6 DAILY PRAYER GUIDE BASED ON THE SEVEN MOUNTAINS OF INFLUENCE (Dick Eastman, 2012) 1. GOVERNMENT (State, National and International) Pray for Tun Dr. Mahatir Mohamad for the Lord s strength, mental alertness and godly wisdom to serve as the Prime Minister of the new Malaysia. Thank God for the appointments and swearing in of the 13 cabinet ministers, including the first woman Deputy Prime Minister Dato Seri Dr Wan Azizah. Pray that they will be humble, having a listening ear to hear and learn from the ministry officials to know the scope and the depth of each of their duty and responsibility, that they are to serve the people and not lord over them. Pray for the Lord to give wisdom to the Prime Minister to select the rest of the cabinet, ensuring to put the right persons in the right ministry. Pray that the cabinet ministers together with the Prime Minister will work in unity as a team to carry out all the necessary reforms to make Malaysia once again peaceful, prosperous and well-respected nation to the world. 2. RELIGION (The Church and her ministries) A) Cell Group Ministry Conference 2018 Pray for the members of the Task Force and management and staff of the Kinta Riverfront Hotel to work closely together to see to the final preparation for the Conference. Pray for the speakers, Rev. Edmund Chan and Pastor Ann Chan for protection and good health for them and their loved ones, so that they can focus on preparing their messages. B) Pray for Methodist Prayer Convention (MPC) 2018, Sibu, Sarawak, 31 August 2 September Pray for the local Organizing Committee to prepare and see to all the details so that the entire Convention will run smoothly. Pray for the two speakers: Bishop Chen Chien Chung, Taiwan and Rev. Dr. Viv Thomas, UK.

7 Mission Prayer Items ( June 2018) We are reminded by Dr Tai once again that Jesus Christ is not only our savior but He is the Lord of our lives. Please continue to pray with us and for us as we uphold in obedience the call of Jesus to make disciples of all nations. 1) Nepali OutReach We thank God for the Nepali ministry in Tasek as it continues to reach out to the Nepalese workers there. Tasek Nepali Community Center will be having an outreach event called Nepali Sangati (Nepali Fellowship) this coming July 15 th and 16 th. Prayer Items : Pray for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Pray for the speakers and translators who will be sharing the words. Pray that all instruments used for this event i.e. audiovisual and PowerPoints to work smoothly. 2) Betong Language Center (BLC) We thank God that Victoria Darmini Mohan from MB SCAC who did her practical last year in BLC under Rebecca has agreed to come alongside Rebecca to help and serve in BLC starting Jan Victoria will be spending her next 6 months preparing herself for the mission field ie taking motorbike lessons, interactions with adults, meeting up with counsellors and having a regular exercise regime. Prayer Items : Pray for Victoria as she works hard to be a better and well equipped servant of God. Pray for God s protection to be upon her as she prepares herself mentally and spiritually. Pray also for Mission Committee s trip to BLC on July 7 th 8 th to encourage Rebecca and to support her work there. 3) Peter & Angie Seow (Papua) We thank God for Peter, Angie and their family who have been serving faithfully in Papua translating God s word into the native language. They are back in Malaysia and will be attending bible translation seminar from June 10 th - 20 th. They will also have speaking engagements in July in CGMC, Kepong Wesley and Sitiawan Wesley. Prayer Items: Pray for journey mercies as they travel for their numerous engagements. Pray for the leading of the Holy Spirit as they prepare for their speaking engagements in all 3 churches. Pray that they will have a time of rest where they are able to catch up with families and friends. 4) Orang Asli English Education We thank God for NECF who has not only provided us with the training but also the syllabus to enable us to teach the children more effectively. On top they also conducted a talk to the orang asli teachers and mothers on the importance of education, what can be done to encourage their children and also real examples of an orang asli community that had embraced this and had a significant improvement in their childrens education. Prayer Items: Pray that the community in Kg Rasau will make use of all that has been made available to them to improve their childrens education. Pray for our team as we are in the midst of drawing up an expanded and more practical syllabus based on what NECF has provided so that this can be used by the Orang Asli teachers themselves in the years to come.

9 SERMON OUTLINE GOD CALLS MOSES EXODUS. 3:1-4:17 Introduction 1. God Calls Moses 3: 1-10 God initiates the encounter with Moses. Vv 1-4 Moses knows he is in the presence of a holy God. V 5 God identifies Himself as God of Moses ancestors. V 6 God tells Moses His plan. Vv Moses Responds to God a. Who am I? 3: Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt? (v 11). Our problem: affirmation. God s answer: His Presence. Trust Him. b. What is your name? 3:13-22 Suppose they ask me, 'What is his name?' Then what shall I tell them? (v13) Our problem: authority. God s answer: His Person. Know Him. God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: 'I AM has sent me to you.'" God also said to Moses, "Say to the Israelites, 'The LORD, the God of your fathers-- the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob--has sent me to you.' This is my name forever, the name by which I am to be remembered from generation to generation. (vv14-15) In verses 16-22: (1) Moses is to assemble the elders and relays God s intention of delivering His people (vv 16-17). (2) Moses is then to go to Pharaoh with the elders to request a three-day journey to worship God in the desert (vv 18-20).

10 (3) Moses is to tell the women to collect, as it were, the wages the Israelites had earned in Egypt (vv 21-22). c. What if they don t believe me? 4:1-9 What if they do not believe me or listen to me and say, 'The LORD did not appear to you'? (v 1) Our problem: acceptance of our ministry. God s answer: His Power to authenticate our ministry. 3 signs: Turning Moses shepherd staff into a snake (vv 2-5). Inflicting Moses skin with disease and then curing it (vv 6-7). Changing water from the Nile to blood (vv 8-9). d. I have never been eloquent. 4:10-12 O Lord, I have never been eloquent,...i am slow of speech and tongue. (v 10) Our problem: ability. God s answer: His Provision. e. Please send someone else. 4:13-17 O my Lord, please send someone else to do it. (v 13) Then the LORD's anger burned against Moses and he said, "What about your brother, Aaron the Levite? (v 14) questions for sermon discussion What did God do to call Moses to serve Him? How do you think God calls us today to serve Him in church leadership or in ordinary church tasks? What do you believe God has called you to do in the church? 2. What are the reasons that Moses is reluctant to answer God s call? Which of his excuses are legitimate; which are not? What reluctance about Moses can you identify with him? Do you think your reluctance is legitimate or not legitimate? 3. What is the most important lesson you learn from this passage or sermon?
