Riccardi Interim Child Care Coordinator Amanda Pitre Grace Notes July 31, 2016 Dear Mary Taylor Memorial Church community, Thirteen of us had a great time singing old favorite songs to the residents of the United Methodist Homes in Shelton last Sunday afternoon. The residents of Wesley Heights, Crosby Commons and the Bishop Wicke Health Center joined us in The Good Old Summertime, Bicycle Built for Two, Michael, Row the Boat Ashore, and I ve Been Working on the Railroad, among other favorites. We then repaired to Scoopy Doo s for ice cream. Thanks to Leigh Bak for organizing this event. We always regret when a blue intercessory prayer sheet does not make it to our Lay Leader. Last Sunday was one such occasion. The process by which we pray individually, by name, for dear ones has many moving parts. Still, it is the best system we have, developed over a number of years, for lifting individual prayers as we do. When submitting blue sheets, please hand them to an usher or place them on the center aisle of each pew prior to the opening hymn, when they are picked up by the ushers. This allows our Lay Leader of the month (Kelly O Hara today, Leigh Bak in August) to organize the sheets for praying aloud. If, as the prayers are read, your intercessions or petitions are not spoken, please feel free to speak them aloud in the silent pause that follows those that are read. Please also remember that God knows our need even before we ask. Our family is taking vacation time beginning this Wednesday, August 3 through Friday, August 19. We expect to see family in both Canada and Maryland. Dennis Darak ( ) can be reached for pastoral needs, which he will relay either to Pastor Hal Vink or the Rev. Jim Stinson who are covering for me.
