 12:14; 1 John 2:15-17) To seek God in repentance (Luke 3:7-17; 19:1-9) To seek God in prayer (Isaiah 62:6-7; Luke 18:1-7; 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18) To seek the glory of God (Exodus 33:1-6, 12-23) To do that, we need to start with ourselves. If my people who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14) Pray for more intercessors to be raised up to join all the prayer bands in the church and for all concerned to pray with new focus and fervency. May GOD S GLORY be revealed as He heals our hearts, our church, our government and our land. Pray for the spiritual darkness over our land to be lifted and removed and let God s light shine upon all of us. MONDAY : The Nation & Nations Malaysia At the prayer sessions of the Ipoh Prayer Altar, recently there was a call for all churches to pray for Ipoh City. Pray against corruption that is rampant in various agencies in the city where incentives has become a norm for obtaining approvals for most things. Pray against gangsterism, crime and distribution of drugs in the city. (More than 7,400 teenagers were caught using and pushing drugs last year, with 89 of them being just 13 years old.) Pray against idol worship which has caused a spirit of darkness over the city. In order to pray against the forces of darkness which envelopes the city, pray for our churches to be revived, transformed, set right and be united so that God s hand can move. Nations: Syria As Syrians resettle in Europe, pray that they will be ministered to by both the refugee and local Christians in the countries that they go to. May the Lord Jesus be pleased to bring many to Himself through this crisis.

7 TUESDAY : Workplace Malaysia Employees Federation reports of retrenchments in the oil and gas and aviation sectors. Some 26,000 people were retrenched last year. More job cuts are expected this year if the economy does not improve. Hiring has been frozen for civil service positions although there are over 14,000 vacancies. Pray for the recovery of our economy and for positions to be available as many young people graduate from the universities each year. a change in the mindsets of the youths. May they have wisdom to discern and not be too choosy about the positions available. parents to be supportive and understanding and not be too demanding. One of the headlines in the Star newspaper on 27 th March, 2016 reads, Too costly to retain, too old to hire! Middle-aged executives have been the hardest hit by the layoffs. People in their 40s and 50s are worried about their jobs and income stagnating, not to speak of the rising costs even as job opportunities waned. Pray for these groups of people with families to feed, that their jobs will be secured. Pray that our God, who is JEHOVAH JIREH, will continue to provide for them. WEDNESDAY : Children s Life The current heat wave we are experiencing has taken its toil on the health of many, especially the elderly and the children. Some schools have had to be closed because of the intense heat. Pray that parents and caregivers will have wisdom to look after the children. Pray that the lessons and studies of these children will not be adversely affected when classes have to be cancelled. Some are expecting the haze to return when the heat dissipates. Pray for God to have mercy on us and for the rain to come instead of the dreaded haze. THURSDAY : Mission At the combined Easter sunrise service on 27 th March, 2016, we sang the song, HERE I AM, LORD with great gusto. Here I am Lord, is it I Lord? I have heard you calling in the night. I will go Lord, if you lead me. I will hold your people in my heart. Did we mean what we sang or was it just another song to celebrate the occasion? The Nepalese ministry needs men as those who are ministered to at the present are all men. Pray for more men to offer their services for this ministry. FRIDAY : Family and church At a recent prayer meeting in Ipoh, Pastor Julius Subii prayed for the city and for the pastors in Ipoh. From this week onwards, let us not only pray for our families but especially also for the pastors of our church and their families. Pray for God s anointing to be strong on them and that the voice of God can be clearly heard and discerned by them as they lead all of us towards God s will for our church. SATURDAY : Corporate Worship Services Worship is ENCOUNTERING GOD. Therefore pray for the Saturday and Sunday corporate worship services in our Church to be a time where people encounter God and be enriched with Biblical knowledge. May we experience transformation, embrace one another lovingly, and intentionally evangelize others.

9 Bible reading guide: Psalm 23: 1-6 Day 1: Psalm 23: Read the whole psalm slowly 2 to 3 times or more. Memorise the whole psalm. - What are the pattern(s), phrase(s) or word(s) that draw your attention? Jot them down in the journal. - In what ways the pattern(s), phrase(s) or word(s) impressed you? How would you apply them in your life and your circumstances? - Write a prayer to the Lord as He has spoken to you in the Bible reading. Day 2: Psalm 23:1 - Read the whole psalm a few times slowly, you may want to focus on verse 1. - What does this verse speak to you about God? - How do you relate to Him? - Write down your thoughts and a prayer of response to God. Day 3: Psalm 23: 2-3a - Read the whole psalm once and then read verses 2-3a several times slowly. - In your reflection, what image or vision emerges for you? - How does this relate to you and your experience? - Jot down your responses to God and your prayer in the journal. Day 4: Psalm 23: 3b-4 - Read the whole psalm once and then read verses 3b-4 repeatedly. - What comes to your mind when you read these verses? - Which word(s) or phrase(s) appeal to you here? Why? - Write a prayer to respond to God for what you have learnt. Day 5 Psalm 23: Read the whole psalm for a few times slowly. Focus on verses As you reflect your faithfulness as a member of God s flock, what do you deserve? - Now do a mental inventory of your blessings, including relationships, money, possessions, your standard of living everything. - How does this inventory of blessings encourage or discourage you in your journey of faith in the Lord? - Write a prayer of confession as you acknowledge and respond to God s goodness and mercy (be specified).
