1 The Voice of Holy Trinity July Since the kingdom of God is not just words, it is power. 1 CORINTHIANS 4:20 HOLY TRINITY GREEK ORTHODOX CATHEDRAL 3131 NE Glisan St., Portland, Oregon ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dear Parishioners and Friends, The theme of our Summer Camp taking place July 9-14 is # blessed. During these beautiful Summer days we can easily count the many blessings present around us in nature. Taking time to give thanks to the Lord for all that He has given us is so important. As we enjoy our Summer vacations, I hope that we will also take time to reflect on the blessings that we have been given by our Lord. Getting some rest and relaxation is helpful to our general outlook on life and taking time for reflection also allows us to gain a proper perspective on things. Reflection, being aware of and counting or blessings, and prayer help us to appreciate where we are at in our lives and where we wish to be. The Summer months are great time to rejuvenate and hopefully get back on course when it comes to the things that are priorities in our lives. Many times, through business, our dreams and aspirations get lost in the shuffle. Sometimes it takes a few care free moments to remind us of the things that matter most. I encourage you to join us in worship at the Cathedral during the Summer months, so that along with some time for rest, relaxation and thoughtful reflection you remain in the unity of the Spirit which is the guiding force in our lives. This is a good recipe for success as we seek some much-needed refreshment and hope to recharge our batteries, so that we may move forward. Love in Christ, Fr. Paul There truly are many blessings in life for which we can be thankful. I am thankful for the rich experiences that we share as a worshipping community here at Holy Trinity Cathedral. I am thankful for all of you that are members of our Church family. I pray that you enjoy all the blessings that Lord provides this Summer and always! Χρόνια Πολλά and Happy Birthday to our centenarian Effie Karambelas! Join us as we celebrate her 100 th Birthday during coffee hour on Sunday, July 23 rd, 2017! We also will be celebrating Fr. Paul s Birthday! See you there!

From feeding the hungry, visiting the sick, helping the poor, the homeless, the veterans, the families with cancer, the infirmed, the grieving, by baking, and offering Philoxenia, these are just a few of the many ways you have impacted the lives of so many. YOU have inspired me. I have witnessed firsthand many tangible examples of the virtues of Faith, Hope and Love as you worked to fulfill the mission of Philoptochos. My deepest thanks for your commitment and hard work. My journey in leading this ministry wasn t done alone. I was accompanied by my talented, loving, caring and creative Philoptochos sisters. It has been a collaborative effort. Together, we have accomplished much. A special thank you to the Philoptochos Board members, circle leaders and ministry leaders. When there was a need, they were there, and always found the way. I am blessed to know them all personally, and I thank them for their friendship and support. I am grateful for their dedication. I followed in the footsteps of 42 dedicated past Philoptochos Presidents and I am proud and happy to now be numbered within their ranks. Congratulations to the newly elected Board of Directors and circle leaders. I know that these leaders will motivate us to continue the good works of Philoptochos. With an abundance of love in my heart I offer my sincere thank you and above all, I thank God for His many blessings! Mari Lou P. Diamond Portland Philoptochos President
