April 24, 2016 Preparation for Worship Sunday Early Service Prelude Praise, My Soul, the King of Heaven Praise, my soul, the King of Heaven, to his feet thy tribute bring. Ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven, who like me his praise should sing? Praise him; praise the everlasting King. Frail as summer s flower we flourish, blows the wind and it is gone. But while mortals rise and perish God endures unchanging on. Praise him; praise the everlasting King. Fatherlike he tends and spares us; well our feeble frame he knows. In his hands he gently bears us, rescues us from all our foes. Praise him; praise the everlasting King. Angels help us to adore him; ye behold him face to face. Sun and moon bow down before him, dwellers all in time and space. Praise him; praise the everlasting King. Words by Henry Lyte. Music by Christopher Miner. A Call to Worship Call to Worship Praise be to the LORD, for he has heard my cry for mercy. The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song. The LORD is the strength of his people, a fortress of salvation for his anointed one. Save your people and bless your inheritance; be their shepherd and carry them forever. Psalm 28:6-9. Invocation The Welcome of God Worship in Praise God of Wonders Lord of all creation, of water, earth, and sky, The heavens are your tabernacle. Glory to the Lord on high. (Chorus) God of wonders beyond our galaxy, you are holy, holy. The universe declares your majesty. You are holy, holy. Early in the morning I will celebrate the light. When I stumble in the darkness I will call your name by night. (Chorus) (Bridge) (Men) Hallelujah (Women) to the Lord of heaven and earth. (repeat line 2 times) God of wonders beyond our galaxy, you are holy, holy. The universe declares your majesty. You are holy, holy. (Men) Lord of heaven and earth. (Women)... and earth. Words and Music by Marc Byrd and Steve Hindalong.

Worship in Confession & Repentance Prayer of Corporate Confession O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with all who love him and obey his commands, we confess that we have sinned against you and done wrong. We have been wicked and have rebelled; we have turned away from your commands and laws. We have not listened to your servants who have spoken your word to us. O Lord, in keeping with all your righteous acts, turn away your anger and your wrath. Hear the prayers and petitions of your servants. For your sake, O Lord, look with favor upon your people. We do not make this request of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy. O Lord, listen! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, hear and act! For your sake, O God, do not delay, because we are your people and we bear your name. Amen. From Daniel 9 Silent Confession Assurance of Pardon This is the message we have heard from him and I declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. From 1 John 1:5-9 NIV. Mighty to Save Everyone needs compassion, a love that s never failing. Let mercy fall on me. Everyone needs forgiveness, the kindness of a savior, the hope of nations. (Hope of nations) Savior, he can move the mountains. My God is mighty to save, he is mighty to save. Forever author of salvation; he rose and conquered the grave, Jesus conquered the grave. So take me as you find me, all my fears and failures. Fill my life again. I give my life to follow. Everything I believe in, now I surrender. (I surrender)

Savior, he can move the mountains. My God is mighty to save, he is mighty to save. Forever author of salvation; he rose and conquered the grave, Jesus conquered the grave. Shine your light and let the whole world see; we re singing for the glory of the risen King Jesus. Shine your light and let the whole world see; we re singing for the glory of the risen King. Savior, you can move the mountains. God, you are mighty to save, you are mighty to save. Forever author of salvation; you rose and conquered the grave, yes, you conquered the grave. Words and Music by Ben Fielding and Rueben Morgan. Welcome and Announcements Pastoral Prayer Fellowship of the Body of Christ Members and Visitors please register your attendance on the Attendance Register. Children ages 4 - K5 may be dismissed to Worship Center following the pastoral prayer. Worship in the Preaching & Hearing of the Word Scripture Reading Daniel 9: 1-6, (page 746) Sermon Daniel s Prayer Then I turned my face to the Lord God, seeking him by prayer and pleas for mercy with fasting and sackcloth and ashes. I prayed to the Lord my God and made confession, saying, O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, we have sinned and done wrong and acted wickedly and rebelled, turning aside from your commandments and rules. Daniel 9:3-5 Giving of Tithes and Offerings All Things New Come, Lord, and tarry not. Bring the long looked for day. O why these years of waiting here, these ages of decay? Come, for thy saints still wait; daily ascends their sigh. The Spirit and the Bride say, Come. Does thou not hear the cry? O come and make all things new. Come and make all things new. O come and make all things new. Build up this ruined earth; come and make all things new. Come, for creation groans, impatient of thy stay, worn out with these long years of ill, these ages of delay. Come, for love waxes cold; its steps are faint and slow. Faith now is lost in unbelief, hope s lamp burns dim and low. O come and make all things new. Come and make all things new. O come and make all things new. Build up this ruined earth; come and make all things new. Words by Horatius Bonar. Music by Clint Wells.

Celebration of the Lord s Supper The Sacrament of the Lord s Supper (As the elements are passed, feel free to state the following words to the person next to you in the pew: Bread - This is Christ s body, given for you. Juice - This is Christ s blood, shed for the forgiveness of your sins. ) Savior, Like a Shepherd Lead Us Savior, like a shepherd lead us, much we need thy tender care; in thy pleasant pastures feed us, for our use thy folds prepare: Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus, thou hast bought us, thine we are. We are thine; do thou befriend us, be the guardian of our way; keep thy flock, from sin defend us, seek us when we go astray: Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus, hear, O hear us when we pray. Thou hast promised to receive us, poor and sinful though we be; thou hast mercy to relieve us, grace to cleanse, and pow r to free: Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus, let us early turn to thee. Early let us seek thy favor; early let us do thy will; blessed Lord and only Savior, with thy love our bosoms fill: Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus, thou hast loved us, love us still. Hymn of Response #378 Blessing of God s People Postlude Words and Music used by permission. All rights reserved. CCLI # Here, O My Lord, I See Thee Face to Face

Daniel s Prayer Daniel 9:1-6, April 24, 2016 We have already read how it was Daniel s practice to pray three times a day (6:10). It is easy to be attracted to Daniel s wisdom, strength and influence that are so evident in the first part of the book. We see in this chapter the source of these qualities Daniel s prayer life. Though Daniel lived at the center of power of two of the great superpowers of his era, he believed that God is in control of all things and that prayer is the human instrument God uses in accomplishing his will. So Daniel prayed, and this prayer demonstrates to us some of the key components of his prayers. I. Bible-Based II. Personal III. Humble IV. Surprising
