2 Mass Intentions for the Week Today we celebrate the feast of the Baptism of the Lord. On this day Jesus made a way for us to become the sons and daughters of God. Just as the voice was heard from heaven, "this is my beloved son," so through baptism you and I become sons and daughters of God, sharing his divine nature by adoption. Thinking back to last week's celebration of Epiphany and the adoration of the Magi, I was reminded of the beautiful opportunity for adoration that we have at St. Ann. Beginning Friday morning after the 8:00 am mass and continuing through the night until Saturday at 4:00 pm, over 40 parishioners spend an hour before our Lord, present in the monstrance. If you have never been by the chapel, I would encourage you to stop by for a moment of prayer reflection. At Franciscan University, where I did my undergrad work, there was adoration I experienced how it changed the lives of hundreds of college students, as they invested time quietly reflecting with the Lord about how he could be a larger part of their life. My hope is that within this year we can add another 24 hours of adoration at St. Ann. If you have been by the chapel recently, you may have noticed the new altar that was recently donated to our parish. More changes will be coming to the adoration chapel to beautify this special place of encounter with the Lord. If you're interested in being a part of this work, please let me know. Beginning in February, I would like to hold a parish council meeting the first Thursday of each month at 6:00 pm. Each month, the Sunday before, I will publish the agenda for the upcoming meeting in this letter. In addition to those who are officially members of the Parish Council, I encourage anyone in the parish who is interested to attend. I see the Parish Council as a way to seek advice from you, the people of the parish, and to disseminate information so that you can become a more active part of the mission of our parish. 4 Under Construction The holiday season was busy around here! All demolition is complete, the outside is complete, electrical updates are 95% completed and the plumbing rough-in is nearly done. The kitchen and bathroom cabinets are on order and should arrive in about six weeks. We will begin plaster repairs, in a week or so, which should take a week to a week and a half. Once this is done we will be looking for volunteers to assist with the painting of ceilings, walls, and pre-paint all doors and trim lumber prior to the installation. Do you feel the call to help us? Once the painting has been completed we will begin floor preparation and installation and final trimming. This will become a beautiful home for our pastor and we are still within the initial budget estimates mostly due to parishioners donating their time. Please thank Joe Germana when you see him. All exterior work was donated by him and he has spent many hours preparing the inside for updates (which he will install with the help of others). Jim Baksi has assisted by completely updating our electrical and it is now up to code.
