1 PRESENTATION OF CHRIST GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH CURRENT APRIL 2019
2 Dear Parish Family, The first three weeks of Lent have seen quite a bit of activity at our church home, as we have joyfully entered into the Fast together. We have seen increased attendance at our weekday services, our outreach ministry activities, and also our various planning meetings. Our participation in these events reminds us that fasting is three fold. The Lord calls us to increased prayer, dietary fasting, and almsgiving, including giving of our time. But there is another aspect to our Lenten experience. We are also directed to take into consideration any words, deeds, or thoughts that have put barriers between us and God. Lent is an excellent time to consider these things and bring them before Him. We know from the parable of the Prodigal son that our Father will forgive that which we confess. This forgiveness removes the sins that stand between us and God, allowing us to draw closer to Him. St. John Chrysostom told us that sins are wounds to our souls, and repentance is the cure. Consider taking time during Great Lent to schedule a Confession. The Physician of our souls and bodies is waiting to dispense that medicine freely. We need only come and ask for it! See you at Church, Fr. Dean
3 A Note from President and Stewardship Chairman Steve Markantone All For One Lent is a great time for us to come together and continue developing lifelong friendships at Ypapanti. Friendships can and will transform our hearts. There are so many opportunities to help; from preparing the church for Pascha, to getting involved in a church committee. I would like to thank whoever anonymously cleaned up the leaves around the church. This demonstrates the love and friendship they have for our community. I am not singling this one thing out; as I know there are a lot of people who donate their time and talents to Ypapanti. There is a great proverbial saying Show me a man s friends and I ll show you his character. We are all fortunate to be in a parish where there is such great character. If there is somewhere you would like to get more involved, please ask a Parish Council member or Father Dean. We would love to have you. By getting involved you will develop friendships with people of great character that will last a lifetime. Please fill out your 2019 pledge card; as we need one filled out each year
4 Pascha Cards Would you like to honor your loved ones or commemorate your departed ones during Holy Pascha and support your church at the same time? Then please help sponsor our Community Easter Card. It s a wonderful way to send your greeting of the resurrection of our Lord to the entire parish community. You can place this form in the collection basket, mail it, or stop by and visit the office. Please print your name the way you would like it to appear on the Pascha Card.
