Tag. Hide and seek. Laser tag. Capture the flag. Football. Fishing. What do these games all have in common? In each, there is some element of being caught. Whether it is to be hit by a ball, touched by another player, hit by a laser or hit by a 350 pound lineman, we can be caught. Depending on the game we are removed from the game permanently or temporarily, but in every instance there is a penalty to us. Being caught by Jesus, and being catchers of others for Jesus, has a different feel entirely. Or at least it should. We are caught in an ever-widening net of love. Being caught ourselves, we learn to draw others in to a life of love. Something to think about as we listen to Peter s thoughts in today s message, Grace to Go Fishing, excerpted from a story by Chaplain Neil Parker.
